Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long, I had a list of problems with me. Writer's Block, Missile school, cross country traveling...(etc) So in my form as an apology, I made the chapter a little bit longer! Still no 100K chapter talent :( I would if I had the time! Enjoy :)

Chapter 5

*Some weeks later*

I woke up the sun's light in my face. I jumped up out of bed, leaving my sheets still falling onto my bed as I threw on my school uniform. Aw, crap I'm late! I thought sounding not so happy. I quickly made my bed and grabbed my books and the sketchpad that Blake gave me. I ran down the halls while looking at the schedule for the day, and the time. The schedule said that I was supposed to be in the arena area for sparring matches with Goodwitch as the instructor for the class. The class was almost over, and it was almost lunch time too.

"Alright, let's do this!" I said to myself as I reached to the arena. I opened the door and I saw Jaune fighting Cardin on the stage. I looked up and saw that Jaune's aura gauge on the screen was roughly halfway gone while Cardin's was not even touched.

Jaune was panting heavily while leaning on his sword for support, showing his exhaustion to Cardin; who seemed to have not even broken a sweat. Jaune took a look at Cardin and found a surge of strength to attack.

Jaune charged at Cardin and swung downwards excessively at Cardin's left. Cardin easily stepped to the right and watched Jaune stumble past him. Cardin then snickered and swung his mace at Jaune coming in from a low point and bringing it upwards.

Jaune had barely had his shield in front of his strike so he went flying. Jaune's shield then flew out of his grip from the hard blow. Jaune then charged again with only his sword, but this time Cardin didn't dodge; Cardin caught his strike with his mace and held Jaune at bay. Cardin quickly overpowered Jaune, and I saw that he said something to Jaune. Jaune responded, but had the chance to finish from the looks of it. Cardin gave Jaune a knee strike his gut, and Jaune fell to the ground.

Cardin walked over to the downed Jaune and raised his mace upwards, as if he was going to finish him off. Cardin started to swing down, but there was sudden change in lighting and a loud buzz sound. Cardin stopped his swing suddenly and I heard Goodwitch's voice call out.

"That's enough," said Goodwitch. Goodwitch walked onto the arena's center and faced the class. "Students as you can see, Mr. Arc's aura has dropped into the red; in a tournament style duel, it would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit for battle and that the official may call the match."

"Simple enough, Cardin's brute strength and basic skills make him a formidable opponent for people like Jaune. I walked to the front of the class and ended up behind Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and Pyrrha.

"Mr. Arc, it has been weeks now, please try to refer to your scroll during combat; gauging your aura will help you decide when it is appropriate to attack or when it is better to move toward a more…defensive strategy," lectured Goodwitch.

"I wonder if Jaune needs help from his team. I can help, and so can everyone else, maybe he just needs to be asked…" I thought out loud. I looked at Jaune as he was holding his scroll, sitting on the floor. His face showed frustration and defeat.

"We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now would we?" said Goodwitch trying to lay down how serious she was while trying to be light-hearted.

"Speak for yourself," I heard just barely from Cardin as he walked off the arena platform. I held back myself from his snide comment. It seems that Cardin was a bully in general, and that I bet he still is teasing Velvet while I'm not around; and Velvet is too scared to say anything.

"Remember everyone," announced Goodwitch. "The Vytal festival is only a few months away and it won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing. Those who chose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale."

The bell for class to be over rang. I watched everyone leave the arena, Pyrrha kept on looking back at Jaune who was slowly getting up out of defeat. I walked over to Goodwitch to apologize for being so late.

"Sorry, for being late professor Goodwitch," I said sounding sincere. "I was up late writing and doing some sketches of Grimm anatomy, it won't happen again."

Goodwitch look at me oddly. "Well thank you for being honest and upfront, don't let it happen again, and did you at least see any of the class?"

"I did, I saw the last half of Mr. Arc's match."

"What did you think?"

"Well, I thought that Cardin was not as skilled as team RWBY, but his brute strength against Jaune easily overpowers Jaune's strength; Jaune has the talent and capability, but he is just having trouble with control and not using such big movements. Plus, his defense is lacking even with a shield that can be used while attacking."

"Excellent analysis Mr. Auditore…I mean Maslow." I did a double take at Goodwitch's correction.

"I guess Ozpin informed you about everything he knows, didn't he?"

