Here's more of this crossover! I love thinking about this a lot lately, so I won't talk too much and let you guys read! :)

God Bless and Good Day!

~The Lupine Sojourner

I lay in my bed, tossing and turning, but unable to fall asleep.

So I get up and sneak out of my room to see that the others had the same issue.

We all hear Master Splinter making weird noises in the living room, so we move quietly in that direction.

"Whoa…when did Dad get magic powers?" Mikey murmurs, eyes wide as we watch water move up the wall, glowing bright in the dark room.

"I don't know…maybe we should go back to bed…" Donnie replies, eyes as wide as Mikey's, but his feet, like all of ours, make their way toward Dad, drawn in like we were hypnotized.

"Guys, we shouldn't mess with that." I mumble, but even I can't help moving toward Dad anyway.

Donnie reaches a tentative hand out to grab Dad's robe, giving it a light tug. "Dad, what's going on?" He asks, a little bit of fear in his voice, eyes locked on the glowing water.

Dad stumbles in the chant, his eyes opening like some spell was broken.

I look at the wall to see a large glowing arch like a doorway on the wall.

Somehow, I feel like I should go through it, but a part of me protests when the kids move toward it.

"Stop!" Dad calls as Mikey and Donnie touch the water thing with their fingers.

Before I know it, Lupa is tugging Dad along and I find myself running forward as well, part of me wondering what the strange arch on the wall is and part of me wanting to get my siblings away from it.

I'm bumped from behind by Lupa and Dad and we all tumble through a tingly doorway to find myself having to run helter-skelter down a wooded hill in the dark, my eyes adjusting quickly as I get my feet under me.

When I'm able to stop, Lupa's cry of worry has me whirling around.

I look up the hill to see Dad lying on the ground, Lupa still holding his hand.

I run back up alongside my siblings.

"What happened?" Donnie asks before I can.

"I don't know! I think he hit his head!" Lupa all but sobs.

I look him over and find a bruise already forming on his forehead that would grow into a nasty bump, but there was no blood, which is a good sign…I think.

"It's ok, Lupa. It's ok." I reassure her as she begins to rock back and forth. Donnie also comes over, and nods his agreement. "He's ok, but we should get him someplace safe. We also need to find somewhere safe for tonight. Who knows what kind of wildlife is out here." I instruct, taking charge of the situation before it devolves into panic. "Leo and Raph, climb a tall tree and see if there's somewhere we can go for tonight, ok?"

They do, Raph a little more reluctantly. "You sure Master Splinter's alright?" He asks.

"He'll be ok. It's just a bump."

Raph and Leo come down a few moments later as Mikey hugs Lupa and gets her to stand up, murmuring in her ear.

"There's some kind of walled area with a big building over there." Leo reports, gesturing with his hand.

"Yeah, got no clue what it is, though. There's a road not far away, leads almost to the front door."

"Raph, that's a gate." Leo retorts.

"Whatever! Let's just get him over there." Raph grumbles in reply.

"Hang on!" Donnie protests, his hands fiddling nervously. "They might not be friendly to…us."

I sigh. "I know, Don, but while Dad should be fine, he needs someone who knows medical stuff to look him over just in case."

"But they might not be friendly! They live inside walls!" Trust Donnie to overthink things… "It could be a fortress of bad guys!"

"I know, but…" I pinch the bridge of my nose, my ears flattening in frustration. "Leo, did it look menacing? The walled building?"

"No, it's just…there." Leo shrugs. "It seems like some kind of church, really."

"Alright. Let's go." I put Dad on my back, his head lolling over my shoulder as I stand. "Lupa, you and I are the best at seeing in the dark, so we're going to lead, ok?" I turn to Leo and Raph. "Which way to the road you saw?"

They point and we're off.

"What if Donnie's right? I don't wanna be put in a dungeon!" Mikey whines worriedly, jogging up to me.

"They're not going to put us in the dungeon." I reply firmly.

"How do you know?" Mikey presses.

"I just do. Call it a gut feeling." I had felt better immediately when I heard there was a place we could go, so I pick up the pace a little. "C'mon."

Mikey is side-hugging Lupa, but soon she's ok and they walk holding hands instead.

Within thirty minutes, we reach the road and see the walled area around a bend, and man is it impressive! The walls are high and strong, but it doesn't intimidate me. Instead, it makes me feel safe, like it's where I'm supposed to be.

Donnie still seems uneasy, so I smile at him. "Hey, D?"

"Yeah?"

"You know if I felt like this was a bad idea at all, I'd find somewhere else, right?"

"I know."

"Can you trust that I'm trying to protect you all?" I ask.

