Gomen nasai! I haven't had time to do any writing (i know it's an old excuse but it's an excuse nonetheless!) So this chapter will be slight strange compared to the others because I haven't written for so long. Enjoy! R&R!
Kai stared upward, mezmerized by the sunlight peeking through her window and shining in her room. She knew she had to get up but she didn't want to. The peace from her position was a big reason why but also because...if she got up, what would she do? Knock on Kakashi's door? Hell no. Clean the apartment? With what?
She got up anyway to answer the call of nature. She didn't notice it last night but there were a lot of beauty things in the bathroom. One by one she lifted each container a glance and memerized its use. Wash, cleanse, moisturize. Sure she could do that.
As she wiped her face with a warm fuzzy towel she heard a knock from the door.
"Coming, give me a moment." She gave herself a check in the mirror, grabbed a clean t-shirt and surprisingly jeans from the closet. The t-shirt hugged itself to her body and the jeans just happened to be the skinniest she had ever worn. I look desperate, she thought to herself.
The knock sounded again and she hurried towards the door. She tripped over her shoes left over from last night and gave a curse.
"Damnit!" There was a poof of smoke and she saw Kakashi looking battle ready with his sharingan out. His eyes narrowed as he realized her reason of yelling. Bending down he grabbed her foot and did a teleportation jutsu.
She materialized in a hospital room, more specifically a hospital room with Sakura and Naruto glomphing all over each other.
"Ehhemm," Kakashi cleared his throat and watched with an amused glance as his two students pulled apart, with red tomatoes decorating their faces.
'So he can smile' Kai thought. The day was just full of surprises. 'At least, a real smile.'
Kakashi gave a gesture over to the general vicinity of Kai. "Sprain."
Kai rolled her eyes, it was a miracle if he ever spoke for more than a minute. Sakura kneeled down and avoided eye contact with anyone and everyone. Kai gave a grin. Naruto was just as shy, he had rotated his body to face the window now that he realized Kai and Kakashi were going to be here for a while.
"So who wants to train today?" Kakashi's voice broke the awkward silence. Immediately the tense atmosphere dissolved, and Naruto gave a whoop. Kai felt distant as the trio discussed their plans for the evening. Training, she couldn't do it. She wasn't built for ninja activities, as far as she could tell. She was extremely fit because she played almost every sport in her high school but she could tell that she wasn't going to last long playing against these three.
"What about Kai?" Thinking she had been forgotten, Kai had zoned out but upon hearing her name, her neck snapped up. She looked into Sakura's beautiful jade green eyes and had a moment of pleasure from at least two of the three being worried about her welfare.
"I think I'll sign her up for the academy."
"Isn't she a little old for the academy, Kakashi-sensei."
It'll be fine Naruto. We'll help her." Sakura gave Kai a wink and Kai could've sworn she heard both males sigh. So much for caring. At least she had a girlfriend in this foreign world. She still wanted to go home, her mother must be worried sick. But how could she go home? She didn't know the reversal jutsu, Tsunade told her that this one jutsu didn't work both ways.
"Hey Kai, you ok?" Sakura threw a worried glance at her, while Kakashi looked curious and surprisingly concerned too. Naruto said, "Cheer up Kai, at least the academy bullies won't pick on you."
"Naruto, the bullies are older than her."
He scratched his head and mumbled something about them only picking on guys. Kai smiled and after pulling herself up without any pain in her ankle she followed Kakashi to a large building located only five minutes from the hospital. To the left, there was a swing and a small playground filled with young kids of all ages, each stop and looked over at Kai. Kai avoided their curious glances as Kakashi gave a small wave. A few of them waved back, but all followed Kai with their eyes.
Entering the building, Kai felt the gazes of the children disappear and relaxed as she trudged down the smooth empty corridor. She began to wonder if they had reached their destination yet when suddenly Kakashi turned a sharp left and opened one of the sliding doors.
"Yo, Iruka." Kakashi slid in and greeted the lone man within the room. He, like Tsunade, had papers stacked up in a neat pile and was currently marking the one in front of him. Looks like he was an academy teacher. Kai gave a small shy smile as he stood up and stared at her with curiousity.
"This is Takahashi Kai, your new student." Iruka's eyes widened as Kai glared at Kakashi.
"Hatake- san, I can't just join in a room like this, we're imposing on him!"
"Who Iruka, he won't mind, right Ruka?"