"He did, but when in front of other students I still have to call you by the surname of Auditore."

"That is fine, thank you for your time professor," I said as I walked away and headed to lunch.

I walked past Velvet who had her face covered after rushing out of the cafeteria. I wanted to ask her what was going on but I decided to ask around.

"Atrocious…" I heard as I walked into the cafeteria. I saw that Jaune was looking down, literally as he walked away from his team. I caught of Cardin eyeballing Jaune devilishly before noticing that I was staring at him. Cardin quickly turned around acting as if I wasn't there. I grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down next to Pyrrha, with team RWBY on the other side of the table.

"So what did I miss?" I asked. Nora heard this and started her tale of how she and Ren fought off a pack of Ursi, in the dark, ending up making the Ursi rugs; Ren explained how they were only two Beowolves in the day. I laughed and gave a thumbs up to Nora for a job well done, she seemed pleased.

"It's Cardin again," said Blake. I saw that Blake was reading a book of some sorts. I looked at Cardin's direction trying to make him turn around by staring intently.

"What did he do?" I asked after a few moments before turning around to face everyone. Pyrrha explained to me on how he was been picking on Jaune and that he was just seen picking on Velvet.

"Uhm Skylar," said Yang cautiously. I looked at her curiously wondering why she speaking up suddenly.

"What is it?"

"Well your face…looked at little dark from when Pyrrha told you about the Faunus girl Velvet; you ok?"

"Oh sorry!" I apologized while calming myself down. "It's just that I thought Cardin would have more honor than going behind my back and bully Faunus again after he promised to never do it again."

"It must be hard to be a Faunus," said Yang.

"Didn't you just say that?" asked Ruby from out of the blue. I gave Ruby a grin at her calling out her sister like that. Yang reacted by pulling Ruby's hood over her head playfully.

"Cut me some slack here!" whined Yang. "I just wanted to sound cool!" Everyone started to share some laughs except for Pyrrha. She was still looking at the direction where Jaune walked out.

"Hey Pyrrha," I said while waving my hands in front of her. Pyrrha snapped back into reality as if she was in a trance.

"Yes? What is it?" she asked.

"You should go talk to him later this evening, because if everything goes well you won't see him at all next week."

"That can't be, we have classes and we have a joint hunting mission next Friday with team RWBY in the Emerald Forest. We are going to need our team leader, besides how would we not see him at all?"

"Well, I watched Jaune's match today and I think I can help him a little bit; so I am headed down to Ozpin's office later today and I am going to ask him if I can take a week or two on a "camping" trip with Jaune. Since I am a concerned teammate and all."

"I doubt that he would approve, even if it is Ozpin." retorted Pyrrha. I gave Pyrrha a mischievous grin.

"We'll see," I replied keeping my voice cool. Pyrrha seemed worried about my idea, but she didn't say anything to me afterwards.

About an hour later, it was time to go to our next class. We had history with everyone, even Cardin apparently as he sat behind Jaune. I personally liked this class the most just for the fact of the teacher, Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck, he had this weird espresso addiction that made him seem to move impossibly fast while standing still. The class itself wasn't too boring, it was about the Faunus war. I stared at the map of what the world looked like, trying to read what the papers say. Which is actually a little difficult sitting in the very back, which is the highest point in the class room.

"Now which one of you young scholars can tell me what many theorists believe to be the turning point in the third year of the war?" asked Doctor Oobleck. I had no idea, I actually never really studied; I have been brain dumping everything right after the day or when finish a test or paper. I saw Weiss' hand raise up sharply. Oobleck pointed at Weiss, "Yes?"

"The battle at Fort Castle," answered Weiss.

"Precisely, and who can tell me the advantage of the Faunus had over General Lagoon's forces?" ranted Oobleck. I saw Cardin flick something at Jaune who was sleeping, again.

"H-hey!" sputtered the half-awake Jaune. Oobleck heard Jaune and moved over to him so fast, that it took a second for me to register that he did.

"Mr. Arc! Finally contributing to class, this is excellent! Excellent!" cried out Oobleck excitedly. "What is the answer?"

"Uuhh…thhee answer," started Jaune as he looked over on my side of the room, at Pyrrha who was trying to give him the answer. I actually knew the answer thanks to being half-Faunus, it was night vision. I remember reading a little bit once about someone named Lagoon and a night raid on a Faunus fortress.

