A/N: This chapter contains mentions of potential assault of a minor. I will have a line drawn and another warning in case you prefer to skip it. It is not detailed, and really only goes through the steps of how it's tested via what I researched.
The scene is not "vital" to the story, but it will be LIGHTLY referenced in the next couple chapters.
As a SPOILER, please note that there was NO ASSAULT, but precautions were taken.
Scott crossed his shackled arms, glaring at the women in front of him as he sat on the uncomfortable, rickety bed.
"They're going to find me, you know."
"That's highly unlikely. I made sure to cover my tracks," Diane said, her eyes raised.
"Except you're stupid-" Scott sucked in a gasp at the sting on his cheek. He took several calming breaths and looked at the woman who'd removed him from the Tower. "Like I said. Stupid. Tony is one of the most powerful men on the planet- and that's without adding the Avengers to the equation. And now that you've struck me-"
"Oh, would you shut up?!" Scott looked at the other woman.
"You're not my teacher," he said. "And as my dad's crazy one night stand-"
"I wasn't a one night stand!"
"Until my mom, my dad never slept with the same person twice, so… Yeah. One night stand."
"He never told you then, did he?"
"Here comes the crazy fantasies," Scott said. "Go on. Never told me what?"
"You're not Katherine's son. You're mine." Scott blinked before laughing. Jessica Roberts glared at him.
"S-sorry! You can't actually believe that, can you?" He looked at Diane. "Is that what she told you to get you to help? That- that she was my mother? That rescuing me from the evil Tony Stark and reuniting a family would get my dad to notice you? You're delusional. That doesn't even make any sense. She wants my dad, too, so who'd win?"
"We both win," Diane said. "You see, Scott, I have this… way about me. I can make people see and believe what I want them to, with just a small touch. We agreed that I get your father, and Jess will get you and a way that will forever link her to your father." Scott bit the inside of his cheek.
"Mmhm. So, just to be clear, you're going to touch me and make me believe that Ms. Roberts is my mom, and then you're going to touch my dad to make him think that he was with Ms. Roberts and then left her… for you?"
"That's exactly what he'll believe."
"And… Where does my stepfather fit in with all of this?"
"Obviously it was a publicity stunt after the fiasco with Pepper Potts. Even you had to see how Stark's stock went up after announcing he was with a man."
"And his money?"
"There will be a quiet divorce after the amount of time in the prenup has passed, and then we'll get half his money."
"And by having me, you get the Summers money," Scott realized.
"Ding ding ding! I suppose you are smart," Jessica said. "That's good to know for if I have to ship you off to some boarding school in a different country."
"Can I at least tell my friends goodbye?"
"Like we're dumb enough to put a phone in your hands."
"Can't blame me for trying," Scott said. "I mean, you were dumb enough to kidnap the stepson of an Avenger. Diane, I know you clearly know Falcon since you were dating him, but I guess you missed the fact that Black Widow and Hawkeye treat me like their nephew. Nat calls me Little Stark, for God's sake. Do you really think you can make everyone believe I'm not the son of Katherine Summers? Did you consider her remaining family? Her friends who know of us? My grandparents? You-" Diane glared at him and put her hand on his arm.
"You are the son of Christopher Summers and Jessica Roberts. Your parents are divorced and you live with your mother." She pulled her hand away and gave him a smug look.
"Scott?" Jessica said in a concerned voice. "Are you ok?" Scott blinked and looked at her, smiling.
"You're a fucking crazy psycho bitch who's trying to pretend to be my mother."
"You said that would work!" Jessica screamed at Diane.
"It should have! I've been making Wilson believe we were a couple-"
"That makes sense about why he'd be with you when everyone can tell you eye fuck my dad. Even Amanda calls you a strumpet- which I'm pretty sure is a British term for slut." Diane put her hand around Scott's neck and pushed him against the bed.
"You little-" Scott's eyes turned red and he looked directly at her.
"You didn't think you were the only one with tricks, now, did you?" Diane let him go and took a step back. "What, scared of some competition? Upset that you're not the only mutant in the room?"
"This complicates things," Jessica said, rubbing her temples.
"And those glasses you won't let me have? That's the only thing that can stop my eyes from hitting shit."
"It can't be that bad," Diane said quietly to Jessica.
"Cap has hit Iron Man's armor and it did nothing. I hit it because I was frustrated and he ended up having to pair a new suit to his wristbands with how dented it was. He tells everyone else how the force I put out can put a hole in a mountain. But sure. Not that bad."
