Hey everyone, sorry about the lengthy delay in updating this story. I edited this the best I could, I hope you enjoy. As usual, I own nothing, Suzanne Collins owns everything related to Hunger Games.

Chapter 2

"The trip home must've taken a lot out of her." Katniss heard someone say. She was just starting to wake up from a very heavy and deep sleep.

"Mommy said she was happy to visit, Granma." Rickon said in a muffled voice. Katniss' eyes fluttered open, taking in the scene of her son cramming a cookie in his mouth while sitting on his grandmother's lap. Rhiannon was happily drawing and coloring on the floor under the dining room table. Katniss slowly sat up.

"Look who's finally awake." Prim said, bringing in a tray with tea and hot chocolate.

"Hi, when did these two wake up?" Katniss asked groggily.

"A few hours ago. We had dinner already, there's more in the oven keeping warm." Lucille said to her daughter, content to be holding Rickon, who was currently reaching for another cookie.

"Not too many cookies, sir." Katniss said to Rickon, while standing up and stretching. Rickon looked back at his grandmother.

"No more after that. You can have more tomorrow after dinner." The blond little boy nodded his head and reached for his hot chocolate.

"Be careful, let it cool off first. Do you want to draw and color like Rhian?" Prim asked, reaching for her nephew to pull him into a hug.

"I guess so," he responded, leaving Prim's arms and scrabbling under the dining room table to assume an area close to Rhiannon, pulling paper and crayons towards him. He glanced at his mother, who was now in the kitchen fixing a plate of baked chicken and risotto.

"Is Haymitch up yet?" Katniss asked.

"Are you kidding? He's hibernating, we probably won't see him until tomorrow afternoon." Lucille replied. Apparently, she knew better than to wake her brother up once he was asleep. Katniss joined her family in the dining room and settled in to eat her dinner. The conversation was easy and soon, mother and daughters were laughing and reminiscing and discussing plans for the summer.

"Speaking of plans for the summer," Lucille began, seeing this as the perfect opportunity to discuss the matter of Peeta, "how do you want to handle Peeta's returning to Panem county? Do you want to head over to Mellark house or let him find out you're here on his own?" Katniss' fork clattered against her plate. Well, at least she finished her dinner. Lucille thought.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Katniss said in a mildly raise voice. Both children scrambled from under the table to see why their mother was upset.

"Kat, we didn't find out until this morning… we didn't know he was coming home." Prim answered, placing a hand over one of Katniss' fists, trying to sooth and calm her sister. Katniss looked from her sister and then to her mother, panic etched across her face.

"He's going to hate me more than he already does." Was the strangled response.

"You don't know how he's going to react, remember, he shut you out as well. I will say, he needs to know, the sooner you tell him, the better." Lucille said.

"Tell who, mommy?" Rhiannon asked, looking the picture of innocence, Rickon nodding his head in agreement with his sister's question. Katniss looked as if someone had slapped her across the face.

"You know how you two ask about your daddy has been all this time?" Katniss started, both children's eyes became as big as saucers and both nodded their head vigorously. "Well, your daddy is here in Panem, but we have to be careful, because he doesn't know about you two." Katniss explained, and no matter how she put it, she knew it sounded bad, especially when explaining the situation out loud to her children. The twins looked confused.

"But why doesn't daddy know about us?" Rickon asked in slightly hushed voice. Rhiannon bottom lip started to quiver.

"Because me and daddy were fighting, and we didn't want to talk to each other." Katniss confessed, feeling new depths of shame at having to explain to her children why their parents were behaving like complete morons. The children looked even more confused.

"Are we going to meet daddy?" Rhiannon asked.

"Yes, but I'll need to speak to daddy first before you meet him, I'll make sure you meet him as soon as possible." Katniss heard herself say, dreading having to walk over to Mellark Bakery and ask to speak to Peeta. Prim and Mrs. Everdeen seemed to have a silent conversation between each other while Katniss explained, in the simplest terms, to her children about getting in contact with their father. The twins were silent, as they seemed to need to think about this explanation and Katniss couldn't think of anything else to say.

"So, when are you going to speak with Peeta?' Prim asked.

"Peeta?" Rickon said, the question obvious in his voice.

"Yes, your father's name is Peeta." Katniss explained.

"And your name is Katniss, right mommy?" Rhiannon asked.

"Yes, darling, my name is Katniss." The twins were quiet again, then "Granma, what's your name?" Rickon asked.