"The advantage of the Faunus had over that guy's stuff…" Jaune said very slowly while leaning to the side to look at Pyrrha who was directly behind Oobleck. "Uh…binoculars!" The class laughed at Jaune's answer, I had to laugh as well, and it was kind of funny.

"Very funny Mr. Arc. Cardin, perhaps you would care to share your thoughts on the subject?" asked Doctor Oobleck. Cardin was leaning back in his seat with his feet on top of his desk area.

"Well, I know it is a lot easier to train an animal than it is a soldier," said Cardin.

"You're not the most open-minded of individuals are you Cardin?" responded Pyrrha sounded real calm. I noticed that Blake didn't look too thrilled, but kept quiet to keep her secret hidden.

"What? You got a problem?" asked Cardin with hostility. I stared at Cardin angrily, wanting to just give him one good punch to the face.

"No, I have the answer," explained Pyrrha. "Its night vision, many Faunus are known to have nearly perfect sight in the dark."

"General Lagoon was inexperienced and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep; his massive army was outmatched and the general was captured," stated Blake. Doctor Oobleck was nodding his head and taking more sips of whatever coffee he was having while listening to Blake. "Perha-"

"Sorry to interrupt, but I have also something to add," I said interrupting Blake. Blake turned around and nodded in consent; everyone's attention was on me. "Not only was he inexperienced, but he also made a bigger mistake than just a tactical error."

"What would that be Mr. Auditore?" asked Oobleck.

"It is simple, ignorance; the general was ignorant of his enemy and didn't even think about what the enemy was capable of, leading to his capture by assuming that everything will go by his plan." I explained slowly. "If the general was OPEN-minded, maybe he would actually wouldn't have been known as such a failure." Cardin gave me a death glare that would even send a Beowolf running, he even tried to get up and face me.

"Mr. Winchester, please take your seat," said Oobleck tiredly. Jaune started to laugh at Cardin, but Oobleck did his crazy caffeine glide in front of Jaune. "You AND Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings."

Jaune groaned and I placed my hand over my face in disbelief. Jaune just had to go and toe the line; sleeping in class, making his "jokes" instead of answers, and laughing at other students.

After class as I was walking out with Blake, I heard that Pyrrha was staying behind to wait for Jaune. I was curious on how Pyrrha is going to talk to Jaune, I decided to follow them after I give them a few moments. I just hope I won't be interrupting anything private, I thought.

"Skylar?" called out Blake as she was waving her hand in my face. I blinked and shook my head, turning my attention to Blake.

"Yes?"

"Did you hear what I was saying?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't I was thinking about something; what was it?"

"I was saying, thanks for the backup with Cardin's ignorance; it was almost the same thing as what I was going to say."

"Oh it was my pleasure, and besides I hate all the hate to us Faunus; it is not intricate, it makes life primitive and hateful."

"Intricate? Why is life complex to you?"

"There are many different things that shows how beautiful life and the world is, simple as that." Blake smiled at that notion. "By the way, speaking of how beautiful the world is, thank you for the gift that you gave me; I can now draw some wondrous things with it."

"I am glad that you like it," said Blake. I smiled and noticed Yang with Ruby behind us, which reminded me that I needed Yang for a favor.

"Hey I need to catch you later, I have to ask Yang for a favor, and thank you again for the gift!" I explained to Blake hurriedly.

"Alright, I'll talk to you in a little bit," said Blake as she went on ahead of me. I slowed down and started walking next to Yang, Ruby was on her other side.

"Hey Yang," I said interrupting her talk with Ruby. Yang faced me looking surprised.

"Oh hey there! What's up?"

"I need a favor, and no one can know." Yang grinned mischievously.

"Sweet! What is the favor?"

"Well, I received a gift from Blake as a welcome to Beacon gift; so I want to give Blake a book as a gift for her, but the thing is I know that she is secretly reading a book that is hidden somewhere…" I explained trailing off about the hidden book. Yang's eyes lit up knowing what I want her to do.

"You want me to rummage through her stuff and find out what the book is?" I nodded.

"I can help too!" chimed in Ruby. "I saw the book before, but I didn't get to see the title of it; I know what it kind of looks like."

"It's up to your sister, I asked her because I know that she would do it." I said.

