Chapter 17
I got this high withoug taking a pill
Harry got up early morning and his stomach started to protest from the lack of food.
He got out of bed and grabbed some clean clothes, going straight to the bathroom where he intended to get a bath.
After a couple of minutes, he got out of the bathroom ready to start a new day. First things first, he needed that diary. If he was going to start the Horcrux hunt again, he needed to get back the one he already was supposed to have.
He went out his room, down the stairs towards the kitchen, where his mom was sure to be.
He opened the door, and there she was. Lily was making breakfast.
"Good morning" Lily called, not taking her eyes off the stove.
"Good morning" Harry greeted.
"Oh Harry! I was sure you were your father" Lily smiled at him, "Isn't it a little to early?"
"What time is it?" Harry asked.
"6am" Lily answered.
"Then it is too early" Harry stated, grabbing a piece of toast.
"Breakfast will be done soon" Lily took the toast from his hand, "Why don't you eat with your father?"
Harry resigned himself to wait, and sat at the table while his mother finished cooking.
"Mom, did you go into my room this past months?" Harry asked Lily.
"I did a couple of times, why?" Lily asked, not taking her eyes of the food she was currently cooking.
"I can't seem to find a couple of things" Harry stated.
"I don't remember moving anything in your room" Lily looked pensive, "What is it that you are missing?" She asked looking at him, but quickly going back to what she was doing.
"A stone and a diary Nott gave me on Christmas" Harry tried seeing if Lily looked like she knew what he was talking about.
"A stone? Maybe you took them to school?" Lily asked, "They must be in your trunk"
"I didn't take them" Harry stated.
"Are you sure?" Lily pressed, and continued at Harry's nod "Where did you last see them?"
"I put them under a loose piece of wood on the floor of my room" Harry explained.
"There is a loose piece of wood on your room?" Lily looked at him, "That could be dangerous, I'll get your father to fix it"
"My things?" Harry tried to get Lily back into the topic.
"Sorry Harry, I haven't seen your things" Lily went back to finishing breakfast, "Don't forget to tell your father about the loose piece of wood"
Out the kitchen door angry stomping could be heard. After it looked like it had stopped, Danielle stormed in.
"Where you in my room?" Danielle accused Lily angrily.
"Excuse me?" Lily turned off the stove and turned around to look at her daughter.
"You took my things?" Danielle accused again.
"You are missing stuff too?" Lily asked confused.
"What do you mean too?" Danielle asked, but didn't wait for anyone to answer her, "Where are my things?"
"What is it that you are missing?" Lily asked annoyed, but tried to not get her temper win.
"First you steal my stuff and now you are trying to get into my privacy?" Danielle whined angrily.
"How am I supposed to know how to help you find your stuff if you don't tell me what the stuff is?" Lily started raising her voice.
"Aghh!" Danielle brought her foot down loudly, "You are the worst mom ever!"
"That is it!" Lily yelled angrily, "Go to your…" Before Lily could finish the sentence, Danielle had stomped out of the room, "Room!" she yelled after her daughter.
"What was that?" Harry asked concerned.
"Your sister has some attitude problems" Lily answered with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Since when?" Harry asked confused, remembering Danielle being an easy girl to get along with, if not for being a prankster.
"Almost the same time you went to school" Lily sat down beside Harry, trying to calm her self down. Breakfast forgotten.
"Has she been in my room?" Harry was trying not to get scared.
The change of attitude was something Ginny had once told him about, something she had gone through because of Tom Riddle.
"I don't think so" Lily said and then turned to look at Harry, "Are you accusing your sister of stealing your stone?"
"Maybe as a prank?" Harry tried.
"She hasn't done a single prank in months" Lily looked a little sad.
Harry was getting a little more scared than before, what if she did get the diary and now she couldn't find it? Since when had she lost it? It was obvious someone from Hogwarts now had it.
"Our lord is very proud of you"
The room was dark and elegant, from what could easily be seen as a mansion.
Currently there were two people in it.
A man, around his fifties, and a young twelve year old.
The man was sitting near the fireplace, facing the boy, who was sitting in a smaller chair.
"I can't go back to Hogwarts" the boy stated.
"Don't worry about it, you will go to a better school. Durmstrang" The man smiled at the boy.
"I thought you had told me Harry hadn't liked your gift" The man said after a couple of seconds in silence.
"That is what he said" The young boy explained.
"He was obviously lying" The man said with a big and frightening smile.
"How do you know?" the boy asked curiously, sitting on the tip of the chair.