"My name is Lucille." Mrs. Everdeen replied with a smile. Prim found herself quietly laughing at her niece and nephew.

"Mommy? Why is daddy's name Peeta?" Rhiannon asked.

"Because that's what his mommy and daddy named him." Katniss replied.

"So, we have another granma and we have a granpa?" Rhiannon asked, Rickon nodding again in agreement with his sister's question.

"Yes, you do." Katniss answered, trying not to make a face at the thought of Mrs. Mellark being regarded as a grandmother. The twins were silent again and this time, they crawled back under the dining room table.

"That was easy." Lucille said.

"No, they're having a twin conversation… it's a bit unnerving, but they almost don't need to speak to know what the other is thinking… there will be more questions." Katniss answered.

"So, when are you going to head over to Mellark Bakery?" Prim asked.

"You don't think I should head to their home?" Katniss asked.

"No, you might run into Peeta's girlfriend." Prim replied, before she realized what she said. Katniss' eyes were wide, and she looked as if she were just kicked in the gut.

"Well, that would probably put a damper on her visit, so maybe requesting to see Peeta at the bakery is the way to go." Katniss replied, blinking rapidly. Prim and Mrs. Everdeen had another silent conversation between themselves.

"I better head to bed, tomorrow is going to be a trying day." With that, Katniss headed up to her room and prepared for bed.

"Do you think she'll be ok?" Prim asked.

"I'm not sure, but I do think she means to get this over with as soon as humanly possible. One thing is for sure, this will create quite the scandal. I think the only person that knew Katniss was pregnant was Sae… Katniss kept going around to the Hob for lamb stew before heading out of here to New York. You know Sae would never talk." Lucille said to Prim.

"Why don't you head to bed, I'll stay up with the twins." Prim said to her mother.

"Ok, sounds good." Lucille Everdeen replied, leaving the twins alone with Prim. Prim didn't mind, she played and laughed with her niece and nephew while her sister hid herself away in her room, a pillow crammed against her mouth to stifle the crying and panic. How in the hell was Katniss going to tell Peeta about the twins?

pmpmpmpmpm

Haymitch finally graced the house with his presence the next morning, wearing rumpled pj pants, a t-shirt, a robe and three-day old stubble across his chin. Lucille was rushing about the kitchen, preparing to head out to her shop.

"How long was I out?" He asked in greeting, watching his sister rush around the kitchen.

"Long enough to miss Katniss telling the twins about their father." Lucille replied. Haymitch gaped at her in disbelief. "There's coffee on the counter and the refrigerator is stocked."

"Whoa, wait… back up. How did this happen?" Haymitch asked, heading to the percolator filled with hot coffee.

"I told her Peeta was in town and so she may want to stop by and let him know about the twins, and well, the twins were drawing under the dining room table… and yeah. Then Prim spilled the beans about Peeta bringing his girlfriend with him…" Haymitch almost spit out his coffee.

"He's seeing someone, he brought his girlfriend home and he nor his family know about the twins!? I swear, you can't make this stuff up."

"Yeah, well, this is definitely turning out to be an interesting summer. Try not to give her a hard time, she's going over to Mellark Bakery to ask to speak with Peeta, then introduce him to the twins if he wants."

"This is Peeta we're talking about… he's going to want to do more than meet his kids, he's going to want to be involved. Is Katniss ready for that?" Haymitch asked.

"She's definitely not ready to talk to Peeta, so we'll just have to take this one step at a time. Enjoy your first day over vacation, if you need anything or if anything happens, I'm just at the shop. Bye." Haymitch watched as Lucille beat hasty retreat out the door. With nothing else to do, Haymitch decided to make breakfast, and was just finishing up making waffles when to little blurs of energy came running into the kitchen.

"Unkie Haymitch, what's for breakfast?" The asked in unison.

"Did Prim put you up to this?" He asked without missing a beat.

"Yes," Rickon answered.

"We weren't supposed to tell." Rhiannon scolded. Prim appeared in the kitchen next barely containing her laughter.

"Well good morning," Haymitch said, giving Prim a quick kiss on the forehead, the twins were quickly getting settled in their seats around the table. Haymitch excelled at making breakfast and they were determined not to miss out.

"Is Katniss coming down for breakfast?"

"Katniss isn't here." Prim replied and Haymitch turned to stare at her.

"She really is going to get this all over with, huh?" He asked.

