A loud, obnoxious noise ripped me from my wonderful dream that consisted of riding a jet-ski on our private lake. It took me a few seconds to realize that I wasn't in that beautiful moment. I was in hell.

My heart still thudding at the abrupt noise, I sat up to see what was causing it. The noise stopped only to be replaced by something equally annoying: the bedroom light turning on.

I only caught a glimpse of Lou standing there with two pans in her hands before I took sanctuary underneath my covers. My poor eyes were watering from being blinded and I simply wanted to die at the moment.

"You are the only person I know who can sleep through the alarm," I heard her say.

Alarm? What alarm? I don't care, go away. I didn't reply, hoping that she would leave me be. But of course, I'm not that lucky.

"Natalia, time to get up," she said. I cringed at how awake she sounded. Morning people can suck my dick. "You've got work today. Let's go."

Work? Pft, as if. My eyes remained closed and I hugged the blanket closer to me. I should've had a death grip on them because suddenly they were ripped off of me. Sitting up, I glared at my aunt who had the covers in one hand and her other hand on her hip. The urge to slap her was so strong, I'm not sure how I managed to restrain myself.

"What the fuck?!" I yelled.

"You better watch that mouth of yours."

She barely finished speaking when I started to shout at her. "I don't give a shit about my language! I'm trying to sleep and you decide to wake me up in the rudest way possible! Like, what the fuck? How about I wake you up like that and see if you don't act like a bitch?" I. Was. Livid. It's one thing to wake me up in the morning, but to bang pots together, turn on the lights, and pull the blankets off? Not okay.

"If you keep that attitude up I'm going to give you bad marks," she said. I wanted to snap at her, but bad marks meant more community service, so I forced my mouth to stay shut. "Now," she started and I couldn't help but to roll my eyes, "instead of those marks that I should give you for all the attitude and arguing you've been giving me, I've decided you can go dig a hole today with the boys and I'll count it towards community service."

I almost laughed. "I'll pass. I'm not going to have heat stroke by digging my own grave."

She raised her eyebrows. "So you do want the marks?"

Oh, my God. Why couldn't my life be easy? I sighed and rubbed a hand over my still-sleepy eyes. "No, but I don't want to dig a stupid hole. Why can't I help Pendanski?"

"Well, you can," she said, "but obviously that's not teaching you a lesson."

"And digging a hole will?"

She gave a humorless laugh and shifted on her feet. "Tell you what, you can help Pendanski and also help out in the mess hall."

"By 'help out' do you mean passing out the food and that's all?" I'll be damned if I clean up after these nasty delinquents.

Lou nodded. "All you have to do is put food on the trays and hand it to the boys."

I thought about it. It didn't sound like hard work. "Fine," I said, "I'll do that."

"I'll let the staff know. But, Natalia," her voice went stern, "this is your final choice. Any more backtalk, yelling, or rude gestures, you'll be out there digging. No ifs, ands, or buts. Got it?"

"Yes, ma'am," I said sweetly, knowing she saw straight through it. "May I go back to sleep?"

She looked as if she wanted to say 'no' but ended up tossing me the blankets. "You better not miss the water trip."

I offered her a bright smile. "Thank you, Aunt Lou." She didn't say anything and turned to leave, flipping the light off as she went. When the door shut, the smile vanished from my face and I snuggled back under the blankets. "Bitch."

The water pouring out of the tank looked so good. I had half a mind to stick my head under it. Not really, but this heat was ridiculous. I'd kill to be at the lake or ocean right now. Speaking of killing…

"Did you kill someone?" I stared at the fat delinquent, his water canteen still in my hand.

He blinked and gave me a questioning look. "What?"

"Did you kill someone?" I repeated myself more slowly. "Is that why you're here?"

He snorted. "Nah, I didn't kill nobody." He snatched the canteen out of my hand.

Defensive. He probably did commit murder, I decided. Looking up, I saw the next two boys staring at me, one shaking his head with a smirk. Squid? "What?" I asked.

"None of us never killed anyone," he said, handing me his canteen.

"Mmhmm," I said skeptically. "Then what did you do?"

He shrugged. "Stole some stuff."

"What about you?" I asked crazy eyes. He continued to stare so I looked back at Squid. "What's his deal?"

"He doesn't like people asking personal questions."

"Whatever," I muttered.

Pendanski came over then with his dumb grin. "Remember, boys, you have a privilege to have lunch and water breaks outside of your holes. Don't go abusing that privilege."

"How are they abusing it?" I asked, confused.

"The Warden specifically told them not to hold prolonged conversation with you," he said.

"Oh." I wondered if that was because she was looking out for me or if she simply wanted me to be lonely and have nobody to talk to. Probably the latter. Like I care. I was just ready for this summer to be done with so I could leave this place.

I finished filling everyone's canteens and went back to the main camp, where I didn't do much of anything until it was time for lunch. The same process happened and then again when it was time for the second water round. When we got back, there was a creepy looking cowboy talking to Lou on the porch. They both eyed me and it made me uncomfortable. Seriously, the man looked like a pedo.

"Natalia, this is Mr. Sir."

I raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Sir?" What was with the names around here?

"He's going to show you on over to the mess hall and get you set up there," Lou said.

Wonderful.

"Follow me," Mr. Sir said gruffly before walking off.

I sighed and turned on my heel, hoping that dinner would go by fast. I was also hoping that this man wouldn't try any small talk, but of course things wouldn't roll in my favor.

