Hey guys!
Thank you so much for all the love you you gave the 200th fic! I am so glad that you all enjoyed it! And for those wondering, no that wasn't the last installment! I still have a few prompts to get through so there will still be plenty more to come!
PROMPTS ARE CLOSED!
This prompt is from happyaspie on ao3 - Main idea: Peter forgets to tell Tony that he injured himself doing something mundane in gym class. Probably because he's embarrassed and just didn't want to tell him. When Tony freaked out because he didn't get a suit alert. Peter tries to make up a much cooler scenerio. Tony doesn't buy it. Peter has to come clean. Let the teasing begin.
I hope you enjoy and apologies for any mistakes.
Just Another Day In Gym
Peter Parker blinked as stars blurred the edge of his vision and his mouth filled with sticky saliva. His stomach rolled and he breathed deeply through his mouth to quell the nausea that was steadily rising in him. He could not throw up in gym class. He'd never here the end of it.
"Dude!"
Peter heard Ned's panicked voice before he saw him. His best friend dropped to his knees, hand fluttering uselessly above him.
"Ned," Peter slurred out. "Tell me no one saw."
"Oh, we all saw you stack it," MJ's voice came somewhere from above Peter.
Peter groaned partly in embarrassment, partly in pain. His head was throbbing in his skull, and he could feel his heartbeat pulsing through his shoulder. Something was dislocated or broken, and Peter hated his life.
"Mr. Parker." Coach Wilson's face hovered over Peter. "Oh shh- uh. Can you hear me?"
"Yes."
"Okay, that's good. That's good," Coach Wilson muttered to himself. He cleared his throat. "Okay, can you tell me what day it is?"
"My death day," Peter slurred.
"Yeah, I'm going to need an actual day," Coach Wilson said.
"One of the ones that ends in day," Peter moaned around a mouth full of saliva. He really didn't want to throw up, but he thought he was losing that battle rapidly.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" Coach Wilson asked.
Peter squinted around the stars at the edge of his vision. "Stop moving them."
"Aww hell," Coach Wilson sighed. "Alright, everyone back up. Make some room. MJ, can you get the principal. Parker here is going to need an ambulance."
"Oh no, Ned," Peter slurred, reaching out for his friend with the arm that didn't feel like a thousand tiny fire ants weren't burrowing under his skin and lighting his joints on fire.
Ned grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze. "I got you. Don't worry."
Peter was really in no condition to argue and instead let out a little whimper. "Ned."
"Yeah?"
"The obstacle course was rigged, okay," Peter mumbled, eyes falling shut. "That's our story."
"Totally," Ned said. "Want me to go loosen one of the obstacles? Spill some water on it? Really sell it?"
"I love you, Ned," Peter hummed.
The nurse arrived and stayed with Peter and Ned while Coach Wilson headered the rest of the students away from them.
"Looks like a dislocation," the nurse clicked her tongue. "The paramedics will be able to tell you more when they get here."
"I hope it's soon," Peter mumbled between breathes. He could feel his healing kicking in and if the nurse was right, his shoulder would need to be put back into place before his healing got to far along.
The paramedics didn't take much longer and then Peter was being loaded onto a gurney and wheeled, much to his embarrassment, through the school and out into the waiting ambulance. Peter checked in and out on the ride. The green whistle they gave him did take the edge off, but his metabolism digested it quickly and by the time they reached the hospital, it had worn off.
Luck appeared to be on his side, and he was seen quickly. His shoulder was popped back into place and the very kind nurse didn't even blink when Peter threw up into the small basin she shoved under his chin.
"Sorry," Peter gagged wetly.
"Nothing we haven't seen before," the nurse chuckled softly. "Just let it out."
Aunt May arrived as he was being fitted with a sling and he gave her a watery smile.
"Oh sweetheart," Aunt May cooed softly as she came to his side. She pushed his hair back from his forehead in a familiar motion. She always did this when Peter was sick and it was a big comfort. "What have you done this time."
"The obstacle course was rigged," Peter said. "It was out to get me."
The nurse coughed but Peter could hear the laughter underneath.
May didn't even bother hiding her laughter. "I'm sure it was."
Peter pouted at her. "Aunt May!"
"Can I take him home?" Aunt May asked the nurse.
"You can. He's got a mild concussion so you will need to keep an eye on him. Any vomiting, dizziness or loss of consciousness bring him straight back. Peter also dislocated his shoulder. It's been put back into place, but he will need to wear a sling for the next few weeks until it's healed," the nurse explained.