"Yes, I think revealing that Peeta is seeing someone pushed her to face this sooner rather than later."

kekekekekekeke

Katniss got up early to go for a run, in order to calm her nerves. She had run from the Seam to the Merchant strip and was now glancing at her watch and steeling herself to walk into Mellark Bakery.

"Please don't let Mrs. Mellark be there at this time." She muttered to herself. The time was 9 am and the bakery had officially been open for three hours. The bell to the door sounded as Katniss walked across the threshold of the bakery. Mr. Mellark looked up to greet a customer he heard walk in and his greeting died on his lips in shock.

"Katniss! It's been a long time!" He said, walking from around the counter to hug her in welcome. Katniss hug Mr. Mellark in return and used that time to compose herself.

"Yes, it's been a while, I wanted to pick up a few items and I also want to know if its true that Peeta is in town?" There! The question was out.

"Yes, he's in town for the summer." Mr. Mellark replied, becoming slightly guarded.

"Great, that's good to know. Um, could you please tell him I need to speak with him urgently. If he could meet me at the Hob for lunch?" Katniss continued, feeling her nerves continuing to rise.

"I will let him know you need to speak with him, unfortunately, he's taken a day trip County 13. Could you meet him tomorrow for lunch?"

"Yes, I can. I'm here for the summer as well. I feel the sooner I speak with Peeta the better for us." Katniss replied. Mr. Mellark studied Katniss for a few minutes, wondering why he felt he had recently seen a picture of her somewhere. He also saw that Katniss looked mildly distressed and couldn't quite understand why, it had been a little over five years, what could she have to speak with Peeta about to be so… scared. Yes, Katniss was scared.

"Good, I promise to have Peeta at the Hob tomorrow for lunch. What would like? It's on the house." Mr. Mellark replied gently.

"Cookies for Prim, of course and a dozen of the cheese buns please. Haymitch is also in town, so he'll want at least two cinnamon rolls." Katniss replied, some of the tension leaving her face and body. She had an extra day to figure out what she was going to say to Peeta. Katniss left the Mellark Bakery after a brief conversation about their families and such, which involved her mostly listened, just to avoid saying too much to Peeta's father. All too soon, she was back at home.

"How did it go?" Prim asked jumping up from the sofa, upon hearing Katniss coming through the back door.

"Aren't you usually helping mom at the shop around this time?"

"Haymitch took the twins to the shop, I wanted to wait for you to find out how it went at the bakery." Prim said expectantly

"It went well, Mr. Mellark is going to arrange for Peeta to meet me at the Hob tomorrow for lunch. He's out on a day trip to County 13"

"So… you have an extra day. What do you want to do for the rest of the day?"

"I would like to head into town, visit with some people. Perhaps stop by Cartwright shoe and cobbler shop and see if Delly is up for a brief visit." Katniss replied.

"Ok, I'll go with you, I'm sure mom and Haymitch probably need help with the twins."

"Let me shower and change. I bought you a few cookies from the bakery, well Mr. Mellark gave you cookies, since he said my order was on the house."

"Let me guess, you ordered cheese buns?" Prim smirked.

"Yes." Katniss replied.

"I bet you Peeta made them." Katniss scowled at Prim and headed for the stairs and about 15 minutes later, she was showered and changed. The two sisters headed out to the herbal shop. On arrival, it was clear the twins had dozens of questions and they were keeping Haymitch and Lucille busy when customers were around.

"These two are fascinated with everything." Haymitch said when Prim and Katniss entered the shop. Katniss handed over a brown paper bag containing the cinnamon rolls.

"I'll hold on to these for lunch, thanks." Haymitch replied

"How do you know what's in the bag?" She asked, "You went to Mellark Bakery and brought something for me. There has to be at least two cinnamon rolls, I can smell them and you know they're my favorite." Haymitch replied.

Katniss smiled and shook her head, "Come on Rhian and Rickon, I want to take you to another shop to meet a friend." The twins looked at their mother with interest and quickly went to grab their jackets. "Don't forget your cap, Rickon." Katniss called after her children.

"Where are you going?" Lucille asked.

"I'm going to take the twins to meet Delly." Katniss said and once the twins had their jackets, they headed out down the street with their mother. Haymitch and Lucille watched as Katniss headed over to the shoe shop.

"Do you think Delly will figure it out?" Haymitch asked.

"Yes, but Delly is discreet, she won't say anything. I'm willing to bet Katniss is going over to ask how she should break the news to Peeta." Lucille replied.

