Chapter 6
The smell of smoke was in the air, as the night sky was over the heads of Team Silver out in the woods, the team was sat all around the camp fire, Elfman, Kane and Mira was all chatting about past history on the good times, mainly Mira wanted to find out what Lucy was like as a child, Laxus was sat up against a tree listening to his sound pod, but his eye's was on a certain person, who was stood in a tall tree wanting to have some peace for a little while, but what he had also noticed the small sadness that the stellar mage held in her eyes, as if she was thinking about something deep.
Ever since finding out that Lucy was a wolf Slayer, Laxus had become interested in her, and also to know what other secrets the girl held behind a shield she had placed up since her team had kicked her out. Actually he had noticed the ice wall she had built just after the weeks of partying of when Lisanna came back from the dead. At first she had become slightly depressed and lonely but when he saw she was going out on missions to destroy and take down dark guilds he had become concerned. Not thinking that she could do it, but each and everytime she came back with the mission complete.
Then there was the time when both she had Mira wasn't at the guild for a week, but then he had heard she was injuried quite badly, to where he had taken notice of the large scar going from her shoulder right across the chest down to her hip earlier on when he accidently stumbled upon the girl taking a bath in the river.
Laxus had wanted payback on when she knocked him out earlier, but after stumbling on her taking a bath, he actually got quite a beating and was amazed at her strength. Now he had been watching her for the past two hours, where she was stood up in the tree. Suddenly the scent of Kane was near him, he looked up "what do you want?" Kane sat down and handed him a bottle of water, "Thought you might be thirsty, and to also say, I've noticed that your watching my sister closely. I'm not sure if I should be worried or thrilled that someone's actually looking out for her."
Laxus raised an eye brow to his words, "What's that suppose to mean squirt?" Kane took a deep sigh, and leaned his back against the tree as the dragon slayer took the water, "Ever since our mother passed away, Lucy's blamed herself for not being able to prevent it, her father basically abandoned her after it happened. Jude promised our mother that he would love and protect Lucy but he did quite the opposite, he turned against her and Abandoned her. I wasn't allowed to visit the house and she wasn't allowed to leave the house either, she was on a tight leash, always having to study to become a proper Lady of the high status, just so he could marry her off, for money. I always hated that when I read the papers, some how though she always managed to send me letters, one of the lovely maids and butlers that was inside the mansion must have sent them out to me for her.
She always described her life inside the mansion with her father a living nightmare, loneliness was consuming her to the point where she couldn't feel any other emotion, she would tell me on how she missed seeing me and her mother greatly, but she didn't exactly explain to me properly on what happened every day in the Estate, but it must have been something big for her to just stop sending letters and get up running away one day.
When my pack had heard she had run away, Jude came straight to us at first thinking she had ran to me, he had come with wizards from this guild Phantom Lord but once we told them and convinced them that Lucy wasn't with the pack. They left but not before warning us that if we was hiding her then we would be hunted down and killed."
Laxus listened closely to what he was saying, looking back up to where the blonde was stood, wait.. she's not standing there any more, suddenly Lucy had jumped in front of them, "Kane, why are you talking about me?" her eye's was soft as if begging him to stop, "Cause I'm your biggest fan!" he spoke trying to cheer his sister up, by standing up and placed a hand on her head roughing up her perfectly neat hair. "Oi!" he grinned, and turned looking back to Laxus, "Don't abandon her ok?"
With that Kane walked back off up to Mira tickling her sides causing her to laugh, Lucy tilted her head cutely "Why do I have to have such a strange brother?" which caused Laxus to laugh slightly, "come and sit blondie ok?" giving out a sigh she sat in the place where her brother once sat. "what's up Laxus?" " I just .. want to know why your not smiling at the moment,"
This made the young wolf curious, "what do you mean? I'm smiling.." she pointed to her mouth but he shook his head, "Your eye's tell another story, Are you still thinking about what happened back at the guild?" giving out a sigh she looked up at the sky, where it was shining with so many stars, "Actually no, i was thinking about my parents, wondering if they found each other again up there ya know? Hoping that my fathers soft side was back and that mother was able to bring back his charming smile."
He reached over and flicked her forehead, "you need to stop bottling up your feelings you know, you have so many friends around you that worry about you, and your brother too, they all love and care deeply about you Blondie," Raising an eye brow, she looked to him, "Awe I didn't think you cared so much about me Sparky, but thanks, I know I shouldn't hide my feelings, but if I keep them to myself then I don't have to hurt anyone in some way. I learned that back when I was young, keep my mouth shut and you wont get hurt." She grabbed her right shoulder biting her lip, "Did someone hurt you back in your childhood?" she sighed, "Don't worry about it, it's not happening anymore so I don't have to deal with it. In any case, you all should get some sleep, I'll take the first watch."
Over at the camp sight, Mira was looking at the two blondes with her eye's sparkling, "oh my gosh, we so need to get them hooked up! They are just so cute together! I wonder what there talking about though." Kane had looked up to the beautiful woman in front of him, "I know what you mean, I'd love for my sister to finally have someone in her life that loves her more than what we do." This got Mira concerned "what do you exactly mean Kane?"
"Well Dove, back when Lucy was a child, she suffered, in a way, and still carries the scars she received back then today. An recently you told me on how the guild began to ignore her, then she was kicked out of that team of hers by that idiot, and received that scar on her lip from him.. in a way at the moment he reminds me of Jude her father." Mira covered her mouth, "She went threw child abuse?" Kane lowered his head, growling a little bit, "I'm not too sure but I think so. In any case, I'm glad that you and Elfman here didn't abandon her, she's been through enough of that for one life time. You lot make my sister so happy. Please continue."