"The Chamber was opened" The man explained it as if it was the most obvious thing.
"The diary was supposed to open the Chamber of secrets?" Theodore asked a little scared, "I could have been killed!" he exclaimed.
"No you couldn't have. Whatever its inside, it only kills mud-bloods" Nott Sr. explained, lighting a cigarette and relaxing into the chair.
"You don't even know what its inside it?" Theodore asked angrily, brusquely getting off the chair.
"It is not for us to ask" Nott Sr. raised his voice, and Theodore cowed back to the chair. "We just follow our Lord's orders"
"Yes, father" Theodore stated a little shakily, but his father didn't seem to notice.
Flashback
"Sorry for the mess" Lily sighed when she greeted her long time friend.
"Did I hurricane pass through here?" Laura tried to stifle a laugh.
Laura had decided to visit her friend and asked Holly and Danielle to babysit, since Danielle had stayed over the night before.
It had been a long time since Lily and her and had a time for them selves, to just gossip, or talk about nothing.
She tidied herself up and floo to the Potter's house. What greeted her was something she hadn't expected.
The room was a total chaos; soot was everywhere as if the house had been burned down. The cushions in all the sofas where scattered throughout the floor. Some sticky unidentified stuff was in the ceiling, and it looked like it had rained inside.
Pieces of wet paper where stuck in the walls, even some feathers could be seen floating in the air.
"Did you have a parade?" Laura asked, still trying to stifle a laugh.
"Not funny" Lily narrowed her eyes.
"Prank war?" Laura asked, knowing it was the obvious reason.
"That obvious?" Lily sighed, she just looked all around her, a bag in her hands.
"Danielle and James?" Laura asked again.
"Sirius and James" Lily huffed.
Laura's smile vanished. And she looked all around her again with now a shock expression.
"They act like 5 year olds!" Laura exclaimed, "Why aren't they cleaning?" She took the bag off Lily's hands.
"I told him yesterday" Lily said annoyed.
"I'm guessing he postponed it" Laura narrowed her eyes.
"He said he had a very important meeting at 4am" Lily said, obviously not believing her husband.
"He woke up at 4am?" Laura put a small smile on her face, "Well lets get to work. Is it only the living room?"
"I wish!" Lily exclaimed, "Upstairs, outside and even the roof is a mess for some reason"
"I'll start upstairs, you can start here" Laura started walking towards the stairs careful not to get anything on her shoes, with the bag on her hands.
It took them four hours to get the house clean, they still had outside and the roof to go. It now looked like a house.
"Here is the some stuff I wasn't sure it was trash or not, It's mostly from Danielle's room" Laura showed a bag to Lily.
"Put it in the cupboard, I'll look through it later" Lily said, and then threw herself into a couch where she fell asleep in seconds.
When Laura came back to the living room, she saw how exhausted her friend looked and opted to go back home, where she would keep Danielle for the rest of the day so Lily could rest.
She promised herself to get Sirius to come over later in the day and help James with the rest of their mess.
Flashback Ends
Harry had been summoned by his parents a couple of seconds a go to his father's study. He hadn't been there that he remembered so it took him a while to finally reach it.
It was a dark red colored room, with dark wood furniture; a small bookshelf, a single desk and a couple of white couches.
His parents where sitting in one couch, waiting for him. They looked just like he remembered from a couple of hours earlier, so he must not be in trouble.
He closed the door behind him and walked towards them.
"Please sit Harry" Lily gestured to the other couch.
"Is there a problem?" Harry asked.
"No, don't worry" Lily smiled, she played with her hands a little and then looked into her son's eyes.
"As you know, Hogwarts is now closed, so your father and I had to find an alternative for your studies" Lily started explaining.
Harry nodded now knowing why he had been summoned, and curious as to where he was going to go now.
"We are a light family, so that means Durmstrang is out of the question" James stated.
Harry didn't really wanted to go there, it was supposed to be really cold, and he didn't like the feeling the dark arts left behind when he used them.
"We read about Beauxbatons in a brochure Dumbledore gave us" Lily started explaining.
"We decided against it as well" James finished.
Harry was now shocked. He only knew about those three schools, there had to be others of course, but he didn't know about them.
"Why?" Harry asked.
"It is a preppy school. They basically teach you to feel and act superior" Lily said annoyed.
"Then where am I going?" Harry asked confused.
"We then discussed home schooling…" Lily said.
"We decided against it" James interrupted, Lily threw a dangerous look towards her husband.
"You are a twelve year old, you should be with other kids your age, be able to play and make friends" Lily explained.
