Love Me!
Chapter 4 Bella POV
After the tense Biology lesson with the youngest Cullen, I then head off to the last class of the day, which is gym. My human golden retriever, Mike, walks next to me like the faithful puppy he is, and asks what I did to Cullen, but I play it off like I didn't know what he was talking about.
I know one thing, he better get better fed, cause he almost exposed us in that classroom. Daddy and Uncles won't hesitate to end him if that happens.
I was able to sit out of gym class due to it being my first day and not having a suit. So I sat up in the bleachers and watched the other students while I half listened to my I-Pod Nano.
I also noticed that the older Cullen/Hale siblings were in here with me. They kept sneaking glances at me, well the boys did, while Rosalie glared, the whole class.
I ignored them all.
Once the bell rang, I went to take my signed slip to the office and noticed Edward Cullen there trying to get out of our shared Biology class.
What the hell is his problem? I thought to myself.
All he has to do is be well fed and if that don't work, just hold his breath for the hour. That's the risk with these "Vegetarians". They have more trouble with their bloodlust because they are not getting the right nutrients that come from human blood.
He was unable to switch classes and when he noticed me there with him, due to a gust of wind from the door being opened, he stiffened and glared at me again as I placed the signed paper in the basket on the desk and waved to Mrs. Cope.
He stormed out of the building and to his car almost too fast. I just shook my head knowing I should call Garrett and tell him, but I don't want him to think that I can't handle myself.
I got into my truck and drove to the Thriftway to do some grocery shopping for Uncle Charlie and cook him a nice big steak and potato dinner tonight.
I got to the house and unloaded everything and got started on dinner. I had lost track of time cooking and doing my homework that Charlie scared me coming through the door and callin' my name.
"Bells?"
"In here Uncle!" I called from the kitchen table. I got up and started to plate our food while he took off his gun belt and jacket.
"Sure smells good in here Bells" he said while taking his seat at the table.
"Thanks"
We dug in and ate while I told him about my day, including the Cullen experience. He told me that I needed to call and tell either Garrett or my dad what happened. I promised him that I would before going to bed.
The nights and days passed in a similar fashion with me talking to my man every night and going to class every day. I still haven't told him or daddy about what happened that first day and I know if they find out, I will be in serious trouble. Especially if they find out that I lied to Charlie about telling them and didn't.
The weekend was here before I knew it and I am moving into our place in the woods. The week was rather uneventful as Edward Cullen was not there the rest of the week. His siblings still stared at me at lunch and in the gym class, but they never approached me. Thank God.
The house is beautiful. It is a three story ranch type house, complete with a fully functioning basement, which would make it four stories. Only the 'Discipline Room' is down there right now and it is sound proof. The main floor has the entry way, the living room, dining room, state of the art kitchen with black granite counter tops and cherry oak cabinets, black stainless steel appliances and cherry hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor. There is also a full bathroom done in off white and tan accent colors. There is a meeting room and a game room on this floor as well.
The second floor consists of five bedrooms all complete with en suites and walk-in closets. There is our Master suite that has its own sitting area where the 40 in flat screen TV. is and a mini library with two overstuffed black leather couches and three arm chairs and a dark stone wood fire place is located.
Then there are the boys' rooms. Jaxxon has his race car themed bedroom with a race car bed, hundreds of different types of toy cars and trucks. He has remote control cars, trucks, helicopters and other types of vehicles. Alexander's nursery is a barn yard theme with plush animals all around and a mural on the wall behind his cherry wood crib of a safari.
The other two rooms are Peter and Char's suite that is done in earth tones and the shared office/library that is done in neutral colors.
The third/fourth floor consists of another five bedrooms with en suites and walk in closets for my father, uncles, any guard that comes with them or any other guests.
Outside is a small cottage of four bedrooms for the nanny's, other guards or hired help. Separate from the main house is the fifteen car garage that is filled with collector cars and trucks.
I spend the entire weekend shopping and unpacking things for all three buildings and come Sunday night I am exhausted.
I still spoke to Garrett every night and let him know how everything was coming with the house and the move in.
Monday morning came and I got ready for school as usual, not thinking about the absent Cullen. In fact, I haven't thought about him all weekend. My morning classes went by as usual, but as we were going to lunch, everyone noticed that it snowed and they started a snowball fight. I made haste to get inside the building using my binder as a shield from the onslaught of cold, slushy balls being thrown all over the place.
Inside I went and grabbed a turkey sandwich and lemonade since I didn't eat any breakfast or drink a blood bag. I sat at my usual table and next to Angela and Ben and started to eat and converse with them when Jessica nudged me saying…
"Edward Cullen is staring at you!" and giggled.
I just looked at her like she was crazy.
"Soooo?" I drawled out in a Southern accent I use sometimes.
Now her, Lauren and a few other girls at the table were looking at me like I was the one that was crazy for not jumping for joy at having him pay attention to me.
"BELLA SERIOUSLY!? You don't care that he is looking at you? What the hell is wrong with you!?" she practically screams at me. I can see the other girls nodding in agreement with her and practically drooling at the mere thought of him showing them attention.
I just roll my eyes at them and go back to talking to Angela about the trip they are planning for the beach down in La Push in a few weeks and continue to ignore the entire Cullen table. I can feel their stares on me the whole hour.
The bell rings and I go to Biology wondering if he is well fed today. He is not there when I get to the shared table and I take out my book and notebook and start doodling until class starts. A few minutes later I hear the stool next to me slide out and he sits down. I continue to ignore him and draw in my notebook, but I feel his eyes on me and then I hear his musical voice say…
"Hello, I'm Edward Cullen. I am sorry that I didn't get to introduce myself last week. You must be Bella Johnson?"