"He's exaggerating."
"Want to find out?" Scott grinned. "I missed my session with Cap this morning," he said, cracking his knuckles. "He's the only one who I can hit at full force and not hurt, you know."
"Let me try again," Diane said. She put her hand on his face and squeezed his cheeks. "You are the son of Christopher Summers and Jessica Roberts. Your parents are divorced and you live with your mother." Scott blinked, the red of his eyes leaving.
"Did it work this time?" Jessica asked. Scott turned to her.
"Where are we, Mom?"
"We're visiting your stepmother, Diane," Jessica said, smiling. "Remember?" Scott nodded.
"But where?"
"New Jersey." Scott looked around the room.
"Why are my arms like this?"
"You were having a bad dream," Diane said. "We were worried you were going to hurt yourself."
"Please let me out," Scott asked. "I don't remember the dream."
"I don't know, Scott," Jessica said. "You've had bad reactions before-"
"I need to use the bathroom. Please, Mama?" Jessica looked at Diane and nodded. Diane grabbed a key and unlocked the cuffs around Scott's wrists. He gently rubbed them and stood up.
"The bathroom is this way, honey," Jessica said, pointing the way. Scott nodded.
"I'm sorry. I feel- my head just feels fuzzy. I don't think I slept well."
"You're fine. I'll get you some medicine when you're done." Scott nodded and walked out of the room and into the bathroom. He closed the door and locked it before grasping the sink and taking several breaths. He looked up and took a quick glance around the room, searching for a window.
"Shit." He flushed an empty toilet and turned on the faucet, splashing water onto his face.
"Scott?"
"I'm coming, Mom." He opened the door and smiled at her. "Are you ready?" Jessica gave him a confused look.
"Ready for what?"
"Our walk," Scott said, frowning. "We take a walk every day- at least we try to. Is it raining? That's really the only time we can't make it out."
"I'm sorry," Jessica said, touching her head. "It's been a stressful trip. Your father has been working almost nonstop and we haven't been able to see him yet." Scott rolled his eyes.
"He's always working. But Grandpa keeps promising that he's retiring soon, and once I graduate from the University of Alaska, I'll take over. As long as Dad still agrees with the plan. He hasn't said anything about changing it, has he?"
"He hasn't," Jessica said, handing Scott a jacket. He put it on and zipped it up. "Just once around the block, like we do back home?"
"Once around the block," Jessica agreed. She gave Diane a triumphant look and led Scott to the door. He opened it, holding it for her to walk through. Jessica linked her arm through his and sighed contentedly.
"You ok, Mom?"
"Just fine. I'm just thinking of how it feels like just yesterday you were born, and now you're talking about college."
"I still have a few years," Scott said, his eyes darting around. "And it's just a degree to learn how to run a business. It's not a big deal."
"You'll be the first in the family with a college degree," Jessica argued. "It's a very big deal." Scott gave a shy shrug.
"It just feels like an expensive piece of paper. If Grandpa wasn't footing the bill, I doubt I'd even go. It's a family business, after all." Scott saw a mother walking with a toddler and an infant in the stroller. He glanced behind him to see how far from the house he was before pulling his arm out, grabbing Jessica, and pinning her to the asphalt.
"Scott!" The woman with the children stared in shock at him.
"Let her go!" she finally cried. "I'm calling the police!"
"Please do!" he called back. "And tell them how you found Tony Stark's kidnapped stepson!"
"WHAT?" Jessica screamed. Scott pushed his knee harder into her back.
"It didn't work the first time and it sure as hell didn't work the second time. You are not Katherine Summers. You are nothing but a psychotic bitch who is finally going to jail."
"-right, I said Tony Stark's stepson." The woman pulled her phone from her mouth. "What's your name?"
"Scott Summers," he said. "If they need proof, let me know."
"It's Scott Summers," the woman said. "No- He said he had been kidnapped. I'll ask-"
"Jessica Roberts and Diane Jeffords," Scott said without prompting. "Jeffords drugged me and took me from my home in Manhattan." The woman repeated the information.
"Are you injured?"
"My wrists are cut up and Jeffords almost strangled me, but otherwise I'm physically fine."
"Police are on their way," she finally said, pulling her phone down.
"Are they calling my parents?"
"I don't know." Scott hesitated.
