All I can say is that this is based off of real-life events that are happening. Right now.

Broken Peace
On the screen, the two little fighters clashed blades, his thumbs moving over the buttons as he struggled to win. Just when he was certain he had the upper hand, he heard an angry scream from somewhere in the house. Jerking upright, his heart pounded in his ears as he strained to hear the flow of angry words. He couldn't decide where the voices were coming from, couldn't decipher the sentences. He had a feeling, though, that he knew who it was.
After abandoning his character for so long, the tiny fighter had died. The words "GAME OVER" flashed on the screen, and Sora heaved a heavy sigh while switching the handheld off. The bits and pieces of a heated argument continued to reach his ears, and he slowly, quietly slid off his bed and crossed the room to switch off the stereo.
Now that his room was completely silent, he could almost hear one voice, pitched high like a female's.
"Haven't...I've been telling...I hate..."
And the second voice, mixed in with the first, slightly deeper and more controlled.
"You said...wouldn't...yesterday! How can I..."
He made a guess that the two arguing were his parents, as the voices seemed to be coming from the kitchen. Were they fighting?
Drawing in a shaky breath, Sora padded with as much stealth as he could across the floor, knowing the kitchen was directly below his room. The door stood slightly ajar, and he positioned himself next to it while leaning against the wall. The voices had paused for a second, but the higher, feminine voice spoke again, more calmly.
"Why?"
The second voice didn't answer.
After a few long moments, they began speaking again in softer tones that Sora couldn't hear, and he thought his mother might have laughed lightly. That seemed to reassure him.
Backing away, he gently pushed the door shut and opted to call his best friend. Riku would cheer him up, if anything could.
Besides, maybe it was nothing.
Maybe it was nothing at all.