"Excellent! Ruby, I want you to find the book as I distract Blake tonight," planned Yang.

"What about Weiss? Isn't she going to be an obstacle?" I asked. Yang gave me a thumbs up.

"No worries, Weiss is always out late studying or something," reassured Yang.

"Great, you guys can come by anytime to my room too if you want; I am always going to up late anyways."

"Hehe, you can bet I will!" grinned Yang. I felt that wasn't the best idea. I looked behind us to see how Pyrrha was doing. I saw that she was picking up Jaune who was on the floor for some odd reason.

"Ok, well I will see you tonight then?" I asked. Yang gave me a smile and a thumb up; while Ruby gave me a friendly smile. I nodded and headed back to Oobleck's classroom to follow Pyrrha and Jaune. I watched as Pyrrha dragged Jaune down a hallway hurriedly.

"I hope that Pyrrha isn't going to confess that she likes him or anything, I would feel bad on eavesdropping," I said to myself as I followed them at a distance. They eventually ended up on top of a roof, while I was at the doorway hiding behind a wall. The door was thankfully left open so it is easier to hear, but I caught up in the middle of the conversation.

"…you made it to Beacon; that speaks volumes of what you're capable of!" I heard Pyrrha explaining.

"You're wrong," Jaune said quietly. I'm glad I came up here, I thought. "I don't belong here."

"That's a terrible thing to say, of course you do!" responded Pyrrha sounding surprised to hear Jaune to say that.

"No I don't!" retorted Jaune angrily. "I really wasn't accepted into Beacon…"

"W-what do you mean?" said Pyrrha. I thought she was surprised a second ago, but now she is starting to sound like she is in disbelief.

"I didn't go to combat school, I didn't pass any tests, I didn't earn my spot at this academy…I lied; I got my hands on some fake transcripts and I lied," explained Jaune rapidly sounding frustrated and depressed.

"What?" asked Pyrrha. Now she really sounded in disbelief. "But why?"

"Because this is what I always wanted to be! My father, my grandfather and his father before were all warriors; they were all heroes, I wanted to be one too…I was just never good enough."

"Then let me help you," said Pyrrha. I bet she doesn't want me to train Jaune, so she can be close to him.

"I don't want help!" cried out Jaune. "I don't want to be the damsel in distress, I want to be the hero!"

"Jaune, I…"

"I am tired of being the loveable idiot who's stuck in the tree, while his friends are fighting for their lives! Don't you understand? If I can't do this on my own, then what good am I? I peeked my head out to get a good look at Jaune to see how sincere he was about rejecting help. I took one look and knew right away that he was being a macho guy, trying to do things by himself.

Pyrrha reached out to him, trying to show that she wants to help still, but Jaune pulled back hastily. "Please, just go!" Jaune said sadly. "Okay?"

"If that is what you think is best…" Pyrrha said sounding almost crushed by Jaune's actions. Pyrrha then walked back to the door where I was to leave. I backed up away from the door just in case Pyrrha had a little bit of "Yang" in her.

"I'm sorry Pyrrha," I said quietly as she walked through the door; it looked as if she was on the verge of tears at the moment. "Don't give up on him yet, he is just overly stressed so he lashed out on you; I'm sure he'll come around."

"Why are you here?" Pyrrha asked carefully. I paused to word myself carefully.

"Well…I honestly came to see if Jaune would accept your offer to help him, 'cause I knew that you wanted to train him and not me; so thanks to these turn of events, I have an offer for you." I said making things up as I go along. I hope this works out, otherwise I'm probably screwed I thought.

"What offer could you possibly make me?" Pyrrha asked defensively, while curious at the same time.

"I take Jaune with me to train him if strength and conditioning along with some basic swordsmanship, and I give him to you for the real training." Pyrrha looked at me with eyebrows raised.

"And what makes you think that he'll agree to that?" I smiled at Pyrrha as if I had some evil plan.

"And made you think I was going to ask for his permission? Don't forget, I am going to have Ozpin let me take Jaune for a week and I'll have us meet up with you guys out in the forest on that Friday as an evaluation of his progress."

"You better not hurt him."

"He will be only hurt by his own deeds, if he doesn't do something right or follow my instructions he will hurt himself in the process." I explained calmly. Pyrrha looked worried for Jaune, as if I was going to kill him.