"Can I call them on your phone?" he asked. "My dad- My mom just died last year and he needs to hear from me that I'm ok. I'm worried about him. His family has a history of heart problems, and- and so does my stepdad." The woman looked at her phone and then at Scott.
"How about I call them for you and put it on speakerphone? That way she doesn't wrangle out of your hold."
"I appreciate that, ma'am," Scott said. He gave her Tony's number, knowing he was never far from his phone.
"This is a private line," Tony snapped over the phone. "Lose this number."
"That's kind of hard to do after you practically beat the number into my head."
"Scott? Please tell me that's really you, Slim."
"It's me, Pop."
"Where the hell are you? Do you realize the stress you have put us through? I called in everyone to look for you!"
"I'm sorry. If it helps, it wasn't intentional. Diane drugged me and kidnapped me. She took me to Jersey, Pop. So hey, that makes it a federal thing right? Crossing state lines?"
"Does it matter?" Tony asked. "Federal or not, she's going to prison for a very long time."
"Include Jessica Roberts in that plan. I currently have her pinned to the ground. Say hi, Ms. Roberts."
"You're shitting me. Bear! Write down the rest of your crazy exes so I can keep an eye on them, would you? Damn."
"There are kids in front of me, Pop. Language."
"You've been spending too much time with Rogers," Tony laughed. "You locked in on him? Good. I'll be there in just a few minutes, Scott-"
"Dad?"
"Dad is coming with Happy behind me." Scott breathed a sigh of relief.
"Please hurry," Scott said. "And tell Dad to let MJ know I'm ok?"
"We'll send out the message that you're safe. She's helping Nova right now-"
"He was helping-?"
"He was. I'm two minutes out."
"Ok. Cops are on their way, too." Scott looked up and grinned at the red and gold suit flying towards him. "I see you." Tony landed with a loud thud and exited his armor.
"Fri, hang up."
"Hi," Scott said. "You didn't happen to bring my shades, did you? The sun's killing me."
"I didn't. Fri, tell Bear to remember Scott's glasses."
"I didn't do anything," Jessica said from under Scott's knee. "She came to me and forced me to help. I didn't want to. I'd moved to New York to get away from Chris and that life-"
"You'll have to excuse me for not quite believing you," Tony said, glaring at her. "Especially since my son literally has you red handed!" He turned and looked at the woman and her children.
"You're really-"
"I get that a lot. And you? You have an Avenger indebted to you. We had exhausted everything searching for him these last two days-"
"Two days?!" Scott said.
"Two days," Tony confirmed. "It's Saturday, Scott. No one had heard from you since Thursday. Dad has Claire practically attached to him with how high his blood pressure's been. We… might have hacked city cameras. I didn't even think of Jersey."
"But the way you answered the phone-"
"It was a shock that you called, Slim." Scott rolled his shoulders at the sound of sirens approaching. Doors slammed and police officers came running to him.
"We've got her, son," one of the officers said. Scott nodded and fell back, his legs not wanting to work with the adrenaline rush leaving him.
"Pop?"
"I'm here," Tony said, helping Scott to his feet. "I've got you."
"Diane is a mutant," Scott told him quietly. "We need to warn the police to not touch her hands. If she touches them and says something, they'll believe it."
"Did she try that with you?" Scott nodded. "It didn't work?"
"No. I'll explain what happened in a minute. Warn them now before it's too late." Tony nodded and helped Scott sit before hurrying off to the cops. More doors slammed shut and Scott closed his eyes, putting his fists over them to stop the burn.
"Try these." Scott looked up and saw Chris, holding out the ruby quartz glasses. Scott took them and slid them on. Chris held his hand out and Scott grabbed it, allowing Chris to pull him back up. Chris wrapped his arms around Scott, one across his back and the other holding the back of Scott's head.
"I thought-" Scott finally allowed himself to break down in his father's arms.
"Shh," Chris soothed. "I'm here now, Scotty. They can't hurt you anymore." Scott nodded into Chris' chest.
"Alright. They've been warned," Tony said, coming over to Scott and Chris. "A cop will be here in a moment to hear everything that happened. Don't leave out what she tried to do, ok?" Scott nodded again.
"He's not in any condition to-"
"The sooner we do it, the sooner we can go home, Bear. And I don't know about you, but I'm sick of taking his dog out." Scott laughed and wiped at his face as he looked at Tony.
