Episode 11: Somewhat put together
(Afternoon)
It was the next week and steven was coming over to play video games at Amanda's house. To be quite honest, she was kind of excited to have steven over. I mean it's not like she wasn't happy to invite her other friends over, it's just that having a change of pace is good.
As she finished putting the bowl of soar gummy candy on the coffee table, she heard a door bell.
'Ah, steven and the gems are here'
She went over to open the door and was greeted by steven and the gems. "Hi, steven. Hi gems." She said happily. "Hey amanda, thanks for letting us hang out at your house." "Your welcome." She said, as she closed the door and sat on the couch with the gems and steven. Once amethyst's eyes had seen the bowl of candy, she started to take the whole bowl of candy and dump it in her mouth, including the bowl. But luckily Pearl stopped her. "Amethyst, this bowl is for steven and amanda." Pearl lectured. "You guys don't want any?" she questioned, raising her eyebrows. "Like I said we gems don't need to eat. We rely on our gems, despite what others may think." She said, eyeing amethyst.
"What, it's now my fault food tastes good." Amethyst said. "Wow, that's interesting. Anyway, I have a really good game that I think you might enjoy. It's called Mario Cart 8 Deluxe." "I've never heard of that game before." he said with confusion. "It's Mario, but with racing." "Cool." "Alright, but before we really get into the game we'll go through the tutorial, just to get you familiar with it." "Okay" steven said excitedly.
(1 tutorial later)
"And that's how you play" amanda said. "Wow, that was awesome. Let's play for real this time." Steven said a little determined. "Whatever you say chief."
(Another mini time skip because I'm too lazy)
They got into their third game and amanda let amethyst swap places with her. As she was watching them pick who they wanted to play as, she began to see something out the corner of her eye. Or rather, someone. She did a double take and realized that is was show amanda. She slightly jumped at the sight of her, but quickly regained her composure so no one would notice. But garnet noticed. Putting a hand on the small of amanda's back, she asked, "Amanda, are you alright?" "Yeah, I'm good, I just thought I saw something" she said, while staring into her other half's eyes, but quickly averting her eyes. "Are you sure? We can go somewhere private and talk about it." She gently pushed. "No, no, no. I'm fine, really."
As she went back to looking at the tv, she couldn't help but feel like garnet didn't believe her. But checking her peripheral vision, she saw garnet facing the tv as well, so she must have bought it.
She watched as amethyst and steven were playing the game, while pearl was telling them to go slower because according to her, "Going the speed limit is safer and plus, you won't hit anybody." Amanda could only laugh at the scene that was playing out in front of her. But unfortunately, that didn't last because amanda began to hear these static sounds in her ears, the sounds around her being blocked out. She could also hear the faint sounds of clapping, almost as if it were an audience.
She looked around her to see if anybody heard that sound as well, but all she could she was steven and amethyst playing Mario while pearl and garnet were watching. Suddenly, the room felt and looked like it was spinning, while the clapping only got louder. She covered her ears and closed her eyes in hopes of stopping the noise and to stop the room from spinning. But none of that helped. Not one bit.
Until it all stopped.
She slowly uncovered her ears and opened her eyes. But she quickly covered her eyes again, due to a harsh light shining on her. After a few seconds, she uncovered them. Turning around, she was met with a bunch of people sitting while staring up at her. "Am I in heaven?" she thought out loud. The people began to laugh as if she had told a funny joke in some rom-com from the 90s.
The laughter died down into silence again. Then after a few silent seconds, she began to hear footsteps. Precise but firm, nonetheless. "No, silly. Your not that good for heaven." Show amanda said. Swiftly turning around, she's met with her other half. Wearing a black tailcoat suit with noticeable gold accents, including the pants. Along with stiletto high heel. Amanda had to admit, her other half was fucking stunning.