Katniss and the twins made their way around to Cartwright's shoe shop, various towns folk doing double takes as she walked down the street with the twins. Katniss had remembered in time to place a beanie on Rickon's head to cover his hair. Rickon didn't seem to mind, since the weather was still a bit chilly. Katniss noticed the curious glances at people gave the twins, but said nothing, much to her relief. She would've been surprised to find that Twelfth City in Panem county still found her to be intimidating, knowing her skill with a bow and still wondered about her knife skills. Finally the three made it past the threshold of Cartwright's, where once again, a bell alerted workers that a customer had entered the store.

"Katniss Everdeen! You are the very last person I expected to walk through that door!" Delilah Cartwright exclaimed. Delly was all smiles and luxurious blonde hair with a plump curvy figure. Katniss grinned as Delly approached for a hug.

"Don't worry, there aren't any other customers in the shop. What have we here?" Delly said, releasing Katniss from their hug and looking at the twins.

"Rickon, Rhiannon, say hello to Delly. You're to call her Miss Delly." It was then that Katniss removed Rickon's hat and Delly gasped in shock.

"Katniss! Please tell me they aren't Peeta's," Delly replied in more hushed voice. Taking a closer look at Rhiannon, and seeing that the little girl was absolutely adorable and the spitting image of Peeta. She then quickly ran over to the store front and placed the temporarily closed sign up, before anyone else could walk through the door.

"You two can look around the shop, but do not touch anything, do not climb on anything and do not reach for anything, understood?" Katniss said, the twins nodded and quickly walked down a nearby aisle.

"I can't tell you they're not Peeta's and I need your help. You're closest to Peeta out side his father and brothers… I don't know how to tell him." Katniss said, looking sheepish and embarrassed.

"Katniss, Peeta is going to go nuclear. How could you not tell him?"

"Delly, did you forget that I asked you to speak with him for me, because he refused to talk to me?"

"Yes, but you failed to tell me you were pregnant! I would've just told him since he refused to speak to you! Why didn't you just come back when they were born?" Delly asked.

"Well, that's the other thing… by that time, I was promoting my album and the schedule was intense. Plus, I was just so ashamed and embarrassed; another pregnant high school girl that was stupid enough to let a lacrosse star talk her out of her clothes, with words he didn't mean." Delly stared at Katniss in disbelief.

"I'm sorry, your what?" Delly replied not being able to get past the first part of Katniss' statement.

"My album. Have you ever heard of Bonnie Abernathy?" Katniss asked. Delly inhaled loudly before saying loudly,

"That's you!? Are you serious! Katniss, there are quite a few people here in Panem county that are huge fans, me included. I had no idea… You clean up fantastically, I'll say. I need some proof." Delly said, looking completely dazed. Katniss glanced around the store, before beginning the first few notes of "Nature Boy", her silky smooth contralto flow from her effortlessly. Delly looked completely stunned.

"Oh wow… Katniss, I had no idea you could sing like that? Why didn't you ever sing in school?"

"I used to sing when we were in elementary school, but after my father died, I just couldn't, because it was our thing. He taught me how to sing."

"So the twins are why you started singing, I'm guessing."

"Yes, and I lucked out with having an uncle that is well connected in the music industry. Haymitch assures me that even without his help, I would've landed a recording contract, it my have taken slightly longer than three months."

"Three months!? Wow, he must be truly well connected. Well Katniss, I have no idea what to tell you, you're just going to have to tell Peeta flat out. Besides, you know you meant more to Peeta than just a high school fling, why else would he go so mental at the thought of you being with someone else?"

"He refused to believe me and then refused to speak to me, Delly. For all I know, that was his out. I asked his father to have him meet me at the Hob tomorrow for lunch,"

"You're going to tell him at the Hob?!" Delly looked incredulous.

"So, you think going over to his house, or having him come over mine is a better idea? If I go to his, you know his whole family will melt down, and if he comes to mine and decides to go nuclear, Haymitch may give him a black eye… he's not too thrilled with how Peeta handled the whole cheating scandal." Katniss answered. Delly went over to take a seat just when Rhiannon rushed up.

