Sakura could have sworn she heard Sasuke hiss as she turned on the light. "Sorry, a little too bright for you?"

He was silent as always and just ignored her. Typical. Sighing, she muttered to herself, "Let's get this over with." Putting on a professional smile, Sakura chirped, "All right, Sasuke, it is time for your check up. I'll be examining the condition of your body and your eyes."

Sasuke harrumphed. "Like hell you will."

Sakura felt a vein pop out in her forehead. "Are you defying me, Uchiha Sasuke?" He looked over his shoulder at her and smirked haughtily.

That did it.

Sakura slammed him into the wall, holding him by the throat. "Now listen, Sasuke-kun," she sang with artificial sweetness. "If you don't cooperate, I'll make it so you can't see at all. Are we clear?"

Sasuke, though still sickeningly calm, eventually agreed.

Settling Sasuke in a chair, Sakura ran her hands along critical points in his body, making sure no signs of illness were developing. After all, it was speculated that Uchiha Itachi had died of a genetic disease. Covering his eyelids with her hands, she found that there was irreparable damage, though small. However, Sasuke would never be able to use his Sharingan again so that would prevent his condition from getting worse.

"All right, I'm done. Goodbye, Sasuke-"

"You're still weak." She froze in her footsteps. "And you always will be."

A pause.

"You're wrong."

The door slammed shut.

Sakura hated to admit it, but what Sasuke had said got to her. She scoffed. He was such an asshole; even now, he still affected her.

Stomping her way to the clinic, she found that Yamato was already waiting for her. There was a long gash down his arm, and he was smiling apologetically.

"Nobody else will take me," he explained sadly, and Sakura snorted. Yeah, right.

Calling him into the room with her, she asked flatly, "How did you get that?"

Yamato smiled. "Sakura, you know that's confidential."

Sighing, Sakura shook her head. "I know, I know." Placing her hands over the wound, she frowned when Yamato flinched at the touch. "What, are you afraid I'll hurt you or something? I'm perfectly capable of doing this; it's easy, taichou."

Yamato looked genuinely surprised, flustered even. "No, I-"

Sakura just waved her hand at him. "Whatever. Sorry, I just lost my temper at you there."

She cleaned the area and then began to heal it up, trying to drown herself in work. Yamato looked down at her fallen face.

"Sakura, did something happen?"

She froze momentarily but tried her hardest to ignore the question. Yamato exhaled. She was going to make this difficult, wasn't she?

"Sakura, you know I'm only asking because I care for you, right?" He nearly slapped himself in the forehead. While it was true, he did not mean for it to come out so sappy.

Sakura stopped her work for a minute and grasped her knees tightly. Biting her lip, she started, "It's just...Sasuke. He said some things. About me being weak."

Yamato's eyes narrowed. "Sakura, you know that's not true, right?"

She looked away. "I find that hard to believe."

Yamato sighed but a soft smile came to his face. "You know, I wouldn't have asked for you to take care of me if I didn't trust your abilities." Sakura craned her neck up to look at him, her eyes shimmering brightly. "You saved so many lives during the war. You helped bring Madara down, and people trust you to protect them. You're strong, Sakura. Sasuke doesn't know what true strength is." Yamato beamed at her.

Sakura wiped her eyes and sniffed loudly. Bringing her hands back to her patient's arm, she whispered, "Thank you, taichou."

When she was all done, she escorted Yamato out of the hospital, a coy smile on her face. Turning back to face her, Yamato said, "Thanks for tod-"

He was interrupted when Sakura softly pecked him on the lips. "Bye, taichou."

Yamato's face turned beet red, and Sakura swore she could see steam rising from it. "W-well, th-thank you for patching me up, S-sakura. See you later, I guess?" He ended with a nervous giggle, then proceeded to walk away dumbly, asking himself if what had just happened was real or not.

Hawk smiled at Obito. She had her mask on, but he could still tell that she was smiling. "Kakashi-senpai is coming today, isn't he?"

"Whatever," Obito grumbled, trying to get deeper into the wall. Hawk sighed. Obito glared at her. "What's that sigh for?"

Hawk laughed a bit. "I just think it's a bit ridiculous that you won't admit that you want to see him. That's all."

Kakashi sighed as he looked at the clock. He wasn't going to be able to make it today.

Kenta moaned a bit in the hospital bed. He was still unconscious from the poison that he was inflicted with earlier that day. Yet again, one more person had lied about the severity of the mission. This time, Kakashi was wiser. He took that person back to the village and demanded that a proper team be dispatched to take care of the mission. Still, that didn't mean that Kenta hadn't been injured at an inappropriate time. These kids were nowhere near ready to go into combat, and Kakashi recognized that. They literally had just graduated a couple months ago. He wouldn't put them in the Chuunin exams this year.

"Kakashi-sensei?" Chiharu asked timidly.

Kakashi smiled at her. "Yes?"

She fidgeted in place for a minute. "Is Kenta going to be okay?" Kakashi perused her worried expression, and he laughed a little.

"Yes, Kenta's going to be fine." He ruffled her hair fondly. "Go home and get some rest. I'll stay here with Kenta for now." Chiharu bowed and started to leave. When she glanced at Kenta over her shoulder, Kakashi noticed that her lower lip was jutting out, and her eyes were red. She dashed off to cry some more, Kakashi presumed.

Huffing a bit, Kakashi brushed back Kenta's bangs.

He would be a better sensei this time.

It was dark outside, and Kakashi still hadn't come. Obito cackled. Like he cared. Now he could have the solitude he always wanted. Finally, he was alone, he and his insanity-

What if something happened to him?

The thought came up unbidden, and Obito sneered. He didn't care. Kakashi could die; in fact, Obito welcomed it. It'd be one less disgusting face to see around. That self-righteous prat. Thought he was better than him. If he died, it'd serve him right. Then only he would be left, just the way it was always meant to be.

You miss him.

Obito snarled at the thought. "I do not!" he said out loud, startling the new guard. "You're crazy!" he rasped, not knowing if he was talking to the voice in his head or himself.

Sorry this took so long! Next chapter, there will be Kakashi Obito interaction. I promise.
