Years Ago…

"I woke up in a big black room."

Young teenager Eda opened her eyes to see a world of darkness, while fear hit her heart. She looked around as she tried to find out and soon discovered she was not alone.

"Then, it came."

SHHHHHHHHRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKK!

Eda screamed in horror and then tried to run away as it was chasing her.

"I keep running and running…"

The Healing Coven wrote down everything about her condition.

"And that's all I can remember," Eda concluded as the emperor approached her.

"Edalyn, the animal in your dreams, can you describe its features?" Belos requested from the young girl.

"Y-yeah, it was like a griffin but an owl thing. Big, grey, and mean." She described it as she drew a picture of it.

"The Owl Beast, one of the Thirteen…" Belos concluded as the Healing Coven gasped in shock, little Lilith secretly listening in.

"A beast curse… That's the most illegal curse of them all. A crime so high level that it is worthy of petrification just by buying one, let alone possessing one without delivering it to the Covens." One of them noted as Lilith gasped.

She couldn't-shouldn't tell anyone. If anyone found out… she'll-she'll. No one can find out. No one.

"Forget about that stupid law, tell me how to remove the curse!" Gwendolyn demanded, causing Belos to sigh.

"There is none." He told her then turned to the young Eda, "Edalyn, I swear we will give you justice, but I can't remove the curse. Once the Beast Curse is there, it's there for life. Full removal is fatal."

Eda was stunned and touched her chest.

"But do not lose hope. I, myself, have a beast. It's been with me for as long as I can remember. It's not going to destroy you-."

"Tell that to my dad!" She scoffed at the Emperor of the Boiling Isles.

"Edalyn, you have the power. It's inside your soul. All I can leave you is some advice. If removal or a cure is not those paths to take, then what?"

"Here."

The Healing Coven Head then gave the girl a gemstone.

"This will monitor your magic if the beast sprouts up. It's quite a fashion trend, the emperor has one too."

"Though, mine is a star sapphire. It comes quite in handy." Philip presented, showing his own gemstone.

"Oh, pretty. May I talk to you all outside?" Gwendolyn requested while everyone nodded and did so.

Eda listened in.

"What the heck was that?! A monster is infecting my daughter and you give her a rock?" She snarled at the pair, "And you, you know these things better than anyone in the realm-."

"Don't you dare question my competence, Clawthorne? You may have married into the family, and a very, very distant member of my blood, a single drop, but that doesn't mean I will tolerate your rudeness." Belos sneered at the woman, "This is beyond your knowledge and beyond your meager magic-."

"You are calling me meager-!"

"Uncle, Madam Clawthorne, enough! This is not helping Lady Eda." The Golden Guard sighed at them, then revealed the face of a young woman, Petunia, "Uncle, are you sure there is nothing you can do?"

Belos sighed.

"It's not our fight. I can't help her, you can't help her, the only one who can is Eda. Only she has the power to-."

"There must be a cure! Tell me, you must know! You are the Healing Coven!" Gwendolyn demanded.

"There is none, this curse is beyond our knowledge. But there is a way to keep the Beast at bay. The Potion Coven creates elixirs for the emperor-."

"At bay, oh, no, no, no! I want that thing out of my daughter Cut it out if you have to!" She sneered as Eda gasped in horror.

"She'll die if you try, Gwen!"

Eda panicked and noticed the window. She fled through the window and hopped into the family's crypt. From there, she bumped into the statue of Evalyn Clawthorne.

'May she and her love forever walk the plains of reality forever…'

She was holding the family's sacred relic, the very first Magic Door. Eda uncovered a secret switch within the stone ring and the statue unleashed the door. With her mother closing in, Eda used the door and ran inside!