"You know you're her favorite when I'm not there."
"I'm everybody's favorite," Tony said. "Of course a dog loves me, too."
"Pop?"
"Yeah, Voldy?"
"I think Xavier needs to see if Ms. Roberts is telling the truth. Diane can make anyone believe anything if she's touching them. That's how she kept Uncle Sammy so ignorant of everything going on."
"I'll say something to him," Tony promised. "But if she was acting on her own free will-"
"Then I never want her to see freedom again," Scott said, his eyes welling up. "She-" His breath hitched and he turned his face into Chris again.
"We'll let the state handle the kidnapping," Tony said. "And I'll get Jen on the emotional distress for all of us- even the damn dog. We'll do whatever it takes to get them behind bars for the whole sentence and without any chance of parole." Scott nodded.
"Mr. Stark," a detective said. "We'd like to interview your stepson. Is he ready?"
"Yes sir," Scott said. He sniffed and wiped his eyes as he turned. "She was a mutant."
"I know."
"What are your views on it?" The detective clenched his jaw.
"Mutants are people and deserve to be treated like everyone else. If you have an issue with my beliefs, I'll find another-"
"Do you have to write down everything?" Scott asked quietly. The detective gave him a shrewd look.
"It depends on if it's relevant to what happened." Tony put a hand on Scott's shoulder while Chris kept one on his back.
"Do you think we can talk in my parents' car? I'd rather not be overheard."
"Is there room?"
"There's room," Tony confirmed. He looked up at Chris. "I'll stay out here and make sure it gets taken care of. You stay with Scott." Chris nodded and pulled Scott towards the car, motioning for the detective to follow them. He opened the door and Scott slid in first.
"You can sit back here with him," Chris said. "I'll be in the front seat."
"Please know that if any of you try to hide something-"
"Sir, we're not trying to hide anything from you. But there are people who are starting to gather, and this information is sensitive." The detective held Chris' gaze for several seconds before giving him a nod and sliding in beside Scott. Chris got in the front seat next to Happy and turned.
"I'm Detective Holden," he started, getting out a notepad and pen. "Are you alright if I call you Scott, or would you prefer-?"
"Scott's fine," Scott said quickly.
"Scott," Detective Holden said. "I want you to start at the beginning of this ordeal. How were these women able to take you without anyone knowing?" Scott blew out a breath.
"Just over a month ago, we were at that mall- the one with the aquarium and the theme park-"
"I'm familiar," Holden said.
"Well, that's where we met Diane. My dads, my two uncles, and all five of-"
"Your uncles?"
"Sam Wilson, my godfather, and James Rhodes, my- Tony's brother in all but blood."
"Ok," Holden said, writing that down. "Continue."
"Three of my siblings were getting a massive fish tank installed that day, and my youngest brother wanted to go through the aquarium part of the mall. We weren't far into it when Diane's friends pushed her into my dad." Holden nodded and looked at Chris.
"Why?"
"In short, she thought I was attractive and her friends were helping her introduce herself to me. I explained that I was married and then Sammy- Sam Wilson came over. The two hit it off and started seeing each other."
"I see."
"Sam is my oldest friend," Chris explained. "So when he said she was safe to be around the kids, I trusted him. He's their godfather and has been present for all four births. He'd never intentionally hurt them."
"Ok." Holden looked at Scott. "So that's how you met Diane. How about the other woman? Jessica-?"
"Roberts," Chris said, rubbing his eyes.
"She used to be my English teacher at Midtown School of Science and Technology in New York," Scott told him. "But she just… She was cruel to me for what seemed like no reason."
"It's because of me," Chris said, shaking his head. "Jess and I went to school together and I slept with her when we were sixteen. She seemed to think that meant we were destined to be together, whereas all I was searching for was-" Chris cleared his throat. "I'm sure you can fill in the blanks. After that, she became a bit of a stalker. When I married my wife, she became practically unhinged."
"Can you back this up with proof, or was it just feelings?"
"No, I have proof. I should have it at the Avengers Compound somewhere. I had a restraining order filed after she tried to kill my wife."
"She what?" Scott said.
"Obviously she didn't," Chris told Scott. "You weren't even born, yet."
"Would you let me get a copy of that?" Holden asked.
"Of course. I also have the notes she sent me-"
"Why do you still have them?"
