Chapter Four
"What do you mean a quest?! Didn't they just gain consciousness, like, an hour ago?!" Travis asked.
Annabeth stared up at the centaur as well. As engulfed with work as she was, this was her half-brother involved and she didn't want any unnecessary events happening only days before she left to go into possible ally/possible enemy territory. The quickly called meeting only dug into her planning and working time.
"It is inevitable, if what they have told me was entirely correct. Now, Rachel will be coming in soon to verify if there is actually a prophecy and a quest." Chiron stated firmly, glancing to the four dazed demigods sitting off to the side.
"They're what, thirteen?" Clarisse asked, sizing them up.
"I know one's fourteen, one's thirteen, and my brother's thirteen." Annabeth rattled of. She hesitated over the daughter of Hermes, who wasn't a friend of her half brother, so she wasn't as used to seeing her.
"Fifteen." Jayce stated.
"I have an early birthday, rem-" She cut her response off suddenly as she whispered her answer to the daughter of Aphrodite's unasked question, which was most likely Since when are you older than me? She then looked away as the girl did as well.
"Alright. I'm here. Who needs a prophecy?" Rachel asked, appearing at the door.
"Ah, wonderful. We need to see if there is a prophecy for these four ..." Chiron hesitated as if remembering something, "Though we aren't sure there is one." Chiron finished a second after his thought passed.
"Alright. How are 'ya?" Rachel asked casually to the young kids, "A bit young to be going on a potential quest?"
Three dazed nods and a shrug were thrown back.
"Well, that's nic-" Rachel's body went slack and Travis caught her, though obviously wasn't expecting to. He sat her in his seat, making Connor and Butch lean away because Rachel was fine as a mortal, but in Oracle form, she could scare the eyes off of Argus.
Four will fight the raving beast
And save the deities, west to east
Enchanted map and help so cruel
Will be the questers' cursed tools
Blinking back into consciousness, Rachel saw everyone's worried eyes.
"Uh oh."
"Are you sure pipsqueaks like them can 'save the deities'?" Clarisse questioned.
"Remember, a prophecy doesn't have it's full meaning until it's all over and done." Chiron warned.
"'Enchanted map', that sounds interesting. 'Help so cruel'. Hmm. Well, that's odd. Help, yet it's cruel." Annabeth analysed.
"Cursed tools? Well doesn't that make everything look shiny and bright." Leo mumbled.
"Um, I'm not sure what I'm missing here, but I for one am still kind of stuck on the 'raving beast' part." Travis spoke.
"That does sounds eerie." Katie agreed.
"When they say 'west to east', do they mean the west and east of America, or of the entire world?" Connor asked.
There were so many questions that needed asking, yet so little answers. Everyone couldn't help but feel bad for the four young teens.
"Dear Hades, we didn't even get a quest yet! How did you manage to get one?" Travis asked, before being smacked by Connor.
"My dear brother, since when were quests good?!" He shook his brother's shoulders, "It's not good for Rachel to go all boogedy-boogedy-boo on you!"
"I'm sure the quest will be fine." Piper tried to reassure her half-sister. They didn't speak much because Piper was always with Jason, Leo, or both, and Laya was always in the cabin being bored, but Piper knew the girl wasn't that bad. At both fighting and being nice.
"I guess." Laya mumbled back.
"Be sure to pack a first aid kit. Or wait, your friend's a healer right? Maybe a small kit, then. And always have drachmas. But keep some on you, because no matter what happens, you'll always find a point where you lose your bag." Annabeth warned her brother. At first, she thought it was all a fluke about the quest, but now, with a prophecy, she had to make sure her brother didn't die halfway through.
"Yeah. Sure. Okay." Luke replied, still a bit dazed.
"Hey, I'm sure this'll all be alright. Probably just some small thing, like doing errands, that Dad decided to broadcast to the Oracle." Will said nervously, both him and his brother seeing through his lie, "If it's dangerous, call someone from camp. Even if we're not part of the prophecy, we'll help. There's probably been a mistake somewhere. I mean, you guys are still too young to go on a quest."
He didn't mention, and Aaron didn't bring up, the fact that Percy Jackson had brung back Zeus' Master Bolt at age 12, a year older than Aaron himself.
While the four of them didn't like it, they knew that there was no mistake with the prophecy, nor the questers. They knew, because they all could hear the voices in their heads, and it didn't happen to be sudden schizophrenia.
Yay. Another chapter.
To be truthful, most of the OCs I asked for are minor characters in the background. Maybe some of the spies and evil ones will get a bit of a larger part, but I don't know. My mind is on the track of an idea, but sometimes it switches around.
And to Hayley TT Showbiz, Alexandra isn't mentioned yet, but she's there. I have her in the next chapter in a small part, but since she's a spy, it's likely I'll use her later on too.
