Chapter 69 – Malibu Barbie

A month had passed since the night Sirius told her he didn't love her anymore. A month has passed since she had seen her friends. They talked to the Potters and Remus every day and talked for hours on the phone. She hasn't heard from Sirius, but she has seen pictures of him with the same woman in the papers for the past weeks. He was clear – he didn't love her – it should therefore not be a surprise to her, but it was anyway. She had cried in Regulus' arms for an hour after that.

"Hi." Cor said coming into the bedroom. They were in a hotel room in Italy right now. He smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.

She cocked her head to the side. "Is everything alright?"

"We need to talk."

"Oh." That doesn't sound good. "Okay, sit." She patted the space next to her. He climbed into bed with her and took her hands in his. "Talk to me."

"I loved you for years, probably even before we got together. The first night I saw you on stage, you took my breath away." He was silent for a moment. "I'm still so madly in love with you and I want to marry you, but I can't."

"Cor, I-"

"Please, let me finish. This is hard for me." She nodded, squeezing his hands tightly. "I always wished you would get your memories back, you and Roan. And now that you have, you need to work through it, you need to reconnect with you friends, with Sirius. If, for some reason, it's really over between you two, I'm here. But -"

She shook her head. "He doesn't love me. Besides I love you."

"But you love him more." He kissed her temple when she opened her mouth. "It's okay, I wanted to make this work, you have no idea how badly. But I recently listened to your songs again, really listened. They are almost all about him... and your Patronus. Even though you couldn't remember, a part of you, a part of your heart always remembered him. I heard Harry say you have the same one as Sirius. That means something, babe."

"Just give me time. I'll move on from him, you just need to give me time."

"I don't think you will ever move on from him, just like he hasn't moved on from you."

"I told you, Cor. He doesn't love me, he told me so."

"I don't believe it. I've seen the way he looks at you. He's so madly in love with you it was noticeable the first time he laid eyes on you again."

She looked down at their clasped hands and brought them to her lips, kissing his knuckles softly. "Can you stay? Just for tonight."

"Always. Friends first, remember?" They shifted until they laid down, he pulled her onto his chest, giving her a soft kiss.

"I'm sorry I couldn't love you like you deserved." She looked into his big brown eyes.

"You letting me in, you loving me to the best of your ability was more than I deserved."

She cupped his cheeks and leaned in to kiss him. A hand went into his hair while he placed his hands on her hips. They both knew this was the end, their last night together and they wanted to savour it. The next morning, he placed a kiss on her forehead before he walked out of the room. Izzie cried herself back to sleep and when she woke again, Regulus had pulled her into his lap, whispering softly to her.

The tour was coming to an end, and their last and final stop was back in London. She knew the papers were filled with headlines over her broken engagement. But she hasn't heard a word from Sirius. He really didn't love her anymore.

Instead of apparating, Regulus and Izzie walked over to Potter Mansion. They were both too nervous to try to apparate. Lily invited them for a welcome home dinner.

She squeezed his hand when the house came into view. "Ready to see Remus?"

"I haven't felt so nervous in years." He chuckled dryly. "But Remus always had that effect on me."

"It will be fine. He loves you. You're going on a date in a few days, aren't you?"

"Yeah." He said with a goofy smile.

"I'm happy for you." She leaned against him, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Finally, after all these years, you'll get your happy ending."

"Izzie-"

"Regulus, don't." She whispered and because she said his full name, he did as he was told. They had reached the doorstep and with shaking hands, she rang the doorbell. The door opened not even a second later. A flash of red hair obscured her vision as a body slammed into her. "Hi, Lils."

"I missed you, my big rockstar."

"I missed you too, so much." They pulled back and Lily wrapped her arms around a surprised Regulus.

"I need to warn you." Lily looked over her shoulder and looked back with guilt written over her face. Izzie stomach dropped. "Sirius brought someone."

Izzie saw Regulus clench his hands into fists. "Okay."

"Okay?" The two of them asked.

"Yeah, okay." She offered them a smile even though her heart broke. The others didn't seem convinced by her smile. "It's good that he's happy."

"Isabe-"

"Remus?" She called into the house before side stepping Lily quickly. The next moment, she was wrapped in his strong arms. "I missed you too." She chuckled against his chest.

"We're eating out in the garden." Lily said, gesturing them to the other side. Remus didn't unwrap his arm from around her, but he did lean in to give Reg a kiss on the cheek."

"Hey, rockstar."

"Hi." Regulus blushed, more and more of Regulus old character traits seem to pop up, especially when he was around Remus.

"You two are adorable." She subconsciously traced a finger over her naked ring finger. Still not used at it being empty, it wasn't for the past two years. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Sirius in the garden. He was standing next to James who was manning the BBQ, his arm was wrapped around the waist of one of the most beautiful witches she had ever seen. She had the brightest blue eyes, with blond long hair, she was petit and fitted perfectly in Sirius's arms. Not one scar or imperfection to be seen. And she was showing a lot, her skirt was so short, it barely covered her bum.

"Brother." Regulus growled. Sirius jumped a little and his eyes were large when he saw them. But he didn't let go of the blond.

"My little Charmer." James beamed and walked away from the pair quickly. He hugged her tight against him. "Thank Merlin you're here, she's a nightmare." He whispered. She chuckled against his shoulder.

