Your in my arms
And all the world is gone
The music playing on
For only two
So close together
And when I'm with you
So close to feeling alive
Amber Wolfe stood outside her family home, leaning against the wall. Her proud face turned towards the ground. She had some of the worst news a woman could ever give a lover. She felt a hand on her shoulder and spun, only to smile with relief that it was him. James Norrington.
"Oh James."She sighed, leaning into his arms. He wrapped them around her, stroking her raven hair gently.
"What is it Amber? What did you need to tell me?"His voice sounded so comforting and gentle, Amber felt like she needn't tell him, but she had to.
"I'm leaving."She whispered, looking into his eyes.
A life goes by
Romantic dreams must die
So I bid mine goodbye
And never knew
So close was waiting
Waiting here with you
And now, forever,I know
All that I want is
To hold you
So close
"What are you talking about?Leaving? To where?"Amber closed her steel colored couldn't tell him where she was really would break his heart.
"I'm going to work. I've found a ship that will take me. Don't look at me like that!"James' eyes were clouded with sadness.
"I'll come back, I swear. I promised you the day I took this,"She rubbed the amber-stoned ring on her finger."That I would never abandon you, as long as you don't abandon me."James pulled her back into her arms. Amber didn't care how tight he was holding her. She didn't want him to let her go, ever. She wanted to stay.
So close to reaching
That famous happy end
Almost believing
This one's not pretend
Now your beside me
And look how far we've come
So far....
We are....
So close
"One year. Then you must come back."James whispered in her ear. Amber though his voice sounded funny, and against her cheek she felt something wet. She then realized, her James Norrington was crying.
"I promise."Amber told him, cupping his face in her hands. He kissed her hand lightly before Amber pulled slowly away, leading him with her to the docks.
Oh,how could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
At the docks, Amber took James' hand, placing in it a small pendant, in the shape of a wolf's pawprint. Amber then walked up onto the ship's deck, trying to avoid James' sad gaze. Once safely on deck, she turned to look at him. The ship began to leave the harbor, and Amber ran back to the stern, where she watched until James became a small dot on the shore.
James raised his hand in farewell. He loved her so much, he almost felt selfish. But he knew that he must let her leave if he really loved her. And so he had. He watched the ship until he could no longer see her, and even after it had disappeared, he watched the horizon for a long time, as if thinking she would come sailing back any moment.
Let's go on dreaming
Though we know we are...
A year later, James waited on the same beach she had left from the past year for the whole day, but no ship had word nor evidence that Amber Wolfe was still even , James stared out at the sea at sunset, and as the last strip of light disappeared, her pitched her pendant as far as he could into the swells.
So close....
So close....
Amber kneeled beside James on the Flying Dutchman, listening to his heart slow. Both knew he was on the verge of death, but Amber had made him a new would be there until the end. She lay there, head on his chest as his heart finally stopped beating. She gently lifted his arm from her body and set it down so he looked then noticed his eyes, his beautiful eyes, were gazing blankly at the place she'd just been laying. She had been his last sight, scent and closed his eyes and planted a kiss on his lips.
and still
So far.......