"Thank you," May said, helping Peter off the bed.
"Yeah, thank you. And sorry for nearly throwing up on you," Peter added.
"You're welcome," the nurse laughed. "Feel better soon, Peter."
May got Peter discharged and got him comfortable in the car. As they merged into traffic, May snuck a glance at Peter.
"So, you're Spiderman and yet you stacked it in gym class on an obstacle course?" May said, the laughter in her voice barely concealed.
Peter groaned, letting his head thump against the headrest. That was a bad idea because it made his head swim for a moment and his stomach churn uneasily.
"Didn't your Peter-Tingle warn you?" May asked.
"Aunt May," Peter moaned. "Don't call it that. And it wasn't my fault. The obstacle was rigged."
"Ned can back you up on that?" May asked, shooting Peter an amused look.
"Yes," Peter said. "Because Ned is the best friend ever."
May laughed and Peter allowed himself a small smile. By the time they got home, Peter was feeling miserable and sore. When they got inside, May got Peter comfortable on the couch, placed a movie on with low volume and made a call for some take out. Then she gave Peter one of the pills that Bruce had designed for his metabolism and some water.
"Oh thank Thor," Peter said, taking the pill and swallowing it down with a gulp of water. "The green whistle did nothing."
May hummed, running her hand through his curls. "Sorry, baby. Just relax. Food won't be long."
When the food arrived, May joined Peter on the couch and they ate in comfortable silence. The pill had kicked in and the food only added to Peter's sleepiness. He was dozing on the couch, vaguely aware of May cleaning up around him when there was a knock on the door.
Peter was stuck between sleep and awake and couldn't quite push himself to wake up properly.
"Tony?" Peter heard May say. "What are you doing here? Everything okay?"
"Is Peter?" Tony demanded, voice worried. "He was supposed to be in the lab hours ago and he's not answering his phone."
Oops. Peter had totally forgotten that he was supposed to be at the lab today. Between the hospital and the pain, Peter hadn't checked his phone. He wasn't even sure where it was. He hoped Ned had grabbed it for him, along with his other stuff he had left at school.
"He's here," May said soothingly. "Sorry. It's been an afternoon. Come on in."
Peter heard Tony enter the house, May shutting the door behind him.
"What happened?" Tony asked, worry still bleeding through his tone.
"We had a small trip to the hospital," May said.
Peter drifted in the silence and then there was a sharp hiss above him.
"When did this happen? Why didn't Karen alert me?" Tony demanded quietly.
"Oh, this didn't happen as Spiderman," May said, her tone amused.
This had Peter jerking awake. He blinked blearily up at Tony, feeling groggy as he tried to sit up straighter. No, no way could Tony know what had happened. He would never here the end of it.
"Yes, it did." Peter voice was laced with the remanence of sleep.
Tony arched a brow at Peter. "It did?"
Peter nodded and immediately regretted the action. "Yep. Out on patrol. Robber was smarter than I thought."
Tony crossed his arms over his chest. "Is that right? And why didn't Karen alert me to this?"
Peter swallowed. "I hacked her again?"
"What did you think of my new firewalls?" Tony asked.
"Uh, a work of art, Mr. Stark. Really beautiful work. You should totally be proud." Peter flashed him a grin.
"Kid, you are the worst liar in the world," Tony smirked. "Spill. How did you do-" he waved a hand over Peter's general figure. "all this?"
Peter sighed heavily. "I stacked it in gym class."
There was a beat of silence.
"So, you're Spiderman and you –" Tony begun and Peter slumped back into the couch as May burst out into loud laughter.
"I hate you both," Peter grumbled.
Tony came and sat down on the couch, his laughter jostling Peter slightly. "Kid. Only you."
Peter pouted at Tony. "You're mean."
Tony grinned. "You swing yourself of the tallest buildings and you trip over your own two feet in gym?"
"Why couldn't I have just brained myself then and there," Peter huffed.
Peter jumped with surprise when a soft kiss was placed on his temple. He turned to stare at Tony who was looking at him with a soft smile. "I'm glad you didn't. You mean too much to us for that to happen."
Peter squirmed, his cheeks heating up and warmth blooming in his chest. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," Tony chuckled, and he ran a palm over the crown of his head. He flashed Peter a teasing grin. "I can't believe you fell in gym class. What about your tingle?"
Peter groaned, letting Tony and May's laughter wash over him. He hid his smile behind his good hand. It was worth the pain and the embarrassment because Peter had family who loved him and who were there to take care of him and that's all he ever wanted.
Happy reading :D
