Disclamer: I do not own Harry Potter, or any of the other characters in this story.

The Yule ball was beautiful and to Draco Malfoy the star of the room was one brown haired bookworm in a beautiful blue dress, who was currently dancing with Victor Krum. The song ended and Hermione went to sit down as Krum went to get some drinks.

Even as Draco watched he could tell something was wrong, the blissful smile had fallen from Hermione Granger's face and she suddenly looked down heartened as she stared at something that Draco couldn't see. In unison Hermione ran out and the crowd in the direction Hermione had been looking thinned and Draco could suddenly see why she had left. She was been watching Krum. She had been watching Krum make out with another girl.

Draco hurried after Hermione and quickly found her sitting on a bench in the grounds, surrounded by fairies that had been brought in to decorate the grounds for the ball. In that moment, with the light surrounding her as she sat an cried, she looked heavenly. Hermione must of heard him as she looked up, with on tear glistening as it fell down the side of her face. Her eyes were full of unshed tears and pain, which tugged straight at Draco's heart strings.

Draco slowly walked forward, encouraged by the fact that she hadn't told him to leave her alone. When he reached her instead of sitting down beside her he knelt on the ground in front of her, and lifted her chin with his hands so she had to look him in the eyes. She flinched slightly at his touch but didn't pull away completely.

Draco was the first to speak, " I saw Krum," when Hermione didn't reply he continued. "Honestly I have no idea why he would go for her, I mean I guess she's okay looking but you're amazing. More so tonight then ever," Draco was starting to ramble, but he couldn't stop.

Hermione realising this reached up, with her hands and placed them on either side of his face. This unexpected movement caused Draco to stop in his tracks.

"Just breathe," Hermione said gently, and as they both looked into each others eyes, both stopped all sudden thought. Neither broke eye contact, and no more words were spoken between the pair that night, though neither left that bench into hours after the ball had finished.