"I wanted to throw them out," Chris told the detective. "But my wife always had me keep them for when the restraining order ran out so that we could get another if she tried to hurt the kids. There's- it's a lot to get into right now. I'd be happy to sit with you at a later time to go over everything she put me through."
"Alright. Scott, can you walk me through Thursday and through today?"
"Yes sir. I was-" Scott shot Chris a quick look.
"I already know." Scott nodded and looked back at Holden.
"I was making out with my girlfriend in the Tower's training room a little after dinner. She left for her house and my stepfather's AI informed him about… So he had the AI take me to his lab instead of the apartment like I'd tried going to. We talked for a bit and then I was released and I went to the apartment."
"So both of your parents were-?"
"No sir. My stepfather was in Paris at the time. We spoke over a video call. He just had it in the lab because of the nature of the talk." At Holden's confused look, Scott blushed. "He's easier to talk with about… sex."
"Ah."
"So I went to the apartment and started looking for my dog. Cap had- Captain Rogers, I mean. He'd taken her out for me and was playing with her. Then he asked to watch a movie from a list my Uncle Sammy was recommending and we went back to the apartment to get the movie. That was when Diane came in and said she was there waiting for Uncle Sammy. Cap invited her to watch it with us and she agreed and said she'd make the popcorn and Cap poured us drinks. I remember the popcorn tasted weird, and when I looked at Cap, he was falling asleep. And then I got dizzy and woke up with Diane and Ms. Roberts, and I was chained to a bed."
"Ok. Tell me about how you got away." Scott blew out a breath.
"This is where it gets… Ok. Ms. Roberts tried telling me that I was actually her son, which was just a load of bullsh-" Scott gave him a quick grin. "And that's when Diane told me she had an ability, and those were her words. The ability was that if she was touching someone and said something, she could make that person believe what she was telling them. She and Ms. Roberts said they'd made a deal that Diane would get to be with Dad and Ms. Roberts would be my mother and have a forever link to Dad."
"Mmhm," Holden said, looking slightly amused.
"I tried to understand how they thought they'd do this when there were a bunch of people who knew my mom and therefore at least of us. That pissed Diane off and she grabbed my arm and told me I was the son of Christopher Summers and Jessica Roberts, and I lived with my mother."
"But it didn't work?"
"No sir," Scott said, taking a breath. "I know a telepath who can't even read my mind, and he's an extremely powerful mutant. I figured I'd be safe from her."
"What made her stop?"
"I said it didn't work and she put her hand around my throat and pushed me on the bed. And that's when I…" Scott swallowed. "My eyes."
"Your eyes?"
"It's easier if I show you," Scott said. "I'm not going to hurt you." Scott lifted his glasses, closed his eyes, and opened them again, showing the red layer. It quickly disappeared and he put his glasses back down.
"You're a mutant," Holden said, understanding.
"Yes sir."
"So you really weren't- You needed to make sure you were going to be safe."
"Yes sir," Scott said again, uncomfortably rubbing his arm.
"Did you use your gift?"
"No sir, not- I'm still learning how to use them and I need my glasses because when I get stressed, I can't always control it. Diane left my glasses at the apartment. But my eyes went red and she backed away. I might have taunted her a bit to try to escape, but then she grabbed me again and tried to use her powers on me a second time. That time I pretended to play along."
"Smart."
"And she was too arrogant in her abilities to even consider that I was faking. I tried looking in the bathroom for a window, and after not seeing one, I asked Ms. Roberts if she was ready for our walk because we take one every day. We went out and I looked around until I saw someone else walking before pinning her like Ms. Romanoff taught me."
"And that's all you remember?"
"Yes sir. I didn't think… I guess I thought maybe it was Friday, but I didn't think it was Saturday."
"So that's a whole day unaccounted for."
"Yes sir."
"Did they tell you why they wanted all of this? Other than a disturbing fascination with your father."
"Money. Diane wanted to wait for Dad and Pop- my stepdad, I mean. But for them to wait for the time it took for the prenup to pass so Dad would be entitled to Pop's money, and then Dad would divorce Pop and Diane would get the money. And then Ms. Roberts would have me for the Summers money with my grandfather's business that is just a few years away from being passed to my dad, and then will eventually pass to me." Scott looked at Chris. "Right?"