"How about you tell me the final decision?" Harry asked annoyed.
"Wyckham Academy" Lily handed Harry a piece of paper.
"You start on the 2nd of February" James smiled, "Of course it is a long travel so we will all go a week earlier"
Harry took the piece of paper and saw that it was a brochure, portraying a huge stone castle with two happy students. The name –Wyckham Academy- on the center top, with big black letters.
He opened it and started reading.

Located near the beach, in the southern state of California in the city of San Diego. We can be proud to say we have the perfect environment for a great experience.
He stopped reading and looked towards his parents with a blank expression.
"It doesn't sound bad" Harry started, which made his parents sigh in relief. "Where is San Diego? I've never heard of it"
"In America" James smiled.
"What?" Harry exclaimed shocked, getting off his chair. "America? As in a whole different country?"
"It is one of the best schools in the world, only bested by Hogwarts" Lily tried to calm him down.
"It's another country!" Harry exclaimed angrily.
"With magic, it's only a couple of hours away" James shrugged.
"I can't go" Harry stated.
"Why not?" Lily asked.
Harry had no reason that he could tell his parents, but he had very good reasons!
The horcruxes being the best reason.
"I don't want to" He opted to go for the childish one.
"Then it is decided" James stated. "You are going to San Diego"
Before Harry could continue arguing a loud crash was heard form inside the house.
It shocked everyone in the room to have their wands in their hands.
"Danielle" Lily exclaimed scared and ran outside the study.
James and Harry ran after her towards Danielle's room. It had never taken them so long to get there, at least that is how they felt.
Once James and Harry reached Danielle's door the found Lily knocking and yelling for Danielle to open it.
"Danielle!" Lily tried to get the door open.
"Move" James moved Lily lightly aside.
Alohomora!
The lock could be heard unlock itself, James opened it quickly and stopped in shock for a second.
The room was a complete mess. The furniture was thrown to the floor, clothes were scattered throughout the floor leaving the closet completely empty, the bed was unmade. Finally his eyes rested on what he had been looking for.
In the floor, laying without moving, with a drawer on top of her, was Danielle.
Lily was the first to react, shoving James aside and running towards her.
James moved the drawer carefully away and kneeled beside his daughter, Harry behind him.
Lily turned her around carefully and saw a few bruises on her face, she was breathing, she was sweating profusely, her clothes were soaking.
"We need to get her to St. Mungos" James stated, taking Danielle away from Lily.
Lily's face was now wet, from the scared tears that were coming from her eyes.
With his daughter on his arms, he apparated both of them to St. Mungos.
"Come on Harry" Lily took Harry's hand and apparated them to meet with the rest of their family.
When they got there James was nowhere to be seen, so they went straight to the receptionist to ask for information.
"My husband just came here with my daughter" Lily said quickly once she reached the nurse.
"Name" The nurse said calmly.
"Danielle Kelly Potter" Lily almost yelled.
Harry started to make shushing sounds to calm his mother down, but inside he was scared as well.
"Through the hall, last door to your right" The nurse said.
Lily ran towards the direction the nurse had pointed out with Harry behind her.
Outside the door, they found James pacing.
"Is she all right?" Lily asked once she reached him.
"I don't know, they took her inside" James said a little nervously, his palms were sweating.
Harry just stared at the door, willing it to open and a healer to come outside.
After what felt like an eternity, a healer did come outside.
"You must be Danielle's mother, I'm Healer Davis" The healer introduced himself to Lily.
"Is he all right?" Lily asked.
"She is going through withdrawal" The Healer stated.
"Withdrawal?" James asked shocked.
"Is there a potion, or another substance she has been addicted too?" The Healer asked.
"Of course not!" Lily exclaimed loudly.
"Whatever it is, she has been into it for months" The Healer stated, obviously not believing the Potters.
"She is not an addict" Lily yelled angrily at the Healer.
"She is going through withdrawal, before it gets better it's going to get worse" The Healer continued, "The only thing you can do is support her through it"
Harry was shocked, an addict?
"She is not an addict" Lily repeated.
"Since she is a minor, I am going to have to report this" The Healer narrowed his eyes.
She felt cold and as if everyone kept throwing buckets of iced water to her. She was soaking. For some reason she couldn't move, she just didn't have the energy. She could barely even open her eyes. When she did manage to open her eyes, she only saw different shapes in front of her that kept making noises, she couldn't really see them clearly, and she had no idea if they could talk or only make noises, she was too tired to even care.
The only one that could even understand her was Tom, but she had been careless enough to misplace her best friend.