"Mommy, I have to go bathroom." Delly pointed to the backroom

"You know where it is." She said, and Katniss steered Rhiannon to the backroom where the employee bathroom was located. While Katniss disappeared into the bathroom with Rhiannon, Delly was still sitting, thinking about how best to approach the situation with Peeta. A firm knock on the store front door, startled her. She turned and saw Barric Mellark on the other side. Completely forgetting Rickon was wondering around the shop, Delly hastily let Barric in, knowing he was picking up his work boots.

"Hey Delly! Forgot to reopen the shop?" Barric grinned. Delly had the grace to blushed, not only because Barric was handsome and Peeta's second oldest brother, but also because she knew Katniss was in the shop… with Peeta's children.

"Yeah, sorry about that, let me get that order for you." Delly raced to the back room, quickly located Barric's boots and went back out front, where her heart sank. Rickon had reappeared in the front of the store, and Barric was looking at the little boy curiously.

"Whose kid is that?" He asked, Delly replied that a friend was visiting from out of town and was running a few errands and that was their child. She focused on ringing up Barric's order, and noticed with dismay, Barric seemed fascinated. Delly knew it was the blond hair. Rickon turned around and Barric seemed to relax slightly once getting a look at the boy's face. Barric still continued to look at the boy's face, confused.

"That will be $68." Delly said, trying to distract Barric. Just then, Rhiannon came barreling through the door from the backroom. Barric looked up as the little girl ran over to her brother.

"I want to show you something." Rickon said and Rhiannon followed, but not before turning and looking at Barric. That's when Barric caught his breath. He turned and looked at Delly, waiting for an explanation.

"I must get back to babysitting." Delly said with one of her dazzling smiles. Katniss just barely saw Barric through the crack in the door and hearing Delly's mildly loud voice saying she needed to get back to babysitting, before stopping herself from going out in the shop. Barric was speechless as he paid for his boots, he turned and walked out of the shop without another word. Once Barric was out, Delly once again put up the temporarily closed sign. Katniss then rushed out into the main part of the store.

"Do you think he noticed anything?"

"Oh yeah. He was curious until he saw Rhiannon. She does look remarkably like Peeta as a child, it's almost uncanny." While the two young women were speaking, neither noticed that Barric had double backed to confirm his suspicions. Katniss Everdeen was in town… and her kids belonged to his brother.

pmpmpmpmp

The day had gone by quickly and the Everdeens were now back home enjoying dinner. Haymitch and Lucille, related events that happened in the herbal shop to entertained everyone, then asked how Katniss and Prim's rest of the day went.

"Well, while I was visiting Delly, Barric Mellark stopped by the shop, he didn't see me, but he saw the twins." Katniss announced. Everyone at the table stopped eating.

"Katniss, are you sure he didn't see you?" Lucille asked.

"Yes, I'm sure. Why do you ask?"

"Because if Barric saw you, you won't have to worry about telling Peeta, Barric will tell him."

"You think he would do something like that?" Katniss asked, becoming alarmed.

"Yes, after you left, Peeta's brothers believed you cheated on him as well. The only one in your corner was Mr. Mellark. Mrs. Mellark, well, she was only too eager to believe the worst. Then when the fist fight happened," Lucilled continued.

"Fist fight? What fist fight?" Katniss asked.

"The fist fight between Peeta and Gale." Katniss stared at her mother in disbelief.

"When I came back from taking you to New York, I discovered Gale used you to taunt Peeta, a few days later, everything came to a head. The fight was pretty bad, Gale lost two teeth, broke his nose and right hand and fractured a collar bone. Peeta had a black eye, a sprained wrist, a busted lip and several fractured ribs. After that, there was an unspoked agreement not to bring you up. Hazelle was horrified at Gale's behavior and for once, Mrs. Mellark was afraid of her youngest son." The twins were studying the adults with great interest, since a fight was mentioned.

"Hey kids, let's go upstairs and get you ready for bed." Prim said, realizing the atmosphere was tense. Not long after Prim whisked the twins away, there came a pounding on the front door.

"Who could that be at this hour pounding on the door like that?" Haymitch asked. Katniss was suddenly very scared, it was 8:30 pm, if you arrived at someone's house at that time, you called first.

"I'll get it. It could be a medical emergency." Lucille replied.

"People still come to you for emergencies?" Haymitch asked,

"Yes, before going to the doctor. The Seam is drastically better these days, but budgets are still tight." Lucille replied on her way to the front door, as the pounding began again.

"How may I help… Peeta! What are you doing here?" Katniss felt all the blood drain from her face and Haymitch threw her a look.