"I guess. I'm just nervous."

"And that's ok." I assure him. "Frankly, I'm not sure why I'm not nervous, but I truly think this place will be safe."

"If you say so…"

Lupa smiles at me. "I trust you, Ane."

"Thanks, Lu." I reply, smiling back at her.

Soon, we reach the point where we'd be visible to anyone on the walls and I swear I see movement, but I don't have the energy to mention it.

Master Splinter is heavier than I thought…

Besides, nothing is shot at us, so I take it as a good sign.

By the time we get close enough to conceivably talk to someone on the walls, I realize just how high they are. They're thicker than I would've guessed, too!

"Hello down there!" A voice calls down, halting my train of thought.

"Hello!" I call back, my siblings letting me do the talking, apparently, gathering behind me.

"What brings you to Redwall?" The voice asks. "Are you in need of shelter or simply passing by?"

"My dad hit his head! I was hoping we could spend the night here to take care of him somewhere safer than the woods."

"...Alright. Wait there!"

It takes a few minutes, but finally the gate opens and out comes…

A mutant?! He's a mouse, I think, with a green robe that almost reminds me of Dad's, belted with a cream-white cord.

He's also holding a lantern, so I know he sees us for what we are.

His eyes go wide and he takes a reflective step back, and I notice he's wearing sandals. "Well, er, this is…Brother Sedge, what do you think?" He murmurs to a second mouse, this one dressed the same as the first.

He openly gasps. "We'll have to get Abbot Mordalfus. Quite peculiar…oh dear."

"Come in, please." The first mouse, despite clearly being uneasy for some reason, gestures for us to follow him.

My siblings look at each other as we're led through the gates into a tunnel-like arch in the wall. What was so odd about us if they're mutants as well?

Regardless, we're told to wait with the first mouse as Brother Sedge leaves to get Abbot Mordalfus.

What's an Abbot, anyway? It's clearly a title…

I then realize this is likely something like a monastery Master Splinter told us about! The Abbot must be the leader!

"You said your dad hit his head?" The mouse asks curiously, looking at Master Splinter, interrupting my thoughts.

"Yes. On a tree branch." I explain shortly.

"Forgive me, but…what manner of creature are they?" The mouse murmurs quietly to me as I lay Dad down, gesturing to my brothers.

I frown. "Turtles."

"What in the name of seasons are turtles?" He replies, obviously before he can restrain himself and I frown deeper.

"They're reptiles."

The mouse nods, still looking at my brothers oddly. "And what're those things on their chests? Armor?"

Donnie steps forward. "In a way, I guess. It's a thick plating made of keratin, like fingernails and hair!" He smiles, eager to share knowledge, as always.

"I see. Fascinating…" The mouse tilts his head, blinks, then turns to me and Dad again. "Now, I can see your, er, father, is a rat, and you and your sister are foxes-"

"Wolves." Lupa corrects automatically.

The mouse frowns. "What're wolves?"

"You're kidding, right?" Lupa asks.

"They're dogs, man, not foxes!" Mikey adds.

"Stop!" I snap, then turn to the mouse. "Sorry about them. Foxes and wolves are similar, yes, but they are different breeds." I explain more patiently.

"Most peculiar…" The mouse murmurs, and as I'm about to reply I hear a few people approaching and notice Brother Sedge coming back, this time with an older mouse wearing a plain long shirt, yawning as he follows Brother Sedge. Is this the Abbot Mordalfus Brother Sedge mentioned before?

I bow at the waist, gesturing for the others to copy me. "I am sorry to intrude, sir." I begin politely. "My family and I were, um, passing through and, well, Dad hit his head and then we saw this…place." I think this place has a name, but I can't remember it at the moment. One of the mice said the name when they called down from the top of the wall, I think…

Abbot Mordalfus bows his head in return. "My dear, all who need aid and shelter are welcome at Redwall Abbey. I must say, however, this is a rather unusual gathering." He confesses, smiling non-judgmentally.

I smile back, taking his words with a slight grain of salt. "I know, sir, but we are a family, and I can promise you we mean no harm to anyone."

"We'd be grateful for some medical assistance for our father and perhaps some spare blankets for the night." Leo adds.

"Oh, we have plenty of beds in the dormitories, children, rest assured. Or there are beds in the infirmary if you wish to stay with your father." Abbot Mordalfus replies. "I'll wake Sister May, and we will see to your father."

Brother Sedge and the other mouse gently pick up Master Splinter's slightly stirring body as Abbot Mordalfus leads the way.

No one talks, all of us slightly uneasy in this unusual situation.

