Severus hated what he had to do for the cause of the war- teach the blundering dunderheads for a starter. Now he had gone and killed his friend and mentor casting so much suspicion on him that no one would believe that he was actually loyal to the light. He had hoped that he wouldn't have to do it but he couldn't refuse Albus as much as he wanted to refuse him.
To top it off the Dark Lord believed him to be his most loyal follower but that did mean he could get out of raids a little more than he previously could. Now they had taken over the Ministry of Magic and were now effectively controlling the whole Wizarding World. He would never have thought it was possible but the truth was in front of him. He wished the light would get a move on and finish the war.
Severus made his way up the front stairs of Hogwarts to the entrance hall which was luckily deserted. The ministry had just announced that he would take over as the headmaster of Hogwarts and he really didn't want to take on that position or meet any of the fellow staff members. The headmaster's position belonged to Albus in his mind and no one else. He knew that Albus had a portrait in the headmaster's office which would be able to give him advice on how to run the school. He had to make sure that everyone thought he was loyal to the Dark Lord but keep the students from coming to too much harm. Severus knew it would be difficult as the Carrow siblings had also been installed as teachers at Hogwarts teaching 'muggle studies' and 'defence against the dark arts' but in truth Severus knew they would turn them into 'muggle hating' and 'dark arts' as their lord had ordered them to do. He had to let them do it but hopefully they wouldn't harm the students too much but he had a bad feeling about the coming year. The only good thing was that the blasted goody-two shoes Potter and his bunch of merry men weren't coming back for their seventh year but going to search for a way to destroy the Dark Lord.
Severus settled into his new office not changing much of it as he wanted to keep the office like how Albus had it in hopes of not aggravating the other teachers to much. He hoped we could work calmly with all the teachers but he knew it would be a hard job. He just hoped that the war finished quickly as he wasn't sure for how long he could successfully keep up the act of being loyal to the Dark Lord.
Severus looked up and saw Albus's portrait who gave him a bright smile showing that he understood Severus's position and would help him in any way he could without raising to much suspicion. He also knew that Albus was thinking that he could keep up the act as he had been fooling the dark lord for close on twenty years and had yet to have any serious repercussions.
Severus prayed that he would be able to survive this year without coming to, too much harm.
