What Happens at the Mountain, Stays at the Mountain

Tin Foil

(AKA Keeping the Aliens Out)

Robin and Wally grinned wickedly as they snuck up on the green girl. It was Halloween, and the two troublemakers were dressed as the Joker and Mirror Master. It had always been their tradition to dress up as their mentor's villains for Halloween as a joke. And every year, they pranked one of their friends. First it had been Robin pranking Wally. Then he joined and they pranked Roy. Last year they pranked Kaldur. And this year was M'gann's turn.

Robin held a crowbar and wore a bright grin which scarily resembled the Jokers, but it did work well with his costume. Wally smirked and got ready to squeeze M'gann's sides to scare her. Seeing as she didn't know their traditions, they were doing a simple prank and scaring her into believing the Joker and Mirror Master had infiltrated the Mountain.

Right as Wally was going to scare her, M'gann turned around and smiled at the boys. "Your costumes are really great."

Seeing as they really weren't expecting that, the two boys jumped back in shock.

"How did you know what we were doing?" Wally asked, frowning a little now that the prank was ruined.

"I heard your thoughts," M'gann giggled. "I didn't read your minds, promise. You were just so excited that I couldn't help but overhear. Are you mad at me?"

"It's fine, Miss M," Robin sighed, upset that their tradition was over.

"Yeah," Wally pouted. With a single look he and Robin conveyed that it wasn't over yet.

Wally and Robin walked back to Robin's room to plot their revenge. Robin took a seat on the bed while Wally started pacing, deep in thought.

"Dude, we can't sneak up on her," Robin finally said after minutes of eerie silence.

"But we still have to try," Wally replied resolutely, pounding his fist into his hand for emphasis.

"What are we going to do, create tin foil hats to keep the aliens out?" Robin asked, rolling his eyes.

Wally's face lit up. "Brilliant!"

"I was kidding," Robin said.

"So? Even if it doesn't work we'll still look amazing," Wally replied.

"Fine, but we can't let them know what we're doing," Robin said, plotting already.

"Good. So we sneak into the kitchen, grab the foil, come back here and make the hats!" Wally grinned, excited.

"You distract Miss M, I'll grab the good," Robin instructed then disappeared into the shadows.

"I hate it when he does that!" Wally exclaimed and ran out the door.

Miss Martian was in the kitchen, trying once again to make festive Halloween sugar cookies. Only, sugar cookies were supposed to be golden, not black. She sighed and dumped the tray, then reached to get more foil to line the pans with, determined to get this right.

Wally ran in with a cocky grin. "Hey Megan!"

M'gann turned, forgetting the foil for a second. "Hello, Wally. Can I help you with something?"

"Actually, I thought I could help you," Wally replied. "You weren't going to ice those cookies, were you?"

In the background, Robin appeared, leaning over the counter to grab the box of tin foil. Wally focused on M'gann, trying to make sure she didn't turn and notice Robin.

"I was going to ice them, isn't that what I'm supposed to do?" M'gann asked, confused.

"No, for sugar cookies you put colored sugar on them," Wally grinned, pulling some colorful sugar out of the cabinet as Robin disappeared with the foil.

"Thanks, Wally," M'gann smiled.

She turned to pull her next tray of cookies out of the oven when it beeped. When she turned back with her tray of golden sugar cookies, Wally was gone.

Back in Robin's room, he and Wally were hard at work creating their tin foil hats. Robin made his to resemble Batman's cowl, while Wally's resembled a strange bowl.

"What is that supposed to be?" Robin laughed when he saw Wally try on his hat.

"Protection from aliens," Wally replied, then gaped as he saw Robin's Bathat. "I didn't know we were doing shapes."

"Of course you didn't," Robin cackled and put his hat on. "Let's do this!"

Robin and Wally donned sheets to act as ghosts and snuck out of Robin's room. With a few swift keystrokes, the power went out in the Mountain. Robin cackled and hopped on Wally's back as he ran to the kitchen.

M'gann was innocently icing her cookies with colored sugar when the lights went out. She frowned and looked around, wondering what was going on. Her questions were soon answered when the two 'ghosts' appeared.

"You have crossed the line, little Martian," Wally said in a deep voice.

"You have ruined your last batch of cookies," Robin added with an evil cackle.

"Guys, you can come out from under the sheets," M'gann giggled.

"Aww, the hats didn't work," Wally whined as he took his sheet off.

"I told you it wouldn't," Robin replied.

"That's because you used tin foil, silly," M'gann smiled. "Everyone knows that you have to use aluminum foil to keep the aliens out."

Just to let you know, that is the proper way to ice sugar cookies. Thank you boring class for letting me finish this. Did you know when people just stand around talking about chicken, it gets kinda boring?

Have a chicken flavored day,