"Good evening Mrs. Everdeen, is Katniss available?" He asked in a barely calm voice.

"Let me see if she's available. Could you please go around to the back door and I'll send her out." Lucille walked back in the house and looked at her daughter.

"Barric saw you somehow. Well, looks like you're going to have to talk to him now, there's no way he's going to be able to wait until tomorrow." Lucille Everdeen said to her daughter. Katniss took several deep breaths before heading to the backyard. She looked as if she were going to face a firing squad. Haymitch moved to sit in the kitchen, just in case he needed to take a stroll in the backyard if the conversation became too intense.

Katniss opened the door and found Peeta pacing back and forth. She was still very light on her feet and moved silently, getting a good look at her former boyfriend. Life was simply not fair, because he was more handsome than she remembered, slightly taller and his body was pure sin, even if all he wore were jeans and a t-shirt.

"Hi Peeta." Katniss said gently, Peeta whirled around and managed to compose himself. Katniss was beautiful, her dark chestnut hair was pulled into her usual side braid, but those intense gray eyes were the same, he figure had filled out a bit, with modest curves in all the right places, and even her chest had filled out more… nothing ridiculous, but he wasn't complaining. He finally stopped looking at her hungarily and began his tirade.

"How could you not tell me!?" Peeta started, his voice low with a sight quiver. His fists were clenched at his sides, and his face was slightly red.

"Peeta, I tried. I called and called, I even sent my mother over, I wrote a letter and even asked Delly to get you to call me."

"Delly knew!?" He almost roared.

"No, I just asked her to talk to you about calling me, I never told her I was pregnant, so don't go yelling at her. The only other person that I think knew was Sae."

"So, she kept your secret as well," Peeta spat out.

"She kept it, because it wasn't her place to tell."

"Your mother could've said something at any time,"

"I sent my mother to your house, and it's best not repeated what Mrs. Mellark said to her. So, I told my mother not to tell, if she's to be treated so poorly." Katniss said coldly. Peeta stared at her in disbelief. There was no way Katniss got to be angry with this situation, because she didn't tell him she was pregnant.

"I was going to tell you, that day when I had you over and made you dinner. I was scared and nervous and then you came over, saying it was over because I slept with Gale. You called me a liar and said you never wanted to see me again, among other things. Do you really think I should've led with 'I'm pregnant with your baby'? Because we both know you would've thought Gale got me pregnant." Katniss continued coldly.

"Why didn't you just come back to Panem county after you had the twins?" Peeta asked, barely hanging on to his sanity.

"Because I had to work. I was now a single teenage mother, whose ex-boyfriend refused to have a civil conversation with her. Why didn't you call me? Why didn't you try to see how I was doing? Why did you believe I cheated on you? Why was it so easy to believe the worst of me?" Katniss asked, her voice becoming more distressed with each question.

"Don't turn this around on me! You did not tell me about our children!" Peeta finally exploded and Haymitch came flying out the backdoor.

"Pride of Panem County or not, I'll slap the shit out of you, boy, if you raise your voice to my niece again. She's been through enough in her short life." Haymitch stated in a calm voice. Peeta looked thoroughly surprised and then turned back to Katniss.

"When can I meet my kids?" He asked.

"Not until you feel you can stop being angry with me long enough to have a civil conversation. They've waited their whole life to meet you, and I strongly suggest you make a good impression." Katniss replied, Peeta looked surprised.

"They know about me? What have you told them?"

"I told them that we were so busy fighting, that I didn't get a chance to tell you about them." Both Katniss and Peeta were silent then.

"If we're done here, I suggest meeting up tomorrow at the Hob for lunch, as originally planned?" Haymitch interjected. Peeta looked from Haymitch to Katniss curiously.

"I spoke with your father this morning, looking for you. Once I found out you were here for the summer as well, I wanted to tell you as soon as possible. Did you get a chance to speak to your father before Barric ran and told you about the twins?" Katniss asked, Peeta looked completely taken aback.

"No, Barric called when I was on my way back from Coin County." Peeta said quietly, all the fight leaving him, he now looked like he was thinking over what was said and maybe a few events in the past.

"It's been a long day and I'm still tired from our trip here. I'll see you tomorrow for lunch then?" Katniss asked.

"Sure, let's meet up around 11:30. Goodnight." Peeta said and then he turned to leave.

"Goodnight, Peeta." Katniss said, in a small voice. She then turned and headed into the house, shortly followed by Haymitch.
