"You seriously want an apartment next to Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto looked at Kai with surprise.
"There are questions about my mother that I want to ask him and he's the only one who knows." Kai didn't want to tell them the whole truth but technically she wasn't lying. She really did want to find out more about her mom. She had a whole other life that Kai hadn't known about.
"Ne, Sakura-chan what does the note say?" Naruto asked.
"It says that she is to have a room next to Kakashi-sensei."
"WHAT??"
"Naruto think of it this way. He's a jounin and he knows Kai in a way. He can protect her and she can ask all the questions she wants."
"Well that is true…" Naruto mumbled.
Reaching a 5-story building they checked in with the receptionist. She gave Kai the key to her new room.
"Go to the second level, take a right and about three doors down is your room. Hatake-san's room is the on the right side of your room."
"Thanks for the help."
The receptionist gave a friendly smile and waved bye. Kai quickly rushed to the elevators. She wanted answers and there was only one man who could give them. Naruto ran behind her while Sakura yelled that she would be at the working tonight and would join them at 9 for ramen.
"Kai-chan, wait up!"
Kai waited for Naruto to step inside before hitting the close door button. Then she pushed the two. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Naruto lightly panting and giggled. He gave her a playful glare as she stuck her tongue out at him.
Ding! The doors opened and Kai went to Kakashi's room. Giving a light rap on the door with her knuckles she waited patiently, or tried to. After a few more seconds the door opened to a fully dressed Kakashi only without the vest. He looked at her then at Naruto.
"Naruto can you wait somewhere not here?"
"Fine. Kai can I borrow the key to your room?"
Kakashi's eye widened a bit before he adopted his expressionless face again. Kai threw Naruto the keys then looked at Kakashi, her face asking him if she could come in. Kakashi sighed and walked back into his room leaving the door ajar. Taking that as a yes Kai entered. She quickly and quietly closed the door, not wanting anyone to hear the conversation.
"So what do you want to know first?"
"Well I want to know a lot of things. Like how you came to know my mom? And does Naruto know his father was a hokage and the fact that you knew his father? Or-"
"I can only answer one question at a time. I'll answer these questions for now. I knew your mom because she was Minato-sempai's cousin. Yes, Naruto has just learned from Jiraiya that his father was the hokage, but he doesn't know that I knew his father."
"What was my mom like in this village?"
"She was a ninja."
"A ninja…?"
"Yeah, like I am. Minato was my sensei, like I am to Naruto and Sakura."
"Wait there were three of you right? You, Rin, and Obito." Kai saw him noticeably flinch at hearing his old friend's names.
"There were three of us. Do you know the story of what happened too?"
"Yeah my mom told me just yesterday. Obito ummm…died saving you from a sort of rock slide…and Rin was killed on some mission. Namikaze-san was killed saving the village and Kushina died giving birth to Naruto."
"That's a slight summary of it. Do you know what caused the rock slide?"
Kai shook her head as she heard Kakashi chuckle. "Looks like Emiko didn't tell you the whole story." Kai looked up at his eye. She realized something that she should have seen sooner. Kakashi still had his eye covered and she didn't know why. She could ask him right now.
"Why do you cover up your right eye?"
"I'll tell you the whole story then…" Kakashi started with the day that he became a jounin which he explained was an elite ninja. Everyone except Obito had given him presents for him becoming a jounin. Minato decided to let him lead Obito and Rin while he went off alone. As Kakashi and his team went further into enemy territory two different ninjas ambushed the trio. Rin was captured leaving Obito and Kakashi. Both argued about what to do, either finish the mission and leave Rin behind or try to save Rin and risk failing their mission. Obito finally lost his cool and punched Kakashi for doing such a thing even to Rin who had saved him numerous times. And he went on telling Kakashi that his father was a true hero and that he was right for deciding to save his friends.
"Wait," Kai interrupted the story for which she received a glare from the man sitting across from her at the table. "What happened to your father?"
"Emiko didn't tell you anything about that either?"Kai shook her head. Kakashi gave a sigh.
"My father, Hatake Sakumo, was on a mission. All of his teammates were held hostage so he had to make the decision of either fulfilling the mission of save the lives of his teammates. He chose the latter and it ended up being his death." Kai stared in horror at the man who talked about this like it was the weather.
'How can he so casually talk about such a thing like it's an everyday topic? Doesn't he at least feel a little melancholy? He's not even close to crying?'
"Shinobi rule #25: A shinobi must never show any emotion." Kai looked up at Kakashi in surprise. "You're an open book. I can clearly see all your emotions. And reading emotions is something that is slightly required of ninjas."
"Anyway continuing on with my story…"
There was a loud knock at the door. "Kai-chan, are you done with asking Kakashi-sensei questions?"
"Damn it Naruto." Kai mumbled under her breath. She had really wanted to hear the end of Kakashi's story.
"Guess that's all the time we have for today." Kakashi started to walk towards the door. Opening it he saw a very impatient Naruto.
"We're done."
"Really? Alright, now Sakura, Kai, and I can go for ramen. Hey Kakashi you want to join?"
"No I'm fi-"
"Actually you'd be happy to join us right Kakashi? You said yes when I asked you."
"Alright!! I'll go get Sakura-chan."
Kakashi turned around to give Kai a hard glare. Kai just smiled sweetly and said, "Hurry up, I have a feeling Naruto won't be waiting for very long."
"Hn."
KAKASHI'S POV
'She has the most annoying ways to get under my skin. I wanted to relax and take a break. Now that's not possible.' He slammed the door closed when he left causing everyone in the hallway to look at him in surprise. Kakashi hardly did anything that caused noise or arguments. He just stayed to himself and didn't bother people. Having him closing his door so harshly and loudly that it sounded like thunder got a few wide eyes.
"I wonder what caused him to do that." The young lady who lived two doors down whispered to an elder man. The elder man shrugged and said, "Whatever it is it must be troubling him deeply so don't annoy him."
The lady nodded and they walked by feeling Kakashi's eye on them. Kakashi then walked off to go to Ichiraku knowing they would be waiting there for her.
At Konoha Hospital…
"Sakura there is a certain someone waiting for you. Once you finish you can go."
"Yes, Tsunade-sama."
Sakura finished healing her patients cut. "There all done. Try not to move around so much and you may want at least two days off. After that try not to get another sword cut Tenji."
"Sure thing, Sakura. Thanks for healing me."
"No problem, well I better go. Naruto is waiting for me."
Tenji nodded and went out with Sakura. Both bid goodbye to each other and walked off in separate directions.
Seeing Naruto she waved to him and saw he was talking to Tsunade. She caught up to them and asked, "What are you to rambling about and why do you look so smug Tsunade-sama?"
"Oh nothing much. Hey Sakura, you, Naruto, Kakashi, and the new girl are going out for ramen tonight right?"
"Yeeeesss…"
"Well how would you like to set up Kakashi with Kai?"
"What?! Why would you even think of that? How would Kai make a good match to Kakashi?" Sakura truly didn't know why Tsunade would think the two would make a good couple.
"Have you ever seen such a pissed off Kakashi that he slammed the door so hard that the whole apartment thought there was a huge thunderstorm coming?"
"No. He's always kept his cool even when Naruto is annoying him to death."
"Well then guess you don't know that Kakashi can lose his cool."
"Really? What happened?"
"Kai angered him."
"WHAT?!"
"Unbelievable, right Sakura-chan?" Naruto smiled at her shocked face. Sakura just nodded.
"So I've made a plan." Tsunade started again. "Here's what I need you two to do…"
Here's chap 3 and now you can tell who the main couple will be! Yippee. I wanted to keep it quiet until I somehow led up to it.