Bringing her gaze back to her other half's eyes, she stated, "Then I must be in hell." "You're not in either of those. You're in the show!" she said, twirling around. "The show?" amanda said, confused. "The very one. I thought I would show you so you would stop asking so many questions. And excitement might have played into this little tour as well." she said, smiling while twiddling her fingers and gliding over the floor with her foot. getting agitated, amanda asked, "Cut the shit. Why am I here?" Sighing, show amanda snapped her fingers, making two chairs appear. Sitting down, she said "Sit, and I'll explain." Amanda hesitated but eventually sat down, waiting to hear what she had to say. "To put it simply, I'm not happy with your life discissions." She said, looking amanda dead in her eyes. "Meaning?"
Okay look, sure were times when even she wasn't happy with her life choices, but she delt with it on her own. Ever since she started living on her own, she never had anyone be concerned about what she did. Maybe it's because she never told anyone. Maybe. "I'm talking about the incident where you almost killed yourself." Show amanda said. Ah, so that's what she wanted to talk about. "You mean the incident that was caused by you. I have nothing more to say about the matter. And plus, why would you care about what I do. You said it yourself" She spat out aggressively.
Then, it clicked. Gasping, she abruptly stood up, "What I do affects you, doesn't it?!" Her other half only sat there in silence, and that was a good enough answer for amanda. Once show amanda waited for amanda to calm down, she said "Now would be a great time to tell you that what you do doesn't even have the slightest of affect on me." Slowly sitting back down, amanda's face contorted back to the same agitated look. "What?" "Yep. You could kill yourself a thousand times over and I would still be standing. I forgot to tell you that a part of me is real but the other part is not. Oops." Amanda just sat there, half astonishment and half anger. If that's even possible. "Now, back to the conversation at hand. I'm not happy because your only fucking up your life bit by bit." "I'm fine" She said in a tone that sounded as if she was reminded someone of something.
Smack!
Amanda held her hand against her burning cheek as she looked back at show amanda. "Are you out your mind?! What was that for?!" Straightening out her outfit, she sat back down. "I hate those words with every fiber of my being. If Garnet doesn't believe those words, then why the hell would I? Look, Life is very precious, and you only get one, I care because it would be incredibly boring to see you die so quickly. Forget my twisted ways and think about yourself for once. Haven't you realized by now that surrounding yourself with friends and distractions is only worsening the situation? Or are you too dumb to realize that." Amanda couldn't believe the words that were leaving her lips.
(Tv Static)
She was brought back by the sound of her phone ringing. When she took a look around, she realized that the game was still going on and garnet still had her head turned to the tv. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Then she excused herself to go answer the phone. Once she got outside the house, she leaned on her car and answered.
(On the Phone)
Avery: Hi honey, how are you?
Amanda: I'm doing good mom. How about you.
Avery: I'm doing good, I'm just trying to tell you dad here that we don't need a theatre in the house.
Max: Honey, we do need that theatre. How else are we supposed to get the IMAX experience?
Avery: We already have a 60 inch. I think we'll be okay.
Amanda: I don't know mom, I think dad's right. The experience would be greater.
Avery: Oh no, not you amanda.
Max: That's my girl!
Amanda: It would be even better with 3d glasses.
Max: Wow, I didn't even think of that. Thanks sweetie!
Avery: Stop egging him on please.
Amanda: Fine, I'll stop.
Avery: Well, it was nice talking to you honey.
Amanda: It was nice talking to you too. Bye mom and dad.
Avery and Max: Bye!
(Call ended)
She put her phone back in her pocket then looked towards where the sun was shining, and she noticed that it was starting to set.
'beautiful'
She ended the day with hours upon hours of video games and pizza, deciding not to worry about the hard things for once. She was somewhat put together for right now, and she was content with that. For now.
This is a longer chapter, and I must admit that I was quite excited as I started to write more and more. Mainly because garnet and amanda's relationship is starting to bloom ever so slightly. Anyway, I hope you liked it!
