The motor of the Impala purrs softly in the background of AC/DC. Dean's eyes are set on the road, while Castiel twists nervously in the seat next to Dean.
"First time riding a car?" Dean asks amused a wide, giving Cas a brief glance. Cas turns his gaze from the window to Dean and nods.
"I am more used to zap into places."
Dean laughs trough his nose and turns his gaze to meet Castiel's blue eyes. "So… Why not now?" Castiel frowns a little, his hands leaning against his knees. "I just wanted to know why you love this so much," he says, relaxes and shoves his hands into the pockets of the trench coat. Dean lets out a simple "oh" , staring the open road ahead. They both stay quiet for a while.
Dean parks the car outside a small diner.
"We stopped." Castiel frowns glaring Dean.
"Yeah well, I'm human, I'm hungry and I really want some good ol' apple pie," Dean smirks and gets out of the Impala.
"You hungry?"
"I think I'll just… Stay here," Cas breathes twisting in his seat. Dean laughs, walks by Cas' side and opens the door. "Sorry Cas, but I ain't leaving my baby alone with an angel." Dean grabs Cas' arm and helps the confused angel out of the car.
In the diner Dean and Castiel settles down by the window. Dean had orders his apple pie. Cas tells that angels don't eat. When the waiter brings Dean his pie, the hunter grabs his knife and fork and starts slicing the pie. After slicing, Dean grabs the first bit with his bear hands and eats it with two bites.
"You could use your utensils. That is why you got them," Cas frowns glaring Dean. Dean ignores Cas' words and gaze, and lets out a satisfied sigh. "Man, you gotta taste this pie!" Dean coaxes a smile on his face, handing Cas a piece of his pie. Cas stares the small piece of pie in Dean's hand, and then turns to stare angel looks so serious, like he really needs to consider, if he'd taste the pie.
"It ain't gonna kill you," Dean teases a grin on his face, leaning closer to the angel. Castiel glances Dean briefly before leaning forward and taking a bite of the sudden movement and the quick touch of soft lips surprises Dean that much that the hunter forgets to move for a couple of seconds.
"Mmm, I really liked that," Cas hums pleased a small smile on his face. Dean decides to feed another bite to his happy angel friend.
They had been driving a half an hour in a comfortable silence, just the sound of the Impala in the background. Castiel turns to glance at Dean and opens his mouth a couple of times before saying anything.
"So you and Sam are… Taking a separate vacation?" Dean keeps his eyes on the road, but knowing the angel is staring at him, he nods. Castiel lets out a deep sigh.
"I'm sorry I ruined you vacation," he says turning his gaze to the ceiling of the Impala.
"What do you mean?"
"You were on a vacation and I came and dragged you to Maine for some angel hunt."
The angel sound so genially sad and apologetic, that Dean turns his gaze to glance the blue-eyed almost-fallen angel. The hunter gives him a brief smile.
"To be honest, I rather hunt down a friggin' ninja angel, than hang out alone in a dirty motel room, y'know." They stare at each other for a moment that feels like eternity.
"Thank you Dean."
"You're welcome Cas."
