Zaelyn

Bright lights nearly blinded Zaelyn as she tried to sit up. Quickly, she realized she had no clue as to where she was. That was almost always not good. Her heart rate picked up, ands her breathing became a little quicker. How to get out of here... Last time she'd been in this situation, some weird sort of alien was trying to dissect her. She looked down at herself. She was fine, but her head hurt like hell.

Then she remembered what happened. Crashing, jumping, seeing the Doctor die, and getting hit with... With something as soon as he'd gone.

Oh, God. The Doctor was dead...

Where am I? She wondered again. She couldn't focus on anything at all. Not for long. All emotions just washed over her, and she didn't like it. Not feeling anything was not her style. She pulled a few needles from her arm. Then she realized what they were for. She was in a hospital of some sort. Not quite as advanced as her time, but... Good enough.

Zaelyn stood up just as soon as someone walked in, holding a portable display of data. He looked at her, surprised.

"So, where am I?" Zaelyn asked him, pulling on her jacket that had bed set on a chair next to the hospital bed... Or whatever the hell it was.

"You're not supposed to have recovered-"

She cut him off. "I'll talk to you as soon as I know where I am." And when... she had no clue of the date.

"You're on Starfleet's Enterprise," the man said quickly, eyeing her curiously.

"What, a ship?" Enterprise... Agh. She knew that name. Even from the year Five-billion two-hundred and twenty-seven, that word... That ship...
Then it hit her. The Enterprise was one of the first of Starfleet's ships, and it definitely travelled the farthest and stayed in use longer than most. She learned that from old-earth history class. "Wait, but I crashed back there- on Earth!"

"Yeah, and I healed you up here in space. But how did you recover so quickly?"

"Part human, part... Everything else." Zaelyn was referring to herself, of course. She looked human, she acted human, and she felt human... At least, what she knew to be human. "I'm just different. So who are you?"

"Your doctor." Bones didn't want to tell her anything until Kirk was down here... He'd called him down, so where was the captain? What was taking him so long?

Zaelyn shook her head. "No, my Doctor is dead. Tell me who you are." When the man- the doctor- looked like he wasn't going to say anything, Zaelyn spoke again. "I know we're on the USS enterprise, traveling in space, and going light speed. I know you work for Starfleet, and I know you're a doctor on this ship. Just give me a name." There they were- emotions. Felt like the drugs were wearing off. And she was starting to feel annoyed as hell.

The man sighed. "Bones. Now what's your name?"

Before she could answer, someone else walked in. Tall, blonde, and attractive with the bluest eyes she'd ever seen.

"Bones, what do you mean 'talk to her?' She's in a-" he broke off when his eyes rested on her. "What the hell?"

Zaelyn looked at him with a resigned expression. It was finally starting to settle in again that the Doctor was dead, and she was trapped here until she could find the TARDIS again. It didn't seem like she was getting back to it anytime soon. Oh, that poor old girl. Where was she? "Where's my ship?" Zaelyn asked, still annoyed.

The captain coughed and straightened up. "Your- your ship is back at Starfleet command being tested for hostile-" Zaelyn cut him off with laughter.

"Oh God, don't even try. No one can get in."

"Miss, we have the best-" she cut off the captain again.

"The best technology. Sure, you do. I'll give you that. For you time- this era, of course you do. But I'm from five billion years in the future."

The Captain raised his eyebrows. "You're a time traveller?"

"No, I fell through a crack in time," she said sarcastically, realizing that this whole time she'd been feeling fairly threatened. "Yes, I'm a time traveller, and I don't know your name."

He held out his hand to shake hers. "I'm Captain James Kirk. And you are?"

"Zaelyn," she answered simply. As Captain Kirk and 'Bones' gave her a look, she corrected herself quickly. "Ah-" she thought frantically for a last name, "Smith. Zaelyn Smith."
Well that was rubbish, but after traveling with a 'John Smith' for seven years, it was a little habit.
"What am I doing here anyways?" If she was a prisoner... Ugh. This wouldn't end well for anyone.

"You're... We saved you, I guess," the Captain chuckled. "And you're not a prisoner, if that's what you're thinking. You're just here until we're able to get back to earth."

Zaelyn groaned. Fantastic. "How long is that?"

"Maybe a couple months- do you have somewhere to be?"

Nope. She just had someone to save- the Doctor. And she could do it too. Zaelyn knew every possible way she could try would almost certainly fail, but she was going to do it anyways. She shook her head in response to his question.
"Do I have to stay in here?" Zaelyn looked at Jim, Jim looked at Bones, and Bones glanced at his equipment.

"Surprisingly, no. You've recovered," Bones declared, nodding to her.

The Captain subtly glanced over Zaelyn, hoping she didn't notice. She was small and pretty- actually, sexy was a word that described her better. It wasn't an opinion, it was a flat-out fact. Jim met her eyes, and gave her a small, flirtatious smile. "Would you like to explore the ship with me?"

Zaelyn raised her eyebrows, catching his wandering eyes. "Yeah, but /only/ the ship." She was not in the mood to be flirted with, but usually she didn't mind.

Bones rolled his eyes, and turned to go back to work. He had other patients who needed him.
Captain Kirk smirked, maybe a little surprised that he caught her. "Deal," he laughed.