"Is, um," I stammer, unsure how to ask my question without offending these good mutants as we ascend a staircase. "I don't want to be rude, but is this some kind of big church?" I ask.

"This is an abbey, child." It's clear we should know what that means.

"Like a monastery?" I press.

"In a way, I suppose." Abbot Mordalfus replies with a patient voice, opening a door for us. "Now, please settle him there, if you would, and I'll get Sister May."

He moves to a small doorway in a corner as the mice lay Master Splinter gently on the bed the Abbot indicated.

I move back and gesture for my siblings to back up with me.

"We don't need to crowd around." I whisper. Everyone nods, glancing between Dad and the mice, who were murmuring together or filling Sister May in quietly in the doorway.

Where had that weird glowing arch taken us? Is this a safe place? I know it feels safe, but you never really know…

"Well then, let's have a look." Sister May says, yawning a little and rubbing her eyes as she walks over. She stops short, eyes going wider as she takes us in. "Oh, seasons above." She tries her best to keep herself collected as she moves around us to examine Master Splinter, who was moaning slightly.

He'd wake up soon.

In fact, as Sister May gently probes the large bruise, Dad's eyes snap open as he gasps in pain. Instantly, I move close to him.

"It's ok, Dad." I soothe, stalling his rising hand with a little effort. "Don't worry. This is Sister May. She just wants to take a look at where you hit your head, ok?"

Master Splinter sits up, eyeing the room and looking relieved when all of us kids are accounted for.

"I am sorry, miss." He says groggily, his hand gingerly touching the bruised lump on his head.

She smiles nervously, her hand still on her chest, clearly a bit startled. "That's alright." She murmurs.

"I'm sorry, Dad!" Lupa blurts, coming over to hug him. "I didn't see the branch!"

"It is alright, Musume." Dad rubs her back calmly while Sister May fetches what looks like a jar of some kind of medicine and some bandages.

She then waits respectfully as the others come forward as if a dam had burst with Lupa hugging Master Splinter.

"You alright, Master Splinter?"

"I don't think you've had a concussion, so that's good!"

"That lump looks like an egg, Master Splinter!"

Everyone had something to say, so to stall them, I clear my throat. "We're all happy to see you're ok, Dad." I add, smiling. "Now, can you guys move back a bit so Sister May can finish?"

They do, looking a little sheepish and offering a few muttered apologies. Lupa reluctantly gets off the bed and side-hugs me for further comfort.

"That's alright, dears." She says as she applies a lotion or poultice to the injured area and then wraps it securely with the bandage. "That bandage is just to stop the poultice being rubbed off while you sleep, sir." She explains. "You should feel better tomorrow, though I will say you might have a headache."

"Thank you for your hospitality." Dad says, trying his best not to let his confusion and unease show. "I hope my children did not cause trouble."

"Not at all, sir." The mice are quick to reassure him. "They just wanted to get you checked over."

Dad nods. "I am sorry to ask any more of you, but may we sleep here tonight? I will decide what to do in the morning."

"Of course. In fact, feel free to stay as long as you wish. We offer safety and refuge for any who need it." The Abbot says, smiling as he grabs the lantern. "Now, please, take your rest and we will see you in the morning."

"Thank you, sir." I reply gratefully, relieved we had not only gotten Master Splinter taken care of, but we also had a safe place to spend the night.

We all nod and bow a little as they leave or go back to the small bedroom in the corner.

"Asami, can you explain what happened?" Dad asks softly when Sister May had closed her door.

"Yessir. When you were knocked out, I asked Raph and Leo to climb a tree so we could find somewhere to stay tonight since I figured the forest wasn't a good option. They saw this place, so we came here, hoping we could get you looked at."

"I see. What is this place?"

"They call it an abbey, which I think is kinda like a monastery."

"I can't believe there are still real abbeys around! With an Abbot, too!" Donnie blurts, smiling. "It's so cool! I wonder how there are so many mutants, though…"

Dad chuckles. "Yes, my son. We will have to get more information in the morning. For now, let us sleep."

We all agree and settle in nearby beds, wishing Master Splinter a good night.

=#=#=#=#=

Master Splinter woke us up early, as usual, and led us quietly out to the large grassy area outside the abbey building. The walls surrounding us felt similar enough to the sewer tunnels we lived in that we don't feel totally exposed.

We go through basic katas to warm up and shake off last night's adventures, the motions soothing and routine.

This continues as the sun begins warming the air and drying the dew on our feet as we move fluidly through the more advanced katas.

We don't have our weapons, but that was fine. We shouldn't need them. This place was peaceful, and the creatures here posed no threat whatsoever.