"I don't think I can do this." Pyrrha said quietly. I heard a familiar sound coming from Jaune's direction.

"If that is what you think, then come here and listen to this." I said leaning next to the door that was left ajar. Pyrrha leaned in and peeked through the crack in the door. I looked through above her and saw Cardin next with Jaune on the rooftop.

"How did he…" Pyrrha started to whisper, but I shushed her. I hand signaled her to listen to their conversation.

"…don't tell anyone about this please" Jaune begged. Cardin had an evil smirk that told me that he was going to blackmail him. I hate doing this, but it seems like I have to take advantage of Pyrrha's feelings for Jaune so I can help him.

"Jaune, come onnn! I'd never rat out a friend like that." Cardin said smoothly.

"Uh, a friend?" Jaune asked seeming confounded. Cardin walked next to Jaune and placed his arm around Jaune's shoulders, but then moved it into a headlock.

"Of course we are now Jauney boy!" explained Cardin. Jaune was gasping for air at this point. "And as I way it, as long as you are there when I need you; we'll be friends for a long time." Cardin then released Jaune, Jaune fell to the ground trying to catch his breathe.

"That being said, I really don't have the time to do those extra readings Dr. Oobleck gave us today; do you think that you could, take care of that for me buddy?" Cardin sounded normal, but the look on his face was far from normal. Jaune didn't even reply to Cardin's "request" before Cardin walked away and promised to keep his secret safe with him.

"Well then Pyrrha." I said stepping back to face a shocked redhead Spartan still looking at the scene of what has just transpired. "I think it would be for the best that I take Jaune now, for his own sake."

"Alright, but if you hurt him and I find out…" Pyrrha threatened, letting the threat hang in the air. I looked into Pyrrha's eyes and saw that even I would be in trouble; so I nodded in agreement.

"I got it, no hurting Jaune." Pyrrha stood up and composed herself. She gave me a formal goodbye and walked off in a brisk pace. I took one last peek at Jaune and saw that he was starting to come back to the door. I hurried off back to my room and looked at tomorrow's schedule.

Luckily, tomorrow was Friday and we only had two classes, it was Professor Port's class and Goodwitch's class after. I grabbed my scroll, a computer device that somehow works as an email, voice/video chat, and a team health display; I realized I haven't used it since I first got it and that the power was off. I should probably keep this on me more often, I thought as I turned on the power; I noticed that I had an email from Professor Goodwitch. I opened up the email, and saw that it was from this morning.

Mr. Maslow

Tomorrow during class, you will have a match with me so I can assess and rank you appropriately, everyone else has been ranked already. Please have the appropriate combat gear as you deem necessary. The results will be posted later tomorrow.

Professor Gylnda Goodwitch

I read the email a few times to make sure of what I just read. "What is this ranking system?" I wondered out loud. I decided to ask Blake to explain this ranking system that there is. I looked at the time and saw that it was only about 8:30 at night, so I grabbed my scroll and found Blake's name; I messaged her to come over because I wanted to ask a few questions. I walked over to my kitchen and set up some tea and had water on a kettle ready to be heated as I went to change into more comfortable clothes. I changed into some dark grey sweats and a black T-shirt. I checked my scroll and saw that Blake just messaged me saying she is on the way. I heard a knock on the door, so I walked over to the door and Blake in a kimono styled sleeping gown; and Ruby was there too in her rose petal sweats and black tank top shirt.

"Glad you could come on such short notice, and you too Ruby." I said, trying not to look at Blake too much. Blake looked very cute in her sleepwear. For a second I thought my face was a little red but I kept myself calm as possible.

"It was unexpected, but it was no real problem at all!" exclaimed Ruby.

"Indeed, I was just reading a book so it was no hassle." said Blake.

"Great, so how did Ruby here tag along?" I asked. Ruby looked at me as if I was saying I didn't want her to be here. "Not that I mind at all Rubes, Blake was just the first person I thought would be available."

"Good! Because I am your teammate too!" boasted Ruby.

"So why did you call me anyways?" asked Blake. I grabbed my scroll and pulled up Glynda's email.

"I was wondering about this ranking system, I missed the matches earlier today, so tomorrow is when I do my match." I explained as we sat down on the couch. Ruby's eyes went wide in excitement and Blake stared at me. "What?"