Suddenly Lucy shouted over, "OI LOVE BIRDS, IT'S LATE GET YOUR ARSES TO BED! AND IN YOUR OWN TENT THIS TIME KANE!" Kane looked over to his sister, "What the hell's that suppose too mean!" she Grinned to him, " Just the fact that I know every mission we've gone on so far that you try and Sneak into a certain female's tent! Now get your arse to bed, we have a long day tomorrow!" sticking his tongue out Kane stood up, he held a slight blush on his face but suddenly got dragged off by Elfman,
"Whoa! Dude! I'm not sharing a tent with you!" Elfman looked to him sternly, "You've got a thing for my sister don't you?" With that Kane held up his hands sweating a little bit, looking around then back to him, "was it that noticeable?" he then saw Elfmans face and paniced a little bit, "please don't hurt me!" the man gave a slight grin, and smiled, patting Kane on the shoulder hard, "Now why would I do that? Your good to hang with, An be honest with you, I can't always keep my sister away from guys. Just one thing, you hurt her heart and I'll kill you!" Kane gulped "Aye sir!"
With that everyone had gone to bed apart from Lucy who was back up in the tree keeping guard on the first night watch.
Morning soon came, and the group was back on the road, this time without Laxus complaining about being in the carriage, the young blonde mage gave a slight Yawn, which caused Kane to look at his sister, "Was you guarding the camp all night sis? I thought you was meant to swap with Laxus around 2?" Lucy drove steadily, "I just couldn't sleep last night Bro, so I just stayed awake and let you all sleep, plus after knocking Laxus out last night it was the least I could do by taking his watch."
Kane rolled his eye's, "you always do this! Over exhaust yourself for other people, I don't mean to be rude but you do need to think about your own health for a while!" Rolling her eye's a little bit, "Kane you maybe the older one but I'm fine, I know what I'- MIRA! What the hell!" Lucy found herself being thrown into the back of the carriage while Mira took over driving, "Get some sleep!" Lucy would have argued back, but Mira had kind of gone Satan soul on her, which made her cower slightly next to Laxus. "Sleep!" Lucy looked to the rest of them for help, but when no one spoke up, well Laxus couldn't he had to try stopping himself from being sick.
Sitting back she sighed, but felt her eye lids, closing as she tried to force them awake but sleep eventually won, in which Laxus felt a light thump on his shoulder, looking down the exhausted stellar mage was asleep head on his shoulder. "that's better, but I wonder why she couldn't get to sleep last night" spoke Mira, who had seen Lucy snuggle up to their S-Class lightening mage. Kane thought about it, "Well she has had a few nightmares lately, I wonder if she's afraid to sleep cause of them?"
This caused everyone to look to him, "Nightmares?" he nodded, " she use to get them just after mother passed away, and since Jude abandoned her basically… there was no way she could get a peaceful night. Either way, she needs her rest," Laxus looked down to her again, "Yeah I heard her wake up a few times other the past few days screaming but she never told me why, Damn, Blondies had such a hard life," He looked to the scar on her lip, that just made him angry thinking on how Natsu could hurt such a sweet innocent girl. "Lets just hurry up and finish this job, I'm sure she would like to get home and sleep in her own bed." Not that he was complaining much, he liked the fact that Lucy was sleeping up against him, it eased his own motion sickness, and.. he had sort of developed some feelings with the young girl. Kane though smirked to him, "so Laxus whens the wedding?" *ZAP!* Kane leaned against the window, "Kidding!"
The group had managed to get to Hargeon in no time, as Mira's driving was clearly crazy once she got bored with the slow gentle driving, and in reality, she wanted to go shopping with Lucy, so once they finished up the job and collected the money off the man, Mira soon enough Dragged Lucy to all the clothing shops in Hargeon, They even dropped into the Magic shop where Lucy had got her Plue gate key, seeing the man that was there before, "Well hello! Nice to see you again!"
Lucy smiled nodding, "Yeah, do you happen to have any new gate key's in sir?" he looked to her remembering that she was the one that bought plue, "infact I just had a new shipment this morning, here.." he handed her a light purple velvet box, once she opened it, her eye's lit up, "oh my god! Please tell me how much this is!" he looked to her, "Hmm since you saved most of the girls in town when that guy tried to kidnap them, I think I can go with 15,000 jewels!" this made the girl extreamly happy and handed over the jewels straight away. "Thank you sir! Please contact me again when you have any more new shipments in!" he nodded as she waved him off exiting the store, everyone looked to her seeing she was happy, "So what did you buy?" Lucy grinned, and showed them a green gate key, " I didn't think these ones actually existed!" Laxus looked confused, "it just basically looks like another gate key to me, what's so special about this one Blondie?" that made her hit him on the head.
"this one is special, because for one, there is only a set of 12, just like the Gold gate keys, and maybe slightly more powerful. They are the chinese zodiac key's! and this little one here, is the Dragon! Extremely rare!" they all looked to her, "DRAGON!" She nodded and smirked especially to Laxus, "Yup, if I'm correct, her name is Amber." Laxus grinned back, "Well hurry up and summon her then!" this made Lucy laugh as she placed the key away that was with her other celestial key's, "Maybe later but for now!" her smirk went even wider, looking to Kane, knowing exactly what he was thinking "FOOD!"

Well folks that's it for this chapter, sorry there wasn't much action! But it's more of a sappy chapter! There will be more action in the next chapter though I promise you that! I'm just so glad I was able to update this story! I'm so sorry it's been so long! My laptop had been broken for months and was only just able to pay for a new one! In any case! Enjoy for now as I will update another chapter as soon as I can! LOVE YOU ALL MY LOVELY FANS!
