The Sunset

Cherry Valance sat on her windowsill, it hadn't been very long since she had testified at the court house and now her parents were suggesting for her to see a therapist for Bob's murder. How she should be grieving over the loss of her boyfriend. In honest truth, the young teenager was, she had been in love with Bob despite the bad behavior he had shown he had. Although he didn't have the best attitude it didn't mean he deserved to have his life cut short.

Guilt flooded through her body and she rested her head on her knees. Cherry stared out the window and watched the sun set over the horizon, slowly bringing night. Johnny Cade didn't deserve to have his life cut short either, despite the fact that he killed Bob she should have visited him. It was a fact that killing someone, for someone who was as gentle as Johnny, couldn't have been easy. The teenager could have at least gone to tell him that she hoped he got better. There were so many things she could have done different, so many ways she could have said good-bye. Three lives were now gone from the world, none of them fully lived. Why did Cherry feel so guilty?

She wanted to be different, she wanted to accept the Greasers as people. Cherry wanted to make everything okay, she wanted to make it so she was able to talk to Ponyboy at school without getting dirty glares or worrying about what her friends would think.

"Can you see the sunset real good on the West side? You can see it on the East side too."

His question rang in her head, was it wrong that she missed Ponyboy? That maybe, although she had been with Bob, he had shown her kindness and that he hadn't cared about her being a Soc? The answer to his question settled itself into her mind. Yes, the sunset was beautiful from where she was. For some odd reason it gave her a sense of comfort knowing that Ponyboy Curtis was watching the same sunset as her. Cherry brushed back a lock of her red hair and she leaned her head against the glass. She felt as if she were making peace with Dally and Johnny as she continued to stare out at the sunset.

There it is! My first Outsiders one-shot. I have tons written but I've never posted them =P So what do y'all think?
