She doesn't know how to react. One minute she was concerned about whether or not her god father was going to survive the next. Now she's worried about her sister. What had happened to make her want her father so badly?

What had happened to make her father so ready to go?

A tug on her shoulder made her look over at her other sister. Laurel's motioning over to her mother's expectant face and she's not sure how to start. She looks over at Laurel again and her sister sighs.

"Oh Fine," Laurel breathed out, "Mum? You know that search that Sutton's been doing? About her-" Lauren pauses unsure how to word it. However her mother figurers it out.

"Real parents?" Kristin asked causing both Laurel and herself to nod sheepishly, "Yes, what about it? Did you find out something sweetie?" Hearing the word sweetie made her least favourite emotion come forth- guilt.

"Yeah, I did-" She felt a squeeze on her other side and realised that Mads was there after everything she'd been through tonight Mads being there for her just helped with the strength she needed, "I found out everything" Well not quite. A small part of her brain supported.

"You did?"

"I did, Mum?" She hated how venerable her voice sounded, she decided to go with the less painful one first, her first selfless act she's done in years, "I have a twin sister."

"What?" Her mother's voice sounded stunned, "what do you mean a twin sister? Sutton is this one of your…"

"It isn't" Laurel spoke up and Mads nodded as well and she's suddenly very grateful for her (half) sister and best friend.

"Laurel stay out of-" Her mother started but her sister held out her cell phone and she trailed off stunned.

"This is a photo of them both." Sutton's eyes widened, she hadn't even known-

"When did you take that?" She asked as she saw a photo of the two talking in the kitchen late at night. About Ethan her mind supplied.

"Couple of nights ago. I just wanted a photo of the two of you. " Laurel said softly, "I can get you a copy if you-"

"I want." She said softly and then turned back to her mother.

"Her name is Emma and she's been living as me for part of this year." She watched her mother's face and was surprised to see it completely blank. She wondered what her mother was thinking. Laurel

"Since when?"

"The day after we came back from France." she bit her lip, France seemed so long ago now. She remembered that very first video chat with her sister. It had started off so well and then went a rapid down hill.

"And that's who your Father has gone to see?" She nodded.

"Though he only found out about her last night." She said suddenly realising how it might seem. She then bit her lip.

"I also found out who our parents where as well." She started and her mother looked up at her sharply.

The sirens whirling wanted to make her run. But her daughter's hand clutching at her hand kept her firmly in place. She wished that her daughter had asked no sirens but she also knew that her daughter had needed her dad.

As well as her other mother.

She heard three doors slam shut and she knew that two of them had to be Dan and Ted. She just wasn't sure who the third one would be. She had two guesses (and even a possible third if Ted had in fact told Kristin) and her second guess was proven right as Ethan Whitehorse came into view moments after the front door opened and shut.

Really didn't people know about knocking? Her snarky voice asked in her mind. Thankfully she managed to hold her tongue knowing it wouldn't help Emma at the moment.

"Emma" Ethan breathed looking at her. He was looking at her the way she so desperately wished Ted looked at her. However, Ted was also looking at Emma, more or less her hand and how they were holding her own.

He then moved to let the older Whitehouse into the room and she felt her least favourite emotion come to light: guilt.

Dan didn't ask for this. He didn't ask for his fiancé to be killed. They were just pawns in a giant game of chess.

"Emma?" Dan asked causing them all to look up, "can you tell me what's going on?" Her daughter sniffled and her eyes shot to her. It was the first sign of movement since she'd hung up with Ted.

"I… Mum's… innocent." Her heart broke. This was what she wanted all along. Her daughters to recognize her as their mother. Ted was at Emma's other side in a moment, holding her other hand and she suddenly wished that Sutton was there to make the family picture but she'd settle for this.

For this moment even if she didn't want to wish this on her for anything.

"Are you sure?" Ted asked.

"Dad… I'm positive." She watched her daughter bit her lip and she smiled at the same time it was a quirk that she herself had until her next words sent chills down her spine, "It was Thayer Rybeck."