"It's just that, how do you know that we are ranked already?" asked Blake. Ruby stopped being excited for a moment and wondered the same thing.

"That's easy," I replied. "It was because I was late today for the matches and I didn't fight; so Goodwitch sent me this email saying that the results will be sent to our scrolls later tomorrow." I handed my scroll to Blake showing the email that Goodwitch sent me. Ruby poked her head around to look at the email as well.

"That is so cool!" cried out Ruby. "You get to go against Professor Goodwitch! She is an S class Huntress!"

"S class?" I asked. Ruby stared at me like I grew a second head.

"Don't you know the ranking system is?"

"I don't, that is why I called Blake here; I want to know what it is and why it's so important." Ruby started to talk, but Blake cut her off.

"Hold on Ruby, let me explain." said Blake. Ruby didn't look too happy to hear that, but she allowed Blake to explain instead.

"So this S class is high ranking right?" I asked.

"Yes, it is the highest rank you can receive; it goes down to A class, then B class and so on to F class."

"So I take it most people don't score very high their first year?"

"At the most first years are at B class if they are good enough," piped in Ruby. I looked down at the scroll now sat on the table between us, looking at Goodwitch's message. So I have to fight an S class huntress? I hope I can keep up with her, maybe even beat her by some odd chance, I thought. My scroll suddenly had a message that popped up. It was from Yang.

"Huh?" exclaimed Blake. "Is that a message from Yang?" I glanced over to Ruby, and she had the same idea as me; Yang found out what Blake's secret book was!

"Uhm, I guess so!" I said trying to keep a confused tone. Ruby seemed to take on a genuine confused look. I took the scroll and opened the message.

Skylar,

I found out what Blake was hiding, I will show you it when Blake leaves you and comes back. I can't say what it is, only show you.

Yang

"What did Yang say?" asked Blake. I kept my face calm and looked over to Ruby, who gave me a wink.

"She wanted Ruby to come back to the room, she message me since you two didn't bring your scrolls. She needs to talk to Ruby about something." I lied while giving Ruby a look to go along with it.

"UGH!" complained Ruby. "What does she want to talk about?" Ruby was storming out of the door but stopped. "Oh yea! One question for you Skylar!"

"Huh? What that be?" I asked. I had no idea what Ruby could possibly ask; she is almost as unpredictable as Nora.

"Why did Professor Goodwitch's message address you as Mr. Maslow?"

"Oh!" I exclaimed surprised. I forgot that it said Maslow instead of Auditore. "I recently came across some information that my surname is really Maslow, not Auditore; but I am not fully sure that is my surname. Can you keep it a secret for now please?" Ruby gave me a cocky grin and an affirmative hand gesture, then left the room. Blake and I sat in silence for a few moments, then I remembered the tea. I got up and made the tea. After I set down the tea and poured myself a cup, I took a comfortable breathe of relief.

"So what's on your mind now?" asked Blake. I stared at Blake in surprise. She knew me so well that she knows when I have something on my mind, even if I wasn't thinking it at that current moment.

"I was thinking about how I should go about the match tomorrow, I don't want to overdo things; so I was hoping that you could help me out, and with something else."

"Something else?" Blake looked curious.

"Well, I was wondering if you ever had experience in teaching."

"Teaching? Teaching what?"

"Combat basics."

"Actually I do, I taught some Faunus before when I was in the White Fang to defend themselves. Why do you ask?"

"Well, I am taking Jaune Monday morning into the Emerald Forest for some basic training in combat and I have no experience in teaching."

"What? I know he isn't the best fighter here, but is he really that bad?" Blake seemed worried for Jaune. I looked into Blake's eyes showing that I was serious.

"Okay, the thing is that Jaune faked his way into Beacon with some fake transcripts."

"How did he pull that off?"

"I don't know, but he confessed this Pyrrha, and I overhead it. So I pulled Pyrrha aside and I made a deal to teach him the basics while she will teach him the finer points in fighting."

"Why did you make this deal?"

"Well, I was worried for Jaune after seeing his match with Cardin; who I might tell you, heard this too."

"Oh no…" Blake was seeing at what I was getting at, I gave her a serious nod.

"Yeah, with Cardin blackmailing Jaune he will be trapped under Cardin's thumb; I am taking Jaune away for a week and we will meet up with everyone on the hunting mission that we have, showing the fruits of Jaune's training."

