Her declaration rang in the air, and Hermione didn't know if she should say anything else or if she had scared Fred. It was true that they talked about falling in love with each other, but actually saying the words? She didn't think much about it.
"Fred? Say something, please," she whispered, practically begging him. "If you want me to retreat, I will, I jus—"
"I love you too," Fred said, stopping her babbling and kissing her like she was the most important thing in his life.
Their kiss was different from the others they shared that afternoon. Maybe it was the knowing of being a kiss of love, or just because they were in love with each other, Hermione couldn't put her finger to it, she just felt different.
"I didn't want to say and make you uncomfortable or thinking we were too fast, but I think I loved you for a long time now." Fred was looking at her as if he could see her soul. "I want the whole world to know I love you, and it's taking everything in me to not go to the roof and scream to the whole world now."
Hermione giggled, feeling lighter. "I understand the feeling, but I think you'll have to refrain from going, or else, I think my neighbours will call the police, and I don't know how to explain to them that my boyfriend is just bigger-than-life."
"For that, they would have to catch me, and I wouldn't make it easier on them," Fred winked at her and Hermione wondered, not for the first time, what Fred actually meant when he said things like that. "But right now, I would like very much to just spend some quality time with my girlfriend who loves me."
"I think I can help with that," Hermione said, smiling at him, before kissing him again. She would never get tired of kissing Fred. It was like he was the missing piece of her soul, coming home.
"Have you ever thought about soulmates?" Hermione asked some time later, her head on Fred's chest, looking at him.
"What do you mean?" Fred was caressing her hair, and Hermione was fighting to not fall asleep on top of him.
"You always heard about soulmates, you know, but I was wondering if you believe that soulmates are real," Hermione explained, biting her lip, realising how childish it sounded.
"I always believed in soulmates, but not in the way you're probably thinking," Fred said, looking at her. "My parents were practically a match made in heaven, having met at school and being together through everything. I always wanted to find something like that for me."
Hermione was touched. She always loved these types of stories, and always wanted the same type of love story she read in the books to happen with her, and seeing how Fred was looking at her now, she hoped they were heading towards that goal.
"I really hope you and I can have this type of love story," Hermione said, looking at him and hoping they were destined to be together.
"If I have my say, we would have," Fred said, kissing her and making her forget everything about the outside world.
