She began to cry. Tears began to fall from her eyes, pouring into her hand as she cupped her mouth. It had been a couple of months since Harry's death, and she had not expected herself to break down like this again. She had done so when he came out of Voldemort's lair, bleeding; she had also cried in his funeral, as all the others pretended to understand what she was feeling, even though they really didn't; she had been in denial for quite a long time… it lasted for about a couple of weeks, but soon faded away, healing her bit by bit.
It had taken her so long to recuperate, that she expected it to be over when she shed her last tear a couple of months before. Who knew a memory could bring tears back again… who knew it could begin to end all over again.
She could still remember the soft kiss he had planted on her lips that night. She could still remember as if it were yesterday… the intimacy between them… the feeling of his fingers intertwined with hers during the last challenge in the triwizard tournament. She could remember welcoming him with open arms when he arrived in the common room, tears streaming down his cheeks for the lost friend. She could remember him cradling her in his arms for comfort, as if she were the one could take all the pain away…and she took it all away.
To think that she was his comfort, his solace…and now he is gone. He found peace in her when everything came crashing down on him… It was like she was his stronghold.
Now that he is gone, it seemed like… she had no purpose in life… not anymore. She lived to comfort, to secure…without anyone to hold, she was nothing… a mere speck of dust in a school that expected much from her.
With him, she was labeled as "Harry's Girlfriend"… she was not invisible… but now, she was just… Hermione Granger… the one who saw hew boyfriend die in front of her eyes. Everyone refused to come near her… she was ultimately…nothing.