"It's no problem at all, Takahashi san right?" Kai gave a nod. She really wondered if it was all right to just barge in and declare that a stranger would be joining the class. Kai didn't see but Kakashi gave a discreet nod toward Iruka. Iruka nodded back and turned toward Kai with a smile. Tsunade still wanted to keep tabs on her. Stranger or not, she was in Konoha and with only herself as proof to the fact she belonged to two ninja lovers that had thought to have long disappeared seventeen years ago. Suspicion lurked in every place Kai became acquinted with. But Tsunade only did so because of regulations, the girl really did look like Emiko and she knew most of Kakashi's story.
And besides her chakra level was nonexistant. If her chakra pool did grow, it wouldn't even reach the average ninja's chakra level.
Kai shook hands with Iruka and he told her before coming to class, she needed to access her chakra pool. To an experienced teacher like Iruka, he could tell that she had barely touched it. But he didn't know that the jutsu she used to get to Konoha required at least ten times the amount that was perceived now.
NEXT DAY...
Kai tried to calm down her frayed nerves as she hurriedly dressed in a new ninja outfit given to her courtesy of Sakura and her unknown friend Ino. The fishnet shirt was safely hidden under a dark blue vest that had one long sleeve and one short one. Her jeans were exchanged for bicycle shorts that hugged her thighs included a little kunai holster with bandages covering her legs all the way down to her ninja sandals.
It was actually a pretty comfortable outfit. Built for flexible movement. Last night she had tried it on and immediately built a liking for the cute outfit. Her black hair coincided well with the vest. Now to actually walk outside in it was a different matter. She took a deep breath and exited her apartment and walked over to Kakashi's. He opened the door but he didn't look any bit ready to walk her to the academy. His sleeveless undershirt and pajama pants weren't fit for walking outside. He gave a yawn and stifled a giggle. He glanced down at her and scratched his head. He realized that 1) she was ready to go 2) he wasn't and 3) she was wearing an extremely cute outfit. A bit like Icha icha he might add.
He banned his mind from going down that road this early in the morning and said to her, "Naruto's waiting downstairs."
He then shut the door in her surprised face. He completely blew off his task of teaching her the way to school. If Naruto weren't waiting for her she would've given him a piece of her mind. But she didn't want to be late the first day.
Unknown to her, Kakashi had slid down to the hardwood floor and had his head buried within his arms. A blush was creeping through his face. Icha Icha had its drawbacks too. Whenever he saw someone wearing an outfit similar to the characters, he pulled his book up and covered his heating face. Nobody ever figured it out. They figured he was more interested in the book than them. Well actually, it was kind of true. Anyone else want to listen to Tsunade and her list of daily activities in the position of hokage? But Tsunade always looked like one of the characters, courtesy of Jiraiya and his fantasies. Kakashi tried not to think anything of the matter but it was helpless. Besides he wasn't going to give up the series.
KAI...
She strolled down the street with Naruto beside her as she memorized the passageway to the academy from her apartment. The streets were easy enough and soon they arrived. Naruto bid her farewell and gave a wave over to Iruka.
Kai shuffled over to him. "um...U-umino-sens-"
"Just call me Iruka-sensei." Kai nodded. She wasn't always embarrassed but to strangers it was terrible. Naruto and Sakura were easy to befriend because they were her age, and she didn't consider Kakashi much of a stranger, besides she got too angry at him to realize she wasn't stuttering. With Iruka, it was the first real relationship she made without any knowledge or feelings. He was a teacher. It still scared her.
"Today, the kids are at target practice so I can teach you without any distractions." Kai gulped, great, all of his attention would be on her. She felt more pressure than before.
"Now did you access your chakra?" Kai gave a small nod. Iruka realized she probably tried but couldn't do it. "Well, we'll renew that lesson so you can warm up. " Kai gave a more confident and grateful nod.
"Alright, now close your eyes. It'll help you concentrate. And hold still." Iruka bent over her and tapped a few chakra points to help her stimulate the flow. Immediately he felt her chakra grow. And grow. It didn't stop till it reached the same amount as Naruto. Hiding a surprised face, he gently told her to open her eyes. Kai felt... strong. Something like adrenaline was seeping into her system.
"Ok, now that you've done that, how about we learn some taijutsu?" Kai became confused. "Taijutsu is your basic fighting without any chakra."
Kai understood and for the rest of the day she learned punches and kicks and where to place them and also how to use her arsenal of kunais and shurikens. He gave her three scrolls to study and sent her home for the day. Kai gave a warm thank you and ambled over to Naruto. Iruka, on his way home thought about the interesting day. She had loads of chakra that was for sure, and was a quick learner. Withing a few tries, she was making it to the bulls eye of the target. Something else surprised him too. He thought she looked very cute in her outfit.
-It's kind of boring for now but I shall soon show you how awesome kai is and her true strength. Right now this is a linking type of chapter.