"Wow, you really are going through with this." Blake seemed impressed.

"Thanks, all I need to do now is get Ozpin to let me do that."

"Wait, you haven't even gotten permission yet? Do you think that he would accept a request like that?"

"Well, he is pretty unorthodox so I am sure he would accept."

"This is a little insane ya know?" Blake gave me a small smirk. I grinned proudly.

"Well, I have to help my friends right?"

"Right, so I am going to teach you on how to teach!" Blake then and there gave me some tips and tricks to help teach others in combat.

"Wow, I never knew that combat training could be such a delicate thing." I said in surprise after an hour or so.

"What? You never had formal training or something?" Blake teased. I gave her a shrug in uncertainty.

"I think so, I have been fighting on instinct mostly so I came to the belief that I was never trained, but I grew up fighting everyday with my sister in the forest to survive."

"That sounds horrible!" Blake exclaimed in shock. Who could live in the wilderness for so long?

"Once again, it is only an explanation to how I fight; which is what I am going to have Jaune focus his training on, strength and instinct."

"I see, so you think Jaune has no solid building blocks in fighting, but has some knowledge thanks to his time here at Beacon?" Blake concluded. I nodded in agreement. Man, why does she have to be so smart and cute? I thought helplessly while keeping a serious face.

"My thoughts exactly," I agreed. I took another sip of tea to process everything that we talked about. After a few minutes of drinking tea, Blake got up to leave. I stood up as well to say goodbye as well.

"Thanks again for coming Blake," I said holding the door open as Blake stood there in her kimono pajamas. Blake looked at me with the lighting in the halls gave her a soft glow. I felt myself turning a little red as once again the situation showed how beautiful Blake looked.

"It was not a problem," Blake said with a soft smile, but then looked at me curiously. "Are you alright Skylar? Your face is a little red, are you not feeling well?"

"Oh!" I exclaimed as I backed away from Blake's hand reaching out towards my forehead. "I'm fine, it's just the lighting."

"Okay," Blake said not sounding as if she believed me. "Well, goodnight Skylar."

"Goodnight Blake." I replied back and closing the door as Blake walked away.

I slid down with my back to the door. That was close! I thought. Why does Blake have to be so attractive? Do I really like her? I sat down there for a few minutes waiting to collect my bearings. As soon as I stood up, there was a knock on the door. I opened the door after a few seconds to make sure I was collected again.

"So, uhm…yea" answered Yang as I opened the door. I looked at Yang confused. Her face was a little red while holding something behind her back.

"I take it you found her secret book?" I asked cautiously. Yang just nodded and I motioned her in to take a seat. We sat on the couch next to each other in silence for what it seemed like was hours.

"This…this was the book that Blake was hiding," quietly said Yang. Yang handed me the book. It had a black cover, with a red band on the front.

"Ninjas of Love?" I asked feeling confused. "What is embarrassing with a little bit of romance?" Yang's face flushed red as I said that.

"Read some of the book, and you'll see why." I opened into the middle of the book and read a few passages from it. I felt my face turn bright red real quick. This story wasn't just romance, it was a smutty one that was almost like porn!

"Oh, oh!" It was all I could really say about that. Yang looked down with her cheeks red.

"Yea, so now what?"

"Well I know a guy who can help me with this, I'm headed into Vale tomorrow anyways for some equipment."

"Equipment for what?" I gave Yang the whole story with Jaune's match and the deal Pyrrha made (not mentioning the rooftop situation).

"So that's the whole reason," I said a few minutes of talking. Yang had a look in her eye that I couldn't figure out, for a moment...I suddenly found myself in a bear hug.

"Awh! That's so sweet of you! I love it that you're so nice to everyone, even Weiss! By the way, just give her time she will get better," Yang ranted as she loosened her hug on me.

"Thanks Yang," I said smiling. I then did something unexpected, I hugged Yang back firmly. Yang jerked slightly in surprise, but gave in and blushed profusely. I held her for a few minutes in silence. When I finally let go, Yang looked at me still blushing slightly. I noticed that she was cute like that, not her usual blonde bombshell persona she has.

"Uhm…that was a thing," Yang said quietly, breaking the silence.

"Yea it was," I replied. "Still, thank you Yang for that."

"Wait, what for?"

