Zoe hurt.
She hurt in her heart, mostly. Why did she have to do something so-so-so stupid!
Now she lost Erik.
Now she lost all her friends.
Now she lost everyone.
Well, technically not everyone. She still had Stevie Rae, but it's kind of hard to hand out when your best friend's dead…. And she did have Aphrodite, but Aphrodite's human and she ran away after she lost her mark.
She was seduced by Loren, and then she found out she was just being used. Then when she helped Stevie Rae, all her friends left her because she hid her from them. Didn't they know that Neferet couldn't read her mind? And that Neferet could read theirs? And that if Neferet found out, well she didn't know exactly what would happen, but it would be bad.
Wait, no. They didn't know any of that because she didn't tell them.
What a great friend she was.