"Ya got a boyfriend back home?"

I scoffed. He really just asked me that. "Yeah? Why is that any of your business?"

He sniffed and spat on the ground. Nasty ass. "Bet he's not too happy with ya comin' here."

"Can we please not discuss this?" I snapped.

"Alright," he said and climbed the stairs to the mess hall. We went inside and he turned towards me. "Listen up. These boys can sometimes turn picky with their food and pitch a little fit. It's best to just ignore them. And don't give 'em any extra no matter how much they compliment ya. One scoop per tray."

"Gotcha," I said, ready to start.

He nodded to where a few older people were standing behind the buffet thing for food. "Head on over then. They'll get ya what ya need."

I left him to join the others who looked to be eying me down. "I'm helping out?" I said when I neared them.

One of the ladies snorted and grabbed a serving spoon from the counter and held it out to me. "That's all you need."

Grabbing it, I noticed how unclean it looked. "Don't I need a hair net or gloves or something?"

She placed a hand on her hip. "I said that's all you need."

"Check the attitude," I snapped. "I was only asking." Like hell I was going to let this woman talk to me like that. She sneered at me but kept her mouth shut.

I stood in the spot a man pointed me to and looked down at the food I was supposed to serve. Was this even food though? It forreal looked like puke. I almost felt bad for these delinquents. Almost, but not quite.

The first few boys that came in gave me a confused look but didn't comment. They got their food and moved on. Then it started to get more crowded and that's when I really had to control my temper. The cat calls and wolf whistles began, and I ignored them for the most part, but a girl can only take so much.

I wanted to stab the boy with my spoon when he made a crude comment about my breasts. Instead I simply told him to keep dreaming.

"Oh, I will, sweetheart," he replied and winked.

I clenched my teeth and took in a deep breath. I hate boys. If Alex were here he'd teach these losers not to disrespect me. Thinking of him made my heart ache. I was truly beginning to miss him and it sucked that I couldn't do anything about it.

"Baby, I know you can give me something more delicious to eat than this stuff." The greasy boy nodded in the general direction of what he was talking about and the other boys around him sniggered.

I'm done. "You're disgusting," I said and slung the spoon at him. It hit him in the shoulder but all he did was laugh. Without sparing a backwards glance, I left my spot and made for the exit. Lou could be mad at me all she wants. I thought about telling her how these boys were treating me, but she'd more than likely tell me to ignore them.

I reached the outside porch of the building when a hand grabbed my elbow, stopping me in my tracks. When I turned I came to face with that boy again. I am definitely taking a shower tonight, I thought as I jerked out of his grasp.

"I'm sorry, baby," he said even though there was a smirk on his cracked lips. "Seeing a gorgeous girl like yourself makes a man remember he has needs."

"Man?" I let out a giggle. "You are by far a man. I've got a real man back home."

A hint of anger flashed in his eyes but he covered it up. "Exactly. He's not here to keep you satisfied. And I can keep you beyond feeling satisfied."

One of my eyebrows raised. "I'm doubtful of that." I turned to leave, but he stopped me again and I was so close to swinging around and slapping the shit out of him. "Do not touch me again, asshole," I warned him with a raised finger.

He dared to step closer. "I bet I can change your mind," he said in a way that he probably thought was slick. "You'll be begging me to touch you over and over."

I was about to tell him exactly what I thought, but another boy came from behind me and inched his way in-between us. I recognized him from D-Tent with that wild hair of his.

"I think you should leave her alone," he said.

"I don't care what you think," the greasy boy said. He stepped back from the towering frame of the other though.

"You really want to start something?" I looked around the tall blonde to see the Mexican from D-Tent standing there as well. "The rest of our boys are about to show up, and I don't think you can handle all of us, man. Your choice."

The delinquent looked between them and then to me. "Whatever," he muttered. "She's just another whore bitch anyway." He turned and sulked back inside.

Whore bitch? How original. Crossing my arms, I looked at the two D-Tent boys. "What are your names again?"

"I'm Magnet and this is Zigzag."

"Okay. Well just so you know, I can handle myself," I informed them. "I'm not some defenseless little girl."

Magnet furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "We were only trying to help. I never said you couldn't stand up for yourself."

I grinned a little bit. "I know you two were trying to prove yourselves and show that you're better than these other boys. I appreciate the gesture, but my boyfriend is back home."

"My girlfriend is back home, too, chica," Magnet said and went around me into the building.

Zigzag seemed to glance at me. "You're not my type," he said and followed Magnet.

My jaw dropped a little bit. Not his type? "Believe me, you aren't my type either, dude," I called after him even though I knew he couldn't hear me. The nerve of that kid. Not his type. Please. I shook my head. Putting all of that behind me, I decided I'd better go ahead and face my aunt and get her bitching out of the way. Heaven knows I was going to get an earful.

A/N: Just a couple things. First, about Natalia's character. She's very shallow and when I write her thinking certain things it's not how I think in real life. For instance, Mr. Sir. I love Mr. Sir's character, I think he's hilarious and adds so much to the book and movie, but to Natalia he's a creepy cowboy. And morning people are simply amazing in my eyes since I'm not a morning person. Kudos to those who get up before 11am. But yeah, just wanted to throw those things out there since I'm writing her to be a very close-minded person.

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Let me know what you think.
