Author's Note: Because I freaking love the Doctor. Leave a review at the end if you do too!

The Doctor

One cold, clear night, I was lying still there in my bed,

Unable to sleep due to the thoughts swirling in my head.

So I went to my window and peered up at the stars,

And I began to wonder about the things off afar.

-xXx-

Perhaps it was the hour of night, so late,

That made me recall the tales of a man so great.

He was an adventurer, a traveler of the skies:

His story even told of a blue police box that flies!

-xXx-

He had with him companions, people like me,

And he took them places no other human could see.

Planets and galaxies, so very far away,

He knew them all, visited them all—but he never did stay.

-xXx-

And his spaceship didn't only travel to faraway places, oh no,

The little blue box went where it should be impossible to go.

But anything was possible with this man, if faith you didn't lack:

That police box could travel through time, forward and back.

-xXx-

If you checked your history book he wouldn't be there,

But he has witnessed it all, I'd willingly swear.

The future, millions of years forward, and seen what is to come,

Or back into the past to when the world was begun.

-xXx-

And not only that, but the planets he has seen!

People and aliens, short, tall, fat, thin, blue, green!

He loves them, loves them all,

And he always shows up to save them if bad things befall.

-xXx-

He's a traveler, a wanderer, yes indeed,

But he's also there to help those in need.

Many times over he's kept the world from its end,

He's always there to prevent, protect, and defend.

-xXx-

It doesn't matter where; it doesn't matter when,

There's not a place or a time this man hasn't been.

So tell me, dear one, just where you'd like to go,

Just name it, and this man can take you there, you know!

-xXx-

I sit at my window awhile, I don't know how long,

Dreaming of this man and his box; wishing I could tag along.

Unfortunately, it seems I've been dealt a different fate:

Earthbound I am, able only to dream, left here to wait.

-xXx-

Whenever I start to wonder about all the things out there,

I got to my window, I look up at the stars, and I stare.

I think what it would be like to travel in that blue police box that flies,

And to make those stories come alive, all I must do is close my eyes.
