Chapter 21

Duckburg Part 2

After defeating all of the Heartless, Molly and Libby made sure that all of the mansion's residence were alright. It was at that moment when the mansion's housekeeper, Mrs. Beakly showed up before embracing Webby in a hug.

"Oh, I'm so glad you aren't hurt, Webby!" Beakly sighed in relief.

"I'm okay, Granny!" Webby assured her grandmother. "It was thanks to Molly and Libby, here that we were able to get rid of those monsters!"

"Indeed! These two have been telling me that they have a plan to stop the problem for good!" Scrooge explained. "So, tell us. How do we get rid of the monsters completely?"

"You see, we need to find this keyhole to keep anymore Heartless from coming here, but we don't know where to look." said Molly.

At that moment, Scrooge began to ponder what Molly just said. In all of his adventures, he had never seen a keyhole that stops shadow monsters, but something like that sounded familiar to him.

"Hmm! I might have an idea of this keyhole you are referring to." Scrooge said before he took a book from a bookshelf. "According to this book, there is a mysterious temple known as, The Temple of Light and Darkness. It has been rumored that the temple contains a treasure known as, The Gem of Light, that can reveal the way to a keyhole."

"So, if we can find this gem, we'll be able to find the keyhole, right?" Libby spoke up.

Scrooge nodded. "Precisely! What do you say, kids? Ready to go on another adventure?"

Scrooge's nephews all nodded in response. As everyone got ready for their adventure, Scrooge asked his pilot, Launchpad to get the plane ready.

Before long, Molly and Libby joined everyone outside the mansion, where they took notice of the plane known as, The Sunchaser. Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby noticed how impressed Molly and Libby were with the Sunchaser and gave amused smiles.

"Is this your first time riding a plane?" Huey asked.

"Actually, Molly and I have been on other vehicles on our journey, but we have never seen a plane this huge before!" Libby explained. "Have you really gone on adventures in that plane? I didn't think Scrooge would let children come with him on those adventures."

"Hey, I'm pretty sure we are only slightly younger than you two are!" Dewey argued. "Besides nothing bad is going to happen to us."

"Nothing bad would happen as long as I'm around."

Everyone soon looked up to find out that Mrs. Beakly was coming with them.

"Mrs. Beakly? You're coming with us too?" Molly asked, surprised.

"Of course I am. Someone has to be around to keep you kids out of trouble." Beakly replied. "We should be leaving soon, so be prepared for a long journey."

With preparations ready, Molly and Libby were about to board the plane before they were introduced to the pilot.

"Hey, you must be the new adventurers Mr. McD mentioned! I'm Launchpad!"

"It's nice to meet you, Launchpad! My name is Molly, and this is my best friend, Libby!" Molly introduced.

"Is it true that you take the family on adventures using this plane?" Libby asked.

"Of course! Let me show you around!"

At that moment, Launchpad led Molly and Libby into the Sunchaser. The girls stared in awe at how big the plane was on the inside. Out of all the aircrafts that Molly and Libby had been on throughout their journey, they had never seen anything so incredible.

"Sweet baby corn! This plane is incredible, Launchpad!" Molly exclaimed.

Launchpad smiled. "Thanks, Molly! The Sunchaser is in perfect condition, at least until we would eventually crash."

Surprised by what she heard, Libby turned to Launchpad in shock. "Wait, what do you mean we would eventually crash?"

"Don't worry about it! You two might want to buckle up, we'll be taking off pretty soon!" Launchpad announced before he made his way to the front of the plane.

It wasn't long before Launchpad started up the plane and took off into the sky. While Molly stared out of the window in awe, Libby simply sat still in her seat, not wanting to get airsick.

The ride lasted for a couple of hours before Libby started to relax. Right as Libby was about to fall asleep, she was startled awake by the shaking of the Sunchaser. That was when everyone heard Launchpad's voice on the intercom.

"Attention, passengers! We are approaching our destination! Prepare for a crash landing!"

Hearing this caused Libby to freak out. "Why is he keep mentioning a crash landing? Are we going to crash?"

"Yeah, pretty much." Louie replied. "I'd say you'd get used to it, but you might want to keep your seatbelts on."

Suddenly, the Sunchaser plummeted from the sky as it quickly approached the ground. Frightened, Molly and Libby screamed as they hugged each other in fear.

Once the plane hit the ground, Molly and Libby were flung from their seats before Molly landed on top of Libby. Upon noticing the awkward position they were in, they both blushed before they made sure they were okay.

"A-Are you okay, L-Libby?" Molly stuttered.

"Y-Yes, Molly! I'm fine!" Libby assured with a blush.

Molly was about to get up before Libby gave her a quick kiss on the beak. After getting over her surprise by the unexpected kiss, Molly smiled before helping Libby up.

After everyone recovered from the crash, they stepped out of the plane to see that they were surrounded by ruins. Right in front of them was what appeared to be a temple.

"What is this place?" Molly asked as she observed her surroundings.

"The entrance to the Temple of Light and Darkness." Scrooge answered. "We should all stay close! There is no doubt that we would find more of those Heartless creatures around here!"