As we finish our morning training, we hear rather than see a few creatures gathered in the abbey doorway behind us.

Evidently, word of our arrival had spread and now curiosity was overcoming any trepidation anyone felt at our appearance.

Even now, murmurs were starting among the gathering crowd.

"Good morning." I call politely and a few of them greet me in return.

"That was quite the technique, sir." A mouse, this one clearly different from the rest, judging by his confident body language and a black leather belt instead of a cord around his waist, muses as he walks toward Dad.

"It is the ancient art of the kage, shadow warriors." Dad explains simply.

"I see." The mouse then extends a hand. "Forgive my manners. My name is Matthias, Warrior of Redwall." He shakes Dad's hand.

"I am Hamato Splinter. These are Asami, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Lupa, my children."

We bow respectfully as our names are called.

"Pleasure to meet you all!" Matthias replies, smiling. "Welcome to Redwall abbey."

"Thank you, Matthias. You have been most gracious."

From the creatures gathered comes Abbot Mordalfus, who bows a little when Dad sees him. "Good morning." He greets warmly. "I trust you slept well?"

"We did, sir." Dad replies, bowing his head in return.

"Splendid! Now, breakfast is being set out as we speak. Afterwards, I would love to show you our abbey, if you'd like."

"That would be appreciated." Dad bows his head then looks a little sheepish. "I realize I did not introduce myself last night."

"I understand. I heard your introductions to Matthias, so I will introduce myself as Abbot Mordalfus. Now, Cavern Hole is right this way, if you will follow me."

We do, filing into the abbey building and then stopping short when we see the multicolored lights on the floor.

"Whoa!" We all exclaim, awestruck, then we follow the light to the jaw-dropping colored windows facing the morning sun.

Stained glass windows! I can't believe I get to see some!

They're beautiful!

"I've never seen stained glass windows in person before.." Donnie murmurs.

"Hey, look, I'm Raph!" Mikey giggles as he strikes up a fierce pose, covered in red light from the window. "Be quiet, Mikey! Grrr!" He does a pretend punch to a punching bag and we all chuckle.

"I'm Leo!" Lupa pretends to swing katanas and laughs as she looks herself over, the blue light making her look comical.

"We do have breakfast waiting for us, guys." I point out, chuckling. "C'mon!"

"Coming, Mikey!" Lupa giggles, and I notice I'm standing in a spot of orange light. I nod toward the waiting Abbot and Dad.

"Let's go! I'm hungry."

"They're quite a lively bunch, aren't they?" Abbot Mordalfus muses kindly as we walk over.

"They are only 12, Abbot." Master Splinter replies, equally as kind. "Asami is the eldest at 17."

The Abbot nods. "I see. Well, growing children need plenty of food. Come along!"

I corral my siblings in front of me as we go down some stairs into a fairly large area with tables of food and several creatures already seated and eating.

They are all some kind of animal, a lot of mice, some moles, a hedgehog or two, some otters, and even a large badger! And a rabbit (or hare. It's hard to tell), all eating casually together, heedless of us as we start getting food.

There's a lot to choose from! Oatmeal, different pastries, milk, teas, breads and cheeses, you name it! I lick my lips and grab a bowl and ladle it full of oatmeal, adding honey and some berries to it before grabbing a plate and balancing the bowl on it as I grab some cheese and bread before following Dad as he grabs oatmeal, as well, and follows the Abbot.

We all follow the adults like ducklings, unsure where to go and feeling a bit exposed.

So we settle around Dad and feel a bit better as we eat heartily.

Soon, I went back for another bowl of oatmeal and a pastry that smelled incredible, grabbing a glass of milk on my way back.

It didn't taste like normal milk, but that's alright. I hadn't had oatmeal in a while, so who cares!

Before I know it, I've had a few more pastries and a glass of cooled mint tea.

We get a few curious glances and a few double takes, but no one bothers us as we eat.

I overhear Dad talking to the Abbot.

"If you don't mind my asking, Splinter, how did you come to Mossflower?"

Dad takes a moment to answer. "We have been looking for somewhere to settle down. My children got excited and ran ahead and as I pursued them, I was injured on a tree branch."

"I see. And so your children brought you the rest of the way here?"

"Yes." It wasn't completely a lie. Dad and I had been considering looking somewhere else to live, but we had never actually gone looking.

I'm not sure why he doesn't want to tell Abbot Mordalfus the truth about the portal, but I suppose that will come in time.

"Well, if you wish, you are welcome to settle here at Redwall."

I smile. That sounds wonderful! "That is most gracious, sir." Dad bows his head respectfully. "I will keep that in mind."

I hope Dad says we can stay here.

I like this place already!