Who misplaces her best friend?
She was sure Tom would know what to do; he had the touch to always make her feel better. When she was talking to him everything else seems to not matter. Hours could feel like seconds to her, literally, she couldn't figure out how so much time passed when she talked to him and she didn't notice.
But now that Tom was gone, and Harry was gone, and Ginny was gone, she had no one.
She wished with all her heart that Tom would be able to find his way back to her. She was his best friend too after all.
It had been a whole day since they had come back from St. Mungos. Danielle had barely open her eyes two or three times in the day, and he was sure she didn't even know what was going on around her.
Harry was sure Danielle wasn't an addict. Not really. The only way Danielle would have been able to get addicted to potions, would be for someone to give her some. Everyone around Danielle loved her; no one would have wanted to get her this ill. If she ever left her house, it was to go to Sirius' house. She never went anywhere else.
Did Ginny get this ill when she left the diary behind?
How could he not notice?
Harry was sure Tom was doing this to Danielle, there was no other reason for her to be like this.
Danielle was currently in her room, where she had been since they had come back from St. Mungos. She had been laying in her bed, sweating and trashing, since James had put her there.
There was always someone with her, Lily, James or Harry; they never left her alone.
Right now it was Harry's turn.
"Tpjem" Danielle kept making moaning sounds, making him know she was in a lot of pain.
Harry got closer to his sister, and took a towel to start getting the sweat off her face.
"Tpjem" Danielle moaned again.
"Everything will be fine Danielle, I promise" Harry tried to sooth her.
"Tom" Danielle sighed barely audible. Harry heard her, and dropped the towel.
He was now sure, Tom did this to her. What he didn't know is if he would still have her in his control if he didn't destroyed the diary.
Could Tom have this control over her, even if she stopped writing on it?
He couldn't take that risk, could he?
He had to find that diary and destroy it.
Seeing his little sister in so much pain just made finding the diary even more important.
"Don't worry Danielle, I will find him" Harry told her, while moving her hair off her face. Danielle immediately calmed down, and looked as if she was sleeping for the first time in 24 hours.
"Harry" Lily called from downstairs.
They were expecting someone from the ministry to come over that morning.
The Healer had kept his threat and told the ministry about Danielle being an addict. Now they were going to be under scrutiny to see if Lily and James were good parents. This only made things worse, now they weren't only scared about Danielle, but about Harry as well. If they were found to be unfit parents they would take Danielle and him from them.
How Lucius Malfoy was never in this place he couldn't understand.
Harry grabbed Danielle's hand one last time and walked to where his parents where.
There was a sight he surely didn't want to see.
With his parents was a woman, toad-like woman. Someone he really didn't miss and didn't want to see ever again. With her huge pink hat and pink dress. Umbridge.
"This is our eldest son, Harry" Lily introduced him when he walked in.
"This is Mrs. Umbridge" Lily told Harry.
"Hmph hmph" Umbridge coughed.
"I'm sorry, Miss Umbridge" Lily corrected herself. She looked very nervous.
"Nice to meet you madame" Harry bowed lightly trying to be as polite as he could, which meant he was trying to be as fake as he could.
"Why don't you sit next to me" Umbridge said in a horrible sweet voice and with a very frightening smile.
Harry smiled lightly and sat next to her.
"So Barry, how old are you?" Umbridge asked him as if he was five years old.
"Harry" James corrected her, but Lily elbowed him.
"Oh how silly of me, Harry of course" Umbridge giggled, which made Harry's blood boil.
"I'm twelve years old, madame" Harry gritted his teeth.
"Open your mouth when you talk" Umbridge chastised, "How do think your parents harmed your sister?"
It shocked everyone in the room, Lily couldn't control herself anymore and tears starting coming out, James looked livid and Harry was crushing the cushion beneath him with his hands trying to control himself.
"They didn't harm Danielle" Harry said in a low voice.
"Here says otherwise" Umbridge sing-sang, while pointed to a folder she was holding.
"Well, here is wrong" Harry sing-sang back, pointing to the same folder.
"This kids don't have any manners" Umbridge said while looking at Lily and James.
"We would never harm Danielle or Harry" James said, not letting go of Lily.
"That is for me to judge" Umbridge smiled widely at James, "Now, where was I?"
"When did Danielle started getting ill?" she asked to everyone in the room.
"A couple of days ago" Lily answered.
"You stopped giving her the potions a couple of days ago then?" Umbridge started writing in the folder with a pink feather.
"I think that is enough" James narrowed his eyes at the woman.