"OH MY GOD! YOU ARE CASSIE SABLE!" The girl squealed, stepping out of Sirius's arms. "I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN!"

"Doubt it." Regulus muttered softly next to her. Her lips curled upwards.

"I LOVE ALL OF YOUR SONGS!" The girl was still screaming, making her and Reg wince. Then she reached for her, and she quickly took a step back. Remus and Regulus were in front of her in a second, even Sirius had stepped closer.

"Don't. Touch. Her." Reg growled.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Her voice finally lowered.

"It's okay. I just – a fan got a little aggressive a few weeks ago." She said rubbing her arm. She looked over the garden and saw that Harry was trying to get Hermione on a broom. She didn't see Sirius look at her, like he wanted to wrap her in his arms and carry her some place safe.

"How old are you?" Regulus asked, not even trying to keep the venom from his voice.

"Twenty-three." She said in happy voice. Regulus scrunched up his nose in disgust and looked pointedly to Sirius.

"Excuse me, I just spotted my two biggest fans. Excluding you, Lils." She winked at the redhead before walking to the two teenagers.

"I just met Cassie Sable." Sirius girlfriend clapped her hands like a seven-year-old. "I thought she would be prettier though. Did you see those scars?" Suddenly, the girl tripped over nothing.

They would all deny they had cast a spell over the girl, but they all did, soundlessly, wandless and in unison. When the blond was trying to straighten out her clothes, they all looked to Izzie, who was happily talking to Harry and Hermione.

The others all tried to keep Izzie as far away from Daisy, that was her name, but the girl kept following her. So, the second James stood up to grab more meat from the BBQ, she took his seat, right across from her.

"Can I ask? Cor. I've read that you two have broken up."

"You shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers." James said frowning at her, he sighed and took her empty seat on Sirius's other side.

"The papers may be wrong most of the time, but for once they are correct."

"What?" Sirius looked at her with large eyes, but she looked at the grass behind them.

"We broke up about a month ago." She looked to Remus and Lily, who looked shocked to be honest. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I thought the papers did the work for me. When you didn't ask, I just thought you thought I didn't want to talk about it."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Remus asked.

"No, I'm okay, thank you." She smiled a little. Her eyes flashed to Sirius for a second. "It just wasn't meant to be."

"He was gorgeous." Daisy sighed, waving a hand over her face.

"You don't know when to shut up, do you." Regulus snapped.

Daisy eyes went wide, and her lip trembled. Izzie rolled her eyes before she said. "Yes, Daisy. He was very handsome." She turned to Lily. "So, how's teaching in college going?"

Right after dinner was over, James dragged Sirius to the library. Two of the walls were filled with books, two floor length windows let in the bright sun.

"Fuck, James. Watch the grip." Sirius muttered, trying to get out of his hold.

"I told you not to bring her! Why did you bring her?"

"I thought she was going to bring her fiancé, alright!" He pulled free from James's strong grasp. "Besides she is my girlfriend."

"Girlfriend?" James laughed mockingly. "You never had a girlfriend since Izzie."

"Well, I do now." He said snippy.

"Is this you trying to get over her, or trying to make her jealous?"

"I want her to be happy."

"Then think about what you are doing. She told you she still loved you, she is single, what are you waiting for?" James was seriously getting annoyed.

"I don't know." He groaned loudly and sat down on the sofa. He let his head drop in his hands. "I can't lose her again."

"Then, please for one time, think about this. Think with your heart. If you keep it up like this, you will lose her all over again."

"I love her, James."

"Of course, you love her! Everyone knows, except for the person who you lied to. And maybe Malibu barbie in there."

Sirius couldn't help but chuckle. He was going to tell her. He first needs to ditch Daisy and then he'll finally tell her the truth. When they came out of the library, his eyes scanned the room for her, but he couldn't spot her.

"She's gone. Barbie was driving her up the wall." Lily grunted. "She left a few minutes ago."

Malibu Barbie turned up the radio with a squeal and James scrunched up his nose next to him. "It's Cassie Sable's new song!"

Sirius didn't know she had a new song. Honestly, he tried to avoid everything that was connected to her. It just hurts too much. But his breath hitched as he heard one single instrument. The ukelele. But once she started singing, his breathing stopped completely because she was singing about him.

I feel like I've been drowning for such a long time;
But I finally broke the surface when your lips touched mine
you were my dream, the man I couldn't see
but now everything is clear; and I feel free

But time isn't on our side
maybe everything between us has died
I wish we were back to being eighteen,
when you were still in love with me

But time isn't on our side
you moved on in that piece of time
I'm not angry, I understand
But please remember I will you love 'till the end of time

Everyone except Barbie was looking at Sirius, his eyes fixed on the radio. He needed to find her. He needed to go to her. He needed her.

"First Sacrifice, that was definitely about her breakup with her fiancé. But this – this sounds like the reason behind it, doesn't it? Who could it be?" Daisy asked looking around the room. "Sirius?"

"I need to go." He said, stepping out of her reach. "I - I'm sorry, this isn't going to work, Barb-Daisy."

"But -" She started but Sirius disappeared with a crack before she could say anything else. James, Remus and Lily were grinning while Harry muttered,

"Finally." The rest started laughing before Lily tried to get Daisy out of the house in a nice and appropriate way.
