Tonight is the Night

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Ron took Hermione to dinner at Lys, a French restaurant in Diagon Alley. It was probably the most expensive restaurant there. It was their three year anniversary. It was also the three year anniversary of the final battle, but that event had not been as happy for them as it had been for the rest of the wizarding world.

Since the battle, they had both gone back to school to finish their N.E.W.T.s. Ron had spent a year in Auror training with Harry. After a year as full Aurors, they were one of the most respected teams in the ministry. Hermione apprenticed for a year under Professor McGonagall, who had doubled as both Transfiguration professor and Headmistress, before taking over as Transfiguration professor. Despite the separation over the last two years, they were closer now than ever before.

Just before dessert came out, Ron took Hermione's hand. "'Mione, true love is the greatest thing in the world - except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe…" He stared off into space dreamily, mouth watering.

"Ron!" Hermione said, interrupting his day dream. "You were saying?"

"Oh, yeah. Sorry. True love is the greatest thing in the world. And that is the only way to describe how I feel for you. You are smart, funny, beautiful. I don't know what I did to deserve you." Pulling a box out of his pocket and opening it, he finished, "I guesss what I'm trying to say is will you marry me?"

"Yes! Of course, Ron," Hermione exclaimed, leaning over the table to kiss him. As Ron slid the ring onto Hermione's finger, their desserts came out. She only laughed at his distraction.
