The next morning Sam was walking to his car. All he could think about was last night and Mackenzie.

"Hey man." Steve said coming up beside him.

"Hey." He said seeming distracted.

"What happened with Mackenzie?"

"I told her I love her last night."

"I take it it didn't go well?"

"She's pushing me away just like I said she would." "I'm not giving up." "I know she wants to be together again just as much as I do."

When Mackenzie woke up that morning she called Britt. Britt could tell right away Mackenzie was sad and upset. She went to her room. They were sitting on the couch.

"Sam?" Britt asked.

"Yeah."

"What happened?"

"Sam sent me a text last night asking me to spend the night with him." "I thought about it for a few minutes before deciding to go." "So I go, he had the bedroom lit was candles and he was waiting naked in bed for me." "When we were done, he told me he loves me."

"What did you say?"

"I freaked out." "I told him to get off me and I left." "He tried to convince me to stay, he said we can make it work this time."

"Just get back together with him Mackenzie." "You know you want to."

"I can't."

"Why?"

"I don't want to hurt him again." "If it didn't work out this time, it's not just me I have to worry about." "I don't want the baby to go through pain." "I know what it's like to go through the pain of divorced parents." "One day my dad just disappeared, even when my mom died he didn't come to her funeral." "Sam and I just need to stay friends, co-parents." "No more sex or anything like that."

"So you want Sam with someone else?"

"I want him to be happy." "It can't be with me." "We've already proven that."