"For the hug, I really needed something one and it made all the stress about my memories go away, even if for a moment." I replied honestly. Yang's face then flushed red even more at that notation. "I'm glad to have such a wonderful friend as you."

"Well in that case…" Yang started off as she pulled me closer to her. I knew I was turning red then, because Yang's eyes were really alluring up this close. Yang pulled her face up to mine and gave me a soft, slow kiss on the lips. My eyes widened in shock but I eventually let it happen, and pulled back after a few moments.

"Yang…" I said so quietly, that it was almost a whisper.

"I have been wanting to do that for a while now, Skylar I am in love with you." I was shocked, I never saw that coming from Yang; she was always so…well "Yang-like" all the time. Now she was showing me a side that nobody has even seen before, even Ruby, I couldn't believe it.

"Yang I feel honored that you feel that way; I love you too, but more as a sister." Right after I said that, I felt horrible for saying it, but it was the truth. Yang looked heartbroken.

"W-wh-what?" Yang stuttered. I looked into her eyes, they were practically in tears.

"Look, you are one of the most beautiful girls I have ever met; now and before when my memories were lost. I want you not to get hung up on this, but it is okay to feel sad." As I was saying this, tears were silently were rolling down her face. "And just because I rejected you, doesn't mean I won't stop being your friend; you can always come to me if you want to talk about things that you don't want to talk about with the others, so please stay as strong as you fight!"

"Oh Skylar, how come you can crush a girl's heart and help mend it so easily?" Yang cried as she planted her face into my chest, sobbing for a long time. I held her gently against my chest, letting her tears stain my shirt and her hands gripping my arms as they were wrapped around her. When Yang finally stopped crying, her eyes were a little puffy still and still a little red faced.

"Feel a little better now?" I asked, making sure she was feeling at least okay.

"Yea, thank you for that and sorry for crying all over your shirt."

"It is no problem at all, and besides, I think you should know something."

"What is it?" Yang looked curiously at me. I gave Yang a gentle hug and spoke softly in her ear.

"That was my first kiss, and it was beautiful; thank you for that Yang." Yang's response was to hug me back, not letting go. I knew that she was crying some more, because her face was in my shoulder and I could feel the tears soaking through my shirt.

"It was my pleasure Skylar," Yang murmured through my shirt. I smiled and loosened the hug I had on her. Yang pulled back and smiled, her face was cleared up and smiling.

"That was fast," I said. Yang gave me an appreciative nod.

"Yes, well now for the serious question," Yang said seriously. I turned pale at that. I had a feeling that after moments like this, that a "serious question" was something dangerous for a male when asked by a female.

"What is the question?" I bravely asked. I held my breathe slightly, waiting for the moment of truth that was coming.

"What time is it?" I stared at Yang blankly. That was definitely unexpected! Yang, such a random and lovely girl; asking the most random question. I started laughing until I couldn't breathe. "What's so funny Skylar?"

"You!" Yang looked confused and offended. "I mean, the question threw me off guard; I didn't expect that to be a serious question!"

"Oh…" Yang laughed then with me. "But seriously, what time is it?"

"Oh it's…" I said trailing off while looking at my scroll for the time. "It is almost 11:00."

"What! It's late, how long have I been here?"

"Let's see…almost an hour and a half." Yang suddenly stood up to leave, and I got up as well.

"Alright, well I do need to get back; don't want the team worrying about me right?" I nodded in agreement. I picked up Blake's book and handed it back to Yang.

"Be sure to put it back where you found it without anyone knowing!"

"Oh trust me, I will." I smiled and gave Yang one last quick hug as she was leaving out the door. Yang gave me her normal grin and headed back to her team's room. I looked down at my shirt and saw that it had a lot of tears on it, so I took off my shirt and threw it in a dirty clothes pile. I walked over to my windowsill that looked out to the Emerald Forest. I couldn't help but thinking about what was about to come next week with Jaune.

"Oh Jaune," I spoke softly out loud to myself. "I hope you are ready for what is about to happen to you." I took a long look at the night sky and its unique moon before walking over to my bed. As I laid in my bed, I thought about what just happened between Yang and myself. I really loved Yang as a sister, but I knew that I really liked Blake the same way as Yang loved me. Man, I hope this doesn't come around and bite me. I thought as I drifted off into sleep.
