Izaya was sitting on the roof of his parents' home. His mother had gone on another drunken rampage and his father had passed out again from another drug high. The three year old sniffed and wiped his eyes, the bruises on his arms and legs evident. He was absolutely terrified of the dark but much more so of his mother. He gazed longingly up at the stars in the sky, wishing to be one.

Suddenly, there was a bright white light next to him, and a man walked out dressed in bright white robes. He was really tall, causing Izaya to look up and stare at him. The little raven noted his short, mussed up brown hair with a golden light around it, his soft kind smile, the two silver rings on his pointer fingers, and, when the man crouched to look at Izaya, he was able to see the eyes. The eyes were enchanting; large and amber-golden, something he hadn't seen before.

"W-Who are you?" the little boy asked after a bit, scared of the man, but strangely calmed by his eyes.

"I'm your Guardian Angel."

"From where?"

"Valhalla."

"Val-huh-la?"

A gentle laugh sounded, "Close enough."

Everyday afterwards, Izaya would play and spend time with his Guardian angel…

…until one day.

"Angel! Angel! H-Hey.. Why do you look sad?"

"If I visit you again, I will fall."

"Huh? I won't let you fall! ... D-Don't leave me…"

Silence.

Then more Silence.

"I won't leave."

It was that very next evening; Izaya went outside and saw a bright light. It was falling very fast and getting larger by the second.

Suddenly, it crashed.

The ground shook faintly and Izaya ran towards it.

When he arrived, he wished he didn't.

There lay his Guardian angel. His eyes were closed. He wasn't wearing his white robes. His smile was gone.

The little boy cried a little and hugged the man.

"N-No…. Y-You can't leave me! I-I love you!" Izaya cried and clung to the ugly grey smock that the man was wearing.

"I-Izaya…"

"A-Angel?"

"Take my rings…."

"W-Why? Th-They're your's! Y-You lied to me! Y-You c-can't leave!"

"Take them…"

Izaya did as he was told and put them on. He then looked towards the man again.

"We will… Meet again…" the man smiled and reached out to hold Izaya's little hand. "I love you, Izaya.. Now… Go home… I promise we will meet again…"

Izaya cried more and more, he couldn't stop.

He loved the angel and didn't want him to be hurt or to leave. But, He had promised they would be together again, and Angels never lie.

Izaya went home, and never turned back, having complete faith in the angel that he loved so much.

A few weeks later, Mr. and Mrs. Heiwajima came across a little grubby boy of about 3-4 on the side of the road. He had no family, no memory, and an urge to be hugged and loved.

They adopted him and named him Shizuo, seeing as they were unable to have children at all, but loved them none the less.
