A bright light was flashed in Obito's eyes, and he groaned. "It's not even six, what the fuck."

"Get up Uchiha, you've got a hearing to get to."

Obito had no idea was going on. He was hauled to his feet and his arms forced behind his back, and he heard the metallic clink of handcuffs snapping around his wrists. "What do you mean a hearing?"

"Shut up," the guard responded as Obito's head was pushed forward so a blindfold could be placed around his eyes. "Walk."

It seemed like ages they were walking. Obito stumbled a bit; he was no longer used to walking this far, and he also couldn't see where he was going, a side effect of being blindfolded. They were brought to an abrupt stop, and the blindfold was taken off. He was in the Hokage's office, and he looked around. There was the council, and there was the Hokage, and there was…

Kakashi.

"What's going on?"

"Shut up!" The guard hissed, pushing him forward. Obito was now at a podium, at the center of attention of all those in the room. He knew it- he'd finally be getting the punishment he deserved. This was a hearing for whether or not he should be executed.

He knew that the prospects of life were grim, and he accepted that.

"Do you know why you are here, Uchiha Obito?" came Tsunade's booming voice.

He nodded his head. "Yes."

The council was called to speak. The elderly man said, "I vote that he stay in jail. He caused an entire war, helped wipe out the Uchiha clan, and killed the fourth Hokage. These offenses are atrocious."

The elderly woman voiced her opinion. "I think we need some more time to think about this. I haven't seen much of him myself, and I need to have more facts in order to come to a conclusion."

The last one, a younger man, said, "I think with proper therapy and observation of behavior Uchiha Obito can be integrated into proper and healthy society as a civilian."

Obito looked up. He blinked a couple times, but no one cleared anything up for him, despite his confused looks. Tsunade cleared her throat. "I would like to call up a witness, Hatake Kakashi. He is the one person who has spent the most amount of time with Obito, besides the guards." She motioned for the jounin to come up to the stand, and Obito felt his heart beat faster when Kakashi brushed up against his shoulder.

"I know Obito. He was my teammate when I was younger, and he was my friend. After the war…I met a different man. He was hostile, violent. A week ago, I brought my genin team to see him, and I saw the Obito I knew in my youth. It is my humble opinion that Obito can be rehabilitated." Obito's eyes widened in surprise. He turned to Kakashi, but his friend said nothing. A heavy silence filled the room, and Tsunade was clearly deep in thought.

Finally she spoke. "I think we should give this a try." She turned to Obito. "Uchiha Obito, starting today for a two week period, you will be put on house arrest."

"With who?" he blurted out.

"Who else?" Kakashi said, and Obito's jaw hung open. No way. He would be living with Kakashi. This was going to be a nightmare.

Naruto looked at the door to Sasuke's house. He put on a smile and greeted the guards. Everyone respected him after the war, and the guards were no exception. They gave him entry with no questions asked, and Naruto thanked them.

"Sasuke?" he closed the door behind him and waited for a response. There was none. He breathed out and laughed without humor. He wouldn't lie; he was nervous to be here. It was hard to believe, but this was the first time he had come to visit. There had been attempts, but he had never gotten farther than the sidewalk in front.

The house was dark as Sakura had said, and Naruto gulped. He really hoped Sasuke didn't try to attack him. Not that he couldn't fight back, Sasuke was pretty much helpless-but he really didn't want to have to go through that. He had enough of that in his entire lifetime.

"Sasuke, answer me."

"What do you want, Naruto."

Naruto sighed. It wasn't even a question; it was a demand. Sasuke was never one for pleasantries, and he figured it was worse now for his Sharingan had been taken away from him. "I came to visit."

"What makes you think I wanted that?" came Sasuke's cold voice. Naruto knew this would end badly.

"I didn't care if you wanted that, but I wanted it."

"Selfish as always."

Naruto chuckled. "Yeah, you're right. That's me." He turned to the door again and before exiting, he whispered, "It was nice to see you Sasuke."

Naruto immediately went to Sakura's place, not caring what time it was. He was not prepared for Yamato to answer the door. Shirtless.

"Um. Taichou."

"This is awkward…" Yamato trailed off. "I assume you're here to see Sakura."

"That would be correct."

"Want me to wake her up?" Oh god. Naruto shook his head wildly.

"I'll…talk to her tomorrow. See you later, taichou." Naruto then left and tried to scrub out the disgusting images from his mind.

Obito stared at the monitor around his ankle in the shower. It was a small payoff. He did have to live with Kakashi, but on the other hand, he had a bed to sleep on, and this was the first shower he had had in months. He watched the dirty water pool around his feet. He probably put a galloon of conditioner through his hair and ran his fingers through the strands. It had been so long since he had done that. He forgot how much he had appreciated having just a shower and not peeing and shitting into a bucket.

When Obito exited the shower, he found some folded up clothes at the edge of the sink. He slipped them on and found that they were warm. He walked out into the living room and found a note saying, "Out with students. Ichiraku's in kitchen."

The bowl was hot and still steamy. "Thanks for the meal." The ramen was delicious, and he tasted everything so vividly.

Obito didn't know if the saltiness he was tasting was from the ramen or from his tears.