Scrooge would soon be proven right as a bunch of Heartless began to surround everyone. This time, Molly and Libby took notice of golem type of Heartless. They could tell by their size that they were going to be tougher to take down.

Without any hesitation, Molly and Libby summoned their keyblades as they fought alongside the Duck family. While Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby were fighting the regular shadow Heartless with Beakly and Launchpad, Molly and Libby teamed up with Scrooge to fight off the golem Heartless.

Despite their best efforts, Molly and Libby's strikes with their keyblades barely put any dents in the Heartless. Seeing that the keyblades weren't working, Scrooge leaped into the air and bounced on the heads of the golems with his cane like a pogo stick. This only made the Heartless angry, so they swung their gigantic fists. Molly and Libby quickly dodged before they decided to rely on magic instead. After getting hit by multiple fire, ice, and lightning spells at once, the Heartless were distracted long enough for Scrooge to sneak up on them and trip them with his cane.

The golems soon fell over and broke into pieces the moment they hit the ground. With the golems defeated, Molly and Libby helped their friends defeat the rest of the Heartless. Everyone soon began to relax, the moment the Heartless were defeated.

"Is everyone alright." Beakly asked as everyone nodded in union.

"Woo! That was amazing!" Webby exclaimed as she had fun with fighting the Heartless. "Do you two do this sort of stuff all the time?"

Libby nodded. "Yes, but I would say it is more terrifying than fun."

"Well, those key shaped swords really saved our lives. You wouldn't might if I borrow them for awhile, and maybe sell them after this adventure is over?" Louie asked Molly and Libby.

In response, Molly and Libby sent him a couple of annoyed looks as Louie started to remind them of a young Stan Pines.

"Okay, I get the hint!" Louie rolled his eyes.

Once everyone was ready to continue, Scrooge led everyone into the temple. Here, they encountered more Heartless to fight. Molly and Libby defeated any Heartless that attacked them while Scrooge focused on disabling the various traps that were scattered throughout the temple.

The further everyone traversed into the temple, the darker it got. Just when the temple was about to get pitch black, Molly and Libby took notice of a glimmer of light in the distance. Upon taking a closer look, they realized that it was the gem Scrooge mentioned.

"Hey, this must be it!" Molly exclaimed she and Libby rushed towards it.

"Careful! There is no telling what would happen if this gem is removed from its pedestal!" Scrooge cautioned, having had his fair share of temple explorations.

Everyone cautiously approached the gem as Molly was about to grab it. However, something didn't seem right to Scrooge. He took one glance behind him before his eyes widened in shock.

"Look out!" Scrooge then jumped in front of Molly and Libby before getting hit by a blast of magic.

"Uncle Scrooge!" The triplets came rushing towards Scrooge's aid as they helped him back up.

It was at that moment when Scrooge and his family heard an all too familiar laugh.

"Oh, Scrooge! I keep forgetting how clever you are!"

As he recovered from the blast, Scrooge soon realized he was face to face with his greatest enemy. "Magica De Spell! I should have known you would follow us here!"

"Don't act so surprised, Scrooge! It was only a matter of time before we cornered you!"

At first, Molly and Libby were confused with what Magica meant by we, but they soon got their answer when Xehanort stepped from the shadows. Even in his duck form, Molly and Libby immediately recognized him. They raised their keyblades in defense as Xehanort stepped closer.

"What are you doing here, Xehanort?" Libby asked.

With a sinister grin, Xehanort replied, "Magica asked me to help her gain the power of darkness. In order to achieve that goal, we need the power of a certain dime!"

With a gasp of shock, Scrooge realized that the blast of magic ended up knocking the dime from his neck. A mysterious aura surrounded the dime as Magica pulled it towards her with her magic.

"Hey! Give that back! It belongs to Uncle Scrooge!" Dewey yelled.

"Silence! With this dime, I shall become the most powerful sorceress who ever lived, and I shall finally bring an end to clan McDuck!" Magica gloated. "Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to prevent the Heartless from taking over, so we'll be taking this as well!"

Magica then grabbed the gem using her magic before Xehanort summoned a corridor of darkness that the two entered, allowing them to escaped from the temple. The moment their enemies escaped, the temple began to crumble as a result of the gem being stolen.

"The temple is collapsing! We should hurry and leave before we get crushed!" Scrooge yelled before he led everyone through the dark hallways.

As everyone made their escape, they noticed walls of debris blocking the way, so Molly and Libby slashed their way through the debris with their keyblades. Before long, everyone noticed a glimmer of light in the distance and realized that it was sunlight from outside the temple.

They rushed through the entrance of the temple and boarded the Sunchaser once again. Wasting no time, Launchpad took off into the sky before Molly and her friends observed the destruction of the temple from the window.

"Whew! That was close!" Molly sighed, glad that she and her friends make it out safely.

"Yeah, but Magica got away with the dime and the Gem of Light." Libby reminded Molly.

"Not to worry, lass! Once we confront Magica, we'll get them both back!" Scrooge assured.

"He's right! Let's just go back to the mansion and we can work out a plan from there." Huey suggested.

After their unsuccessful adventure, Molly and her friends sat down in silence as they began to think of a way to stop Magica and Xehanort.
