Harry's First Morning as a Gryffindor

After the Sorting and subsequent feast, a fifth year prefect led the first years to the Gryffindor Common Room. Harry knew his way around Hogwarts like Potter Manor, including where all four houses common rooms. Because of this, when the prefect led them one way, Harry went through a tapestry, with Parvati, Neville and Hermione following (though Hermione was talking high speed about following the official way, before Harry shut her up by pointing out that his adopted uncles, great-grandmother and great-great-uncle were teachers at Hogwarts and that he knew what he was doing). The four came out opposite the Portrait of the Fat Lady. Harry said the password (Caput Draconius) and in the four went. They waited for about 15minutes before the prefect (who turned out to be Ron Weasley's older brother, Percy).

When Percy saw the four first years, that he hadn't noticed he was missing, he gave them a glare and started on his lecture.

"I am Percy Weasley, your fifth year prefect. This is Gryffindor Common Room, to the left are the girls dormitories and to the right are the boys. A map is on your bed with your trunks. The password to the common room is Caput Draconius. Good night."

After that dreadfully informative speech, the eight first years trudged off to their dormitories, not before Harry had to hex Ron as he was trying (yet again) to be Harry's best friend and ridiculing Neville, Parvati and Hermione (which was the best way to get yourselves hexed). Harry and Neville found themselves in the two beds next to the door, away from Ron. The other two boys introduced themselves as Dean Thomas, a muggleborn (Ron burst out ranting about Mudblood's, leaving Harry and Neville wondering why he wasn't put into Slytherin with Malfoy with his attitude) and Seamus Finnigan, an Irish half-blood.

The next day, Harry led Neville, Parvati, Hermione, Dean and Seamus down to the Great Hall, stopping only to hug Sirius and Remus who were also on their way down to breakfast. In the Great Hall they met up with Luna, Daphne, Astoria, Tracy, Terry and Padma. The 12 of them sat down to eat breakfast at the Gryffindor table. Percy started twittering on about the fact that everyone had to sit at their own tables and that he would be taking it up with Professor McGonagall. Harry's reply was asking Percy where in Hogwarts: A History it said that and also asking if Percy would be so kind as to say good morning to his Aunty Tabby for him. Needless to say, Percy quickly shut up and sat with the rest of the Weasley clan.

The twelve got their timetables, finding out that they all had Double History of Magic followed by Double Charms and a free period. This meant that they could sit and chat for five hours while doing their work and being the best at it. Life was good at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, for the time being…