"If that's what you want, then, yes," Chris confirmed. "Otherwise, I'll wait to see what Alex wants to do, and then Gabe, and then Annie." He looked at Detective Holden. "And if what my son says is true, which I'm sure it is… My husband declined a prenup, as did I. I didn't marry him for his money and unless it's for family trips or something for our children, I honestly forget he's as wealthy as he is."
"You… forget he's a billionaire?" Chris shrugged.
"It's a full time job to remember he's a genius and an Avenger. The money is just not important enough to consider." Holden nodded and clicked his pen, turning to Scott.
"I won't add the information about you because I know how… I know how it can be."
"Thank you," Scott said, relieved. "I'm not ashamed to be a mutant, but I know others aren't as accepting." Holden tapped his pen on his notepad.
"Your safety is important to me as an officer sworn to uphold the law. It's not vital to the investigation."
"We appreciate it," Chris said.
"Is there any other information you can think of?" Holden asked the father and son.
"Diane said that her power was how she was keeping Uncle Sammy in a relationship with her."
"Good, because she's a wack job," Chris said. "Bitch watched my husband and I engaged in a- Scott cover your ears." Scott put his hands over his ears, blushing. "Tony and I were enjoying one another's company after dismissing her and Sam, and then we saw she'd never left. It makes sense now that she likely used her powers to send Sam away because I know he wouldn't have stood for it."
"Would you like to press charges?"
"Would it do anything?"
"She was technically trespassing at that point if you told her to leave. It might not be much, but it certainly couldn't hurt."
"Then yes."
"Got it," Holden said, writing down the request. He looked at Scott and then back to Chris. "I'd like to speak with you and your husband privately, if you don't mind."
"Of course not," Chris said with a confused frown. Holden opened his door and gestured for Chris to follow him out.
"Should I wait here?" Scott asked.
"Yes," Chris said. "Just wait for me or Pop to call you out, or we'll join you."
"He'll be safe," Happy promised. Chris nodded and got out of the car. He closed the door and walked to Detective Holden.
"Tony," Chris called. "Come here for a second." Tony stepped away from the uniformed officer and went to Chris.
"Is everything ok?"
WARNING! Please do not read if this makes you uncomfortable. There is nothing graphic, but I understand if you just skip to the next chapter at this point.
"This is Detective Holden. He wanted to talk to us privately."
"Ok. About what?"
"There's an entire day that is unaccounted for," Holden said. "I need for your son to have his blood or urine tested to see what drug, if any, was used." Chris grabbed Tony's hand.
"What are you saying?" Chris asked in a tight voice.
"It could have been anything, Bear," Tony said quietly. "A simple cough medicine could have knocked him out. Don't let your mind jump straight to that." Chris looked at Tony.
"They were after the money. Both sides. If they-" Chris looked at Detective Holden. "Could they be tested as well? For fluids?"
"No. But on the slim chance they both or one of them did… I need the clothes he's wearing, and for him to go through a forensic examination." Chris' grip tightened.
"Look at me," Tony ordered. Chris turned and met his eyes. "There is no guarantee. They could have just been keeping him sedated until they were ready for him to wake up. You can't break down on me with the 'what if's,' Chris. Either way, he needs us. In private we can do whatever you need, but with him watching-"
"I've got it," Chris said. "And at this moment, all I feel is rage that this is even having to be considered."
"I'd like for Scott to go to the hospital and-"
"We have a private nurse-"
"Is your nurse trained in cases of this nature?"
"I don't know," Tony admitted. "We never thought… Friday, call Claire."
"What does an exam like this entail?" Chris asked, wiping his face.
"His clothes will be collected in brown bags and he'll be swabbed to test for fluids. And until results come in, he'll be on medications to treat or prevent STDs."
"What is- Do you think they could have-?" Chris closed his eyes, unable to complete his question.
"I don't know. Obviously I'd like to believe they wouldn't, but I've been at this long enough to know that anything is possible. It could very well be like what your husband said and they just kept him sedated. This is simply jumping to the worst case scenario to rule it out."
"How am I supposed to ask this of him? He wasn't even ready to take that step with his girlfriend."
"We can tell him it's simply routine in kidnapping cases of minors."
"Claire is qualified for cases like this," Tony said, returning to the conversation. "She has kits at the Tower. They were for the clinic, but she just got them delivered and hadn't had time to drop them off when this happened."
"Do we bring her to a hospital, or is Scott ok to go home?" Chris asked.
"This is going to be hard enough on him," Detective Holden said. "Let him be somewhere where he's comfortable."
