Introduction to the Characters: I write from Eunice's point of view. Eunice is a fictional nerd. She lives in New York City and is 21 years old. She is accompanied by many other characters in her wild stories. These include Eugene (her boyfriend), Ursula (her best friend but also enemy), and Agnes (her crazy next door neighbor).

I am usually oblivious to Ursula's flirting with Eugene, but today it was hard not to notice. It all started when Eugene took me to a book/coffee shop for Valentine's Day.

When we arrived, it was a big surprise to find my best friend, Ursula, sitting in one of the comfortable recliners there. She had always been jealous of me, well who wouldn't be what with Eugene's dark brown eyes and matching hair. Not only was he cute, but he also had straight A's and was thoughtful. Why, just this morning he'd given me a purple bracelet with pi up to 126 numbers inscribed on it. *Sigh* Sometimes I felt bad for Ursula, but her inexcusable behavior today made all that pity go away.

After Eugene and I ordered our lattes, we went to join Ursula, who was in the middle of reading a dictionary. We both picked up encyclopedias on our way to the chairs, but we didn't have any time to study them, for Ursula wouldn't stop flirting with Eugene. I tried not to notice how she kept batting her short blond eyelashes, but an uneasy feeling settled in my stomach. She'd better stop soon or…My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when Ursula spilled her drink "accidentally" all over my brand new t-shirt. Instead of yelling, I counted to ten like my psychiatrist tells me to, and muttered "Excuse me." Ursula seemed to have a smirk on her face as I walked past her, but I ignored that too and headed towards the bathroom.

Once I finished cleaning up, I pushed the door open with my foot for I was still holding paper towels on my shirt. I dropped them right away though when I saw what Ursula was doing. Right in front of my eyes she was holding Eugene's hand and whispering in his ear. This was the final straw! I grabbed a huge history book off the nearest shelf and threw it at Ursula's head. Wow, for a nerd I have really good aim! I thought to myself as I watched the book slam into the back of her head. Then, I ran toward and snatched his hand up. He whispered to me that he was in no way flirting back with Ursula and I believed him. We both stepped over Ursula, who was moaning on the floor, and skipped out the door. Now that Ursula was taken care of, Eugene and I could enjoy the rest of our Valentine's Day in peace. As I was stepping into our taxi I looked back toward the shop. Ursula was stumbling out the door and trying catch up to us. I snickered to myself and we drove away.
