Kripke owns. I just play.

Figures. They never catch a break, right? So why would this be any different?

Because he tried not to care?

Because he pretended to give up and tried to hide what he really wanted, what he really needed?

He'd thought if he exuded indifference, surely the powers that be would give him the opposite of what he appeared to want. 'Cause that's how it works. Dean Winchester wants something, needs something, life dangles it in front of him long enough to make it hurt the worst and then rips it away.

That's how it's always worked. He tried to find a way around it this time, tried to not want, to not need. Maybe if he were callous, cold, apathetic, then he would be allowed to have this one. No such luck.

Life had taken one look at his mask of nonchalance and laughed. Turns out, you really can't bullshit a bullshitter. And you can't cheat the system, not this one anyway. Figures.
