You And Me Means Perfect
CHAPTER 2
-REPLAY-
The stars were barely visible now. Only the darkness from the missing sun that covered the sky. He stared at them for awhile. He didn't know how much time had passed when he heard the sound of a dog barking at his direction.
"Tsuyoshi! Don't run too fast! I can't catch up!"
Hitsugaya felt his hearing organ was playing with him. There was just no way that he could hear her voice again. His grips on the metal bar tightened as his heartbeat fastened. His chest was hurting like before.
'Toshiro, you're just imagining things...,' he encouraged himself to not turn to the direction of the voice
His eyes betrayed him though. His head already turned to the owner of the voice.
-END-
Toshiro almost felt his heart stopped when he looked at the girl's appearance. Almost everything reminded him of her. Reminded him of their memories. Reminded him of those haunting dreams. One thing made him feel relieved.
They didn't have the same eye color. One was dark while the other was light.
The silver haired boy felt his lungs trying to catch as many oxygen as they could when he felt the aching feeling. He tried to control his heartbeat silently, not wanting to catch the girl who was trying to catch up with her pet as much attention as possible. Fortunately, the girl's focus was still with her energetic pet.
Hitsugaya's eyes turned towards the running dog from his left side to his right. The dog didn't stop at all even when its owner fall at some points. Its just too busy running free without leash. The boy's eyes widened slightly at the sight of a ghostly bare feet were passed through by the dog and its owner.
'And I thought I could some fresh air and a quality time alone...' he hid a sigh from coming out and walked towards the girl.
The girl was surprised that Hitsugaya kept his gaze attached on her still. She clearly wasn't expecting to see someone this early in the morning, especially ones who can see her wholly.
"Hey. What are you doing this early in the morning?" Hitsugaya kept his stare.
The girl jumped a little, surprised that he talked to her. No one else but her since there wasn't anybody but them at the moment.
"I-I was taking a walk... and I think I got lost somehow." she answer timidly.
Hitsugaya saw the metal attached to her chest floating slightly and he could safely assume that the Soul Burial would work on her. He walked towards the girl and with a quick movement, he changed himself into his shinigami form and touch the hilt of his sword on the girl's forehead.
"There will be a ticket in your pocket when you arrive. Give it to the person who ask for it and you will find peace there." Toshiro explained briefly.
"Okay! Thank you, Mister!" the girl smiles and slowly she disappeared from his vision.
Hitsugaya sighed and looked at the sun that is now peeking shyly from the horizon. He united himself with his gigai and decided that it was the time for him to return to Orihime's apartment.
'After buying myself some onigiri in the closest market of course,' the boy walked with his hands in his pocket.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O
Beep... Beep... Beep...
She could hear the sound of her heart monitor beeping beside her. As much as she wanted to turn its annoying sound off, she couldn't. Morelike she was unable to do so. Her world was surrounded with one color : Black. She couldn't control her movement. Her body wouldn't respond to her dismay.
She appeared to be sleeping, but that word would be the word that hides all the secrets.
Secrets of the past.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O
The following day, Hitsugaya found himself awake in the early hour and he walked to the place he went to watch the sunrise yesterday. Strangely enough, he found yet the same girl as yesterday was looking at him again. Just like yesterday.
"I-I was taking a walk... and I think I got lost somehow." she answer timidly... again.
The young captain thought that maybe the Soul Burial failed and he did it again.
To his utmost dismay, the girl appeared again the day after that. This time, it was different.
"Oh! I met you yesterday and I can't seem to find the ticket in my pocket like you said it should have appeared." she told him with a smile.
'How is it possible?' Toshiro thought bewildered.
Doing a Soul Burial twice for the same soul would have the soul to go to Soul Society for good. This time, it didn't. Was something wrong with the Soul Society that they couldn't receive another soul for the moment?
"How can you still be here? I have used the same thing that should have brought you to Soul Society, where souls went after they passed away, but you're still here. Why?" Toshiro narrows his eyes, feeling cautious about the girl.
Never judge by the appearance. She might looked innocent, but she could have been an enemy.
"I don't know... I'm just not ready to move on, I guess..." the girl confessed.
'Ah... That explains most of the problem...' Hitsugaya mentally nodded,'... not!'
Day after day, the boy kept seeing the girl in the same time. They would talk and eventually part ways when the sun rises. Although, one day Toshiro faked his parting and decided to follow the girl with his shinigami form.
He followed her walking around Karakura Town until noon. From the market, to the mall, the shopping street, and the park where she ended her walk and something strange happened to her body. A light engulfed her and formed a tiny light ball that float in the air. The ball started to move around the air before it floated to the east. The young captain kept track of the ball very closely still.
But then, after a few minutes the ball of light popped and synchronizing with the first bell from the park's big clock.
'That is odd... I am going to contact Soul Society about this particular soul,' Toshiro decided as he walked back to the apartment.
He opened the door and was welcomed by weird looking food on the table. The silver haired boy begged Kami to get him out of the apartment to buy an edible food at the moment.
O.o.O.o.O.o.O
Hinamori Momo was to retrieve a document in Shiro-chan's office that she had forgotten to take with her a few days ago. She peered open the office to see her friend and his lieutenant weren't there. The girl knew that her childhood friend was send to keep a close watch at Karakura Town at the moment and will not be back until sometime.
The lieutenant looked at Hitsugaya's desk to see three inches of paper work, a quill, a bottle of ink, and a tea cup. She searched for the document but didn't found it anywhere. She began to open drawer after drawer on his desk and she stopped at the last drawer on the right.
A framed photo was placed on top of of papers she doubted was hers. The photo was placed upside down which increased her curiosity further. She gently took the photo and turned it around. Her eyes widened slightly at the photo in front of her.
The photo was taken when Shiro-chan graduated Shino Academy. There were Shiro-chan in the middle, Rangiku to his left, herself beside the strawberry blonde woman, and a certain girl. Momo felt her heart filled with sadness and grief.
The girl was lost and no where to be found up until now. She was the person her childhood friend had held close to him. The lieutenant could remember freshly the pain in Toshiro's eyes when she was missing without a trace and when Soul Society marked her as missing and deceased after a few years.
All the things that had happened was like a real life novel or drama. She, however, was no one to judge at their story. It was never revealed in detail about the two of them. There was a missing piece in the story and now that the girl was gone, it was never to be completed. The case was never truly closed.
The brown haired girl was about to return the frame back when another photo slipped out of the old frame.
This time was a picture of the girl smiling happily while she looked at the sight in front of her, not realizing that a photo was taken silently.
Momo felt her heart crushed again at the grief Toshiro must have felt. If she was feeling this sad about this old friend of her...
She couldn't imagine how Toshiro must have felt.
