"Now you all know what to do right?"

Five heads nodded in response.

"All right let's go for it!"

Where Kakashi and Kai are…

Kai couldn't believe it. Naruto and Sakura had come to tell her they would be running a little late. It wasn't the fact that they would be late that angered her. It was that they left her with the single most annoying arrogant guy in the world, Kakashi Hatake.

Kakashi was reading his book but he could tell Kai was angry about walking with him. Why did Naruto and Sakura leave him with her? Oh right because they had an ANBU team to save, supposedly. He felt like they were hiding something from him but at least they would show up and save him from Kai.

"Why do you read that book?"

Kakashi didn't look up from his book when he said, "Because I like reading them."

"Hey look at me when you're talking to me. It's rude to not look at people directly when you're talking with them."

"Didn't stop me."

"Arrgggh… fine, what ramen do you want?"

"Nothin', not hungry."

"Hmph, suit yourself."

Both sat down at the chairs provided and Kakashi kept on reading his book while Kai ordered a bowl of miso ramen. Kai sat glaring at Kakashi while he read his book.

"So I have a question to ask, if teams consist of three members and a sensei what happened to the third member? You don't have to answer."

"Good, then I won't."

Kai almost hit him there and then. 'What is with this guy? He could have said "I don't really want to talk about it." Instead of being rude!'

"Here is your order of miso ramen."

"Thanks I'm really hu-…why are the noodles in the shape of a heart?"

"Aren't you two on a date?"

"Eeeewww no. I would never go out with him."

"Nor I with her. She's not my type. Too annoying." At this Kai really did hit him but he caught her punch in mid-throw. "You're going to have to do better than that."

Kai pulled back her hand and Kakashi went back to reading his book while Teuchi stared at them in, clearly confused.

"But you two look so good together, and…are you sure you're not on a date? It is just you two."

"No Teuchi, Sakura and Naruto are really late." Kakashi plainly said. "I'm going to go check out that new bookstore down the street. I'll be back."

Kai stared at his receding back as Teuchi went out back.

"Ayame, go tell them that our part is a success."

"Really? I can't believe Kakashi has finally found someone. It's so romantic…" Ayame stared off into space as her father shook his head slowly.

"Ayame, the plan, report, any of it sound familiar?"

"Oh right, sorry."

Ayame dashed off into an alley as Teuchi went back to the front to take the order of couple of customers. 'The hokage really knows what she's doing. Hope the plan is a success,' he thought as he took down the orders.

To Kakashi in a bookstore…Kakashi's POV

'Why am I blushing so hard? My face feels like I'm running a fever of 110 degrees. It was just a question.' Kakashi started picking books off the shelves and sat down to read them.

After a few minutes he found he couldn't concentrate, he seemed to think back to the awkward moment at the ramen stall. It had been just a question out of curiosity right? Then why did it cause him to blush so much. Luckily he had his trusty mask. He had bought it specifically for this type of reason. He didn't want anyone to read his emotions and since the mask covered most of his face they couldn't see his emotions.

'What has gotten into me? I can't like someone…I'm a ninja. I could get killed tomorrow even. Wait am I admitting that I like Kai? I don't know anymore.' He sighed and left the store, so much for buying the new Icha Icha books.

Back to Kai…third person pov

Kai waited for Kakashi when she saw Shizune. She remembered her from her brief time in the hokage's office.

"Ummm…Shizune have you seen Sakura or Naruto anywhere?"

"I don't think they'll be able to make it, seems like they got stuck with another team."

"Really? That's too bad. I really wanted to talk with Sakura. Hmmm… guess I'm stuck walking home with Kakashi. If he hasn't already left that is…"

"I think I see him right there."

"What?" Kai's head turned in the direction Shizune's finger pointed. Shizune laughed on the inside as she heard how happy Kai sounded when she thought that he was coming and how fast her head had turned.

"Oh my bad, it was an old man. Oh well."

"Oh…"

"Am I really that old?"

"AAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Kai screamed as he appeared behind Shizune.

"Yo."

"Don't do that!"

"I'm a ninja. I have to do that."

