This is the introduction and story of this fan fiction. This will help you get a grip on what's going on currently. So here it is:
Introduction
It's the year 2024, 14 years after Kira's defeat. The world is recovering from the blow that was dealt to it years ago. The bad memories of Kira have been buried beneath many other memories and a new generation has risen in the community. Even though the crime rate has risen again, the fear amongst the people are now back to a containable level and the world seems to be in as much peace as there can be. The police are bringing justice and people have gotten back to their normal lives, or as normal as you want to see them. Kira has long since faded away and is merely a story of the past that wrecked havoc among the civilians that no longer holds power over them. People are happy, and that's what matters.
Wammy's House is still up and running, housing gifted, but orphaned children – intellectually so or otherwise. They are training their gifted young people to be as bright, or if not brighter than the great L. Those that knew him or even heard of him still mourn his death. Every year on his birthday, the bells ring. Even those who had never met him or were too little to remember him mourn because everyone else is mourning. Wammy's House has a bundle of gifted kids ready to take on the world. Some are older and some are younger. The next generation of great detectives has come. Most have already made a name for themselves already.
Suddenly, the mysterious killings started up again – once again in Japan. Those able enough at Wammy's House must now join together with the police force again to fight against Kira once more. It's like history is repeating the deadly cat and mouse game that had been performed once before, but this time the reenactment is more dangerous, more deadly and might not end well. It's a game of chess where every little mistake can cost your life. The ultimate story of good vs. evil, cunning pitted against cunning, and fire fighting with fire all over again.
Watch your back. We're out to get you.
Story
When Light died, he was sent to the shinigami world for he could go to neither heaven nor hell. There, he too was a shinigami. Even though shinigami usually rotted in the realm until their form solidified, he flourished there. He changed, but it did not ruin his good appearances. He grew deathly pale, a bit ashen, but it gave him a terrifying allure. His nails grew long and razor sharp, adorning his long, graceful fingers. His caramel hair paled slightly, becoming a lighter shade of brown. His eyes gained rosy tints and dark, black wings, feathered at the top, but becoming leathery half-way to the edges, he could only be described as hauntingly beautiful. His ambitions were not gone, even when he was dead though. He just chose to bide his time until the world was ready for Kira once more.
L, our dear genius detective, was too in the shinigami world, though he never caught wind of Light, never saw him in all the years that they were both dead. He had ended up here because he had, without telling the rest of the task force, used the Death Note once to kill his parents' murderer. He had unwittingly subjected himself to be one of the Death Note users fated to end up in the shinigami realm. He himself did not decay, though his skin became pallid and ashen, deathly pale, even more so than when he was alive, he grew small claws upon his fingers and a pair of dark, feathery wings, not unlike Ryuk's. In the shinigami realm, he used his powers to watch the human world recover and only used his Death Note to kill those who were in misery, or would have committed suicide anyways. He would kill no innocents and chose only to kill to end suffering. He missed Wammy's house very much and visited the human world, Wammy's House to be exact, but accidently dropped his notebook. It was picked up by one of the orphans and he has followed the orphan around ever since, using the alias 'Mirza'.
Misa Amane – the unfortunate, self-proclaimed girlfriend of Light, was sent to the shinigami as well. She, unfortunately for her and Light, decayed and morphed, though she was still cute and beautiful, by shinigami standards, and you could tell she was female. She searched and searched for Light and soon found him after many years. Together, they planned to get a second Death Note each and drop them in the human world, giving them to a Kira supporter. They would tell the human what to do, intoxicate them with elaborate stories, and bend them to their will. That way, Light, or Kira as he is, would be able to create his perfect utopia, promising Misa that she would be his wife. They managed to gather other shinigami, Ryuk and Ren amongst them, to join them and convince them to get a second Death Note to drop, or to just drop their own, saying that it would kill time and that it was amusing. With this, Misa hopes to win Light's heart and love.
Now, the Kira age has began again with Light controlling the whole show from the sidelines. Kira's have popped up all over Japan, scaring the world once more. The killings aren't exclusive to Japan and criminals have been dying all over the world. When Wammy's House heard of this, the smartest, most able minded banded together. Most already had some respect in the world and they were ready to fight back. There is no clear leader this time though, no, they will all work together as equals, though they may not see each other as equals. They have brought along three assistances, just as L had brought along Watari, leaving Roger Mannings, the current owner and head of Wammy's House, in London to keep him out of immediate danger.
Now, it's time to solve the mystery of Kira once and for all. Can the detectives, along with the police defeat Kira, truly defeat him? Maybe, maybe not. Can we judge this as good vs. evil, or is it just justice vs. justice? And if so, then could Kira be right and we're just too afraid to admit it? Decide for yourself who you side with, who you choose to defend and whose lives you're willing to sacrifice. How about your own?