"I would never harm my baby girl, she is my life" Lily got loose from James hold and walked towards the pink lady dangerously, "You have no idea what seeing my girl like that makes me feel" Lily pointed at where Danielle's room was, "She and Harry are my world, are my reason to wake up every morning. I would never do anything to harm them" Lily started raising her voice, "And you" she poked Umbridge in the chest, "are not going to tell me I am a bad mother"
"So there is where Barry gets his bad manners from" Umbridge huffed.
"Get out!" Lily yelled.
"I will be telling this to the ministry" Umbridge said before getting her things and flooing away.
When she was gone, Lily broke down.
"She is going to take them away" Lily started sobbing.
"No she is not, I'm not going to let her" James tried to calm her down, while making her and himself a promise to not let that woman near his family again.
"Harry why don't you go get ready, everyone should be here in a couple of hours for Christmas" James dismissed Harry.
Harry looked into Danielle's room to make sure she was still sleeping, she was. He went to his room to think and get ready.
A couple of hours later, Harry and Lily where in the living room, waiting for their guests. James had gone to get Danielle so she could be part of everything. She was still sleeping, so James just put her in the couch that was facing the giant, beautiful tree.
The first one to get there was Pettigrew, whom Harry was just not that comfortable with. Remus got there a couple of seconds later and Sirius and his family just a couple of minutes later. It was a very quiet Christmas compared to last years'.
Everyone had somber looks, even Sirius. They all looked at Danielle with worry in their eyes, but trying to not to let Lily see them so worried.
"Why don't we eat?" Laura said, trying to get everyone to think about anything else.
Joseph and Kyle started bouncing happily in their places, excited about the prospect of eating.
"Come on boys, why don't you help me in the kitchen" Laura told them.
Dinner was better, there was talking, and Sirius even made a small prank to Remus, which got everyone laughing, even Lily.
"Presents presents!" Joseph and Kyle started chanting and bouncing in their seats when they had seen the food disappear from the table.
Holly had been very quiet throughout the evening, barely noticeable.
They all moved to the tree, Lily and James sat near Danielle and watched as Kyle and Joseph started looking for the ones that had their names.
Harry and Holly opened their presents as well, but their hearts didn't seem to be in them.
"Did you go through the bag?" Laura tried to make Lily talk.
"The bag?" Lily asked confused.
"The one I put in the cupboard" Laura explained.
"I'm sorry?" Lily still looked confused.
"When I cleaned upstairs, I put stuff I didn't knew was trash or not in a bag. Remember?" Laura said gently.
"Oh, sorry Laura, it is still in the cupboard" Lily said.
"Maybe it can get your head off everything for a couple of minutes at least" Laura looked concerned.
"Maybe" Lily sighed.
"What bag?" Harry asked curiously.
"A coupe of weeks ago your father and Sirius decided to get into a war" Laura smiled, her words got all the kids attention.
"A war?" Kyle asked interested.
"A prank war" Sirius said ruffling Kyle's hair.
"Why weren't we invited?" Joseph whined.
"It was a very dangerous war" Sirius said smiling.
"Your father decided it would be fun to greet me with a blast of water" James threw a cushion to Sirius.
"And it was funny" Sirius started laughing.
"Everything got out of control after that" James continued.
"James thought it would be funny to put me upside down" Sirius said in a very disappointed manner.
"So that is why there were footprints in the ceiling" Lily narrowed her eyes playfully.
"After that, it was war" Sirius exclaimed.
Both James and Sirius started telling the story, which got everyone laughing and having a good time. Danielle kept sleeping peacefully through it.
"And the best part is that Lily and I got to clean everything up after them" Laura said.
"That was the best part" Sirius smiled cheekily, it earned him a slap in the head from his wife.
"Everything was chaos, even outside and the roof" Lily laughed.
"Since my husband had been part of the mess, I had to help Lily out" Laura explained, "I helped cleaning upstairs, Danielle's room was the worst"
"We didn't go into her room" James said confused.
"Yeah, we didn't go into any room, outside and the roof yes, but not the rooms" Sirius said looking confused.
"Well some magic must have gone there, because it was a mess" Laura said.
Both Sirius and James shrugged, but Lily remembered the mess the room had been when she had found her daughter laying on the floor.
"I cleaned it up, but I didn't know how much of the stuff was trash and how much were Danielle's so I put them in a bag , which is now in the cupboard" Laura finished.
"You put Danielle's stuff in the cupboard?" Harry exclaimed.
Danielle's eyes got wide open.