"Not on me you don't."

Shizune giggled as she heard them argue. 'They are so cute.'

"Uh…Shizune, what are you laughing about?"

"Nothing, you two just look like an old married couple when you argue like that."

Both blushed and stared in different directions. Kai looked like she was taking an interest in the dirt when Kakashi suddenly said, "Well we better go, see ya Shizune."

"See you two around." Shizune said as she waved good-bye.

Kai started to follow Kakashi but started to fall behind because of her and Kakashi's different strides. She started to jog a little and started to run past him but then felt the ground become slippery. Before she could slow down she felt herself slip and braced herself for impact, but it never came. Opening her eyes she found herself staring into a dark black midnight eye.

She blushed as she realized that she and Kakashi's faces were only 3 inches apart. Struggling to get out she screamed, "Let me go! Let me go!"

"Stop it or else I won't be able to-"and she fell. "hold on."

Snickering he saw wipe her eyes so she could see, but he burst into laughter when he saw her face which had taken on a sort of pouty look. Her lower lip was jutted out and her hands were clenched into fist.

"This is all your fault, you ruined my mother's kimono," she accused him as she tried to stand up but slipped back down.

"Te-technically you-hahaha- struggled when I to-t-told you to- hahaha- hold still." He was bent over now and tears were streaming down his eyes as Kai tried again to get up. She managed to stand again and started to try to throw mud at Kakashi. He tried to dodge her and was just barely able to due to the fact he was still laughing.

Then she was able to hit him right over his left eye that he kept covered up. Kakashi stopped dodging and took off his headband. Kai stopped throwing mud so she could see what it was that he covered behind the headband. At first all she could see was the scar because he was still rubbing the area with the back of his sleeve to get the mud off. But when his arm went down she saw his eye. She wasn't even sure if it was an eye.

'Who's eye is red with a comma in it too?' She stared his eye until he started coughing. She started to blush and Kakashi stared at her.

"I never did tell you about my sharingan from the eye implant, did I?" Kai shook her head.

"Well after me and Obito split off in different directions I thought about what he said and realized he was right. So I went after him and managed to save his butt in time but my eye got slashed in the process. While in this madness, Obito manages to activate his sharingan, which is this eye right here except people usually have it in both eyes. Then when we went in to get Rin the enemy did a jutsu that caused that "rock slide" and Obito pushed me out of the way. His right side was crushed and he gave me his eye because he said he had no use for it anymore since he was dying. Rin managed to successfully transplant the eye into me and I've had it ever since."

Kai started to reach out to touch it but thought better of it and dropped her hand. Kakashi put his forehead protector back on.

"Why do you keep it covered?" Kai asked.

"Because I'm not an Uchiha, they're the only ones with this bloodline trait. The sharingan allows me to copy other's jutsus and use them."

Kai nodded, not quite understanding, but getting some of it. So that meant that Obito and the Uchihas, whoever they were, were the ones who had this weird eye. "Where are the Uchiha's?

"They're dead. They were killed by one of their own. The only ones left are Sasuke and his brother."

Kai knew better than to press the subject so she started walking again. Kakashi followed behind her. She gave a glance back and saw Kakashi reading his book. She shrugged and headed back to the apartment.

In a Dark alley close by Ichiraku…

"Did you see that?" A hushed voice asked.

"We all saw it Naruto."

"And I swear Kakashi was so distracted that he couldn't read his books."

That got a lot of gasp from the group.

"Tsunade, you were right. About them."

"Of course I was Sakura, I know love when I see it."

"Hokage I need to get back."

"Of course Ayame, tell your dad thanks for the help."

"No prob. It's fun to play matchmaker once in a while."

Ayame headed back to the stand, while Naruto followed her for some ramen. Sakura sighed and followed Naruto. Tsunade and Shizune were left standing alone.

"How about we go drink some sake?"

"No way, you still have paperwork to finish."

Tsunade mumbled something under her breath which caused Shizune to giggle. It had been a long day and Tsunade had wanted to go and relax while drinking some sake of course. But Shizune wasn't going to let her off that easy.