I decide to play with him to see if he slips up. I know about his mind reading gift and I know he shouldn't address me as 'Bella', but as 'Isabella' like everyone else at first.
"How do you know my name?"
He pauses and says, "I thought you preferred Bella?"
I say, "I do, it is just that everyone else called me Isabella until I tell them not to".
I turn to look him in the eyes to gauge his reaction. He is taken back that he let that slip, but before he can make an excuse, I ask him did he get contacts because his eyes are golden butterscotch today when they were black last week. Of course he covers it up and says "no", that it's the lighting, but I know better.
That's another mistake on his part.
We then quiet down and start class. We are doing a lab with onion root today.
"Get started!" Mr. Banner barks out.
"Ladies first partner" Edward says and slides the microscope over towards me.
I look in it and state, "Proface" and write it down on the paper.
"May I look?" he asks.
I just slide it back towards him. This goes on until we are done. He then tries to talk to me and hold a conversation asking how I like Forks, about my parents (which I just say that they are still in Italy, which is true) and things I like to do. I answer with minimal information given and mostly generic stuff and not really giving him my full attention.
The bell rings and just like last week, he bolts out of the class almost way to fast. Gym is uneventful as we are playing volleyball, my team wins.
Tuesday morning comes and as I am parking my truck about six cars down from Cullen's Volvo, I notice they are standing around it looking in my direction. I grab my bag and keys and get out, locking up behind me. I go to walk towards the building and the next thing I know, I hear a horrible screech of tires sliding and I look up and into the horrified eyes of Edward and turn to see that a blue van is heading my direction. Before I can move out of the way, I get slammed from the side and hit the ground and my head hard.
I am pinned, but still conscious and I see pale hands reach out and literally stop the van from hitting us and then I am being pulled/dragged out of the way of the oncoming tires. I see the hand lift the van up and out of the way before dropping it away from us. I look up when I hear the person, who I now know is Cullen and he is asking me am I okay and keeps me down as I try to get up.
"Stay down, I think you hit your head" he says.
I look up to him and ask in a fake shaky voice, "h-h how did you get over here so fast?"
"I was standing right next to you, Bella," he said, his tone serious.
I tried to get up again and this time he let me as we could hear the kids screaming and shouting at each other with tears running down their faces.
"Don't move," someone instructed.
"Get Tyler out of the van!" someone else shouted.
There was a flurry of activity around us. I tried to get him to admit to how he got over here so fast.
"You were over there," I acted like I suddenly remembered; "you were by your car with your siblings."
His expression turned hard. "No, I wasn't."
"I saw you." All around us was chaos. I could hear the adults arriving on the scene. But I was ignoring them and holding onto my argument; I was right, and he was going to admit it.
"Bella, I was right next to you, and I pulled you out of the way." He looked into my eyes and I knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to dazzle me into believing him. Unfortunately for him, it does not work on me.
"No." I set my jaw.
The gold in his eyes blazed with the power of the thrall. "Please, Bella."
"Why?" I demanded. I was having fun with him, but I kept my face hard and confused at the same time.
He he what an idiot! I thought.
"Trust me," he pleaded.
We were interrupted by the emergency crew coming and moving the van. If I was alone, I could have already moved it. They insisted that I ride in the ambulance and even put a neck brace on after that asshat told them that I hit my head.
Fucker.
I noticed as they were putting me into the back of the van, that his "siblings" did not look at all concerned as to his well fare like they should if they were human. They looked on with expressions ranging from disapproval to plain fury. I also noticed the silent conversation between Edward and Emmett.
We arrived at the hospital and they put me in the Emergency room where I had to get x rays and a CT scan. That is where I met the patriarch of the Cullen coven, Dr. Carlisle Cullen. I remember seeing the paintings of him in the castle and hearing daddy and my uncles telling stories about him. Uncle Charlie was waiting on me when I got back from taking the test and getting discharged.
"You okay kiddo?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just a bump on the head that's a little tender" I replied.
We went out and got into the cruiser so he could take me back to school to get my truck. I made sure the shield was covering the car so we could talk without being overheard. I told him what happened and how Cullen could have exposed us.
"You need to make sure that you tell your husband what happened today, Bells, or at least tell your dad." He says.
"I will."
Once I get home from the hospital and from picking up my truck, I go straight to bed and don't wake up until Wednesday morning. I get ready for school robotically, not really wanting to go and hear everyone ask if I was alright and blah, blah, blah.
One interesting note is the fact that the Cullen siblings seem to be pissed at Edward and he ignores me at lunch and in class. That's fine with me.
Thursday comes around and I am excited. Today my babies come home from spending time with their God parents. I really miss them.
It is warm out, for Forks anyway, but still overcast, so I dress in a very short blue denim mini skirt and a red quarter sleeve t-shirt and white leather belt with my red Jimmy Choos. My hair is braided in a French braid down the middle and I have on silver accessories.
Morning classes pass by in a blur with all the guys drooling over me and trying to ask me out. I head to lunch with Angela and Ben and grab a cheeseburger, fries and a coke.
I am eating and chatting with them about nothing in particular, when I hear the door open and all of a sudden hear…
"MOMMY!"
The entire lunch room gets quiet and everyone, including me, looks to the door as my oldest son comes through the open door being held my Char as she waits for Peter to come in carrying the car carrier that has my two month old in it.
Jax spots me and runs as fast as his little two year old legs can carry him to me giggling and screaming "MOMMY" the entire way.
