Conflicting emotions
Emma had never been a foolish woman, she had just had a tendency to have tons of bad luck. Like ending up in jail and now in bed with her ex. She knew she was only lucky to get into Regina's bed the night she returned, she suspected her to be as tired as she was. The next morning the blonde would however wake before her, and so she decided to make her breakfast. After a shower that was.
As she was standing in the kitchen making everything from pancakes to salad, Henry came in saying, "You're back."
"Hey kid," said Emma, giving him a smile.
"You know what you did was a shitty thing, leaving even worse," he said, taking a toast and started chewing on it.
"Don't you think I know that," she said with a heavy sigh. He didn't speak, he continued to chew, hearing his mother's footsteps down the stairs.
"Mmm, something smells great in here, good morning Henry," said Regina smiled at them. Henry in the corner of his eyes saw how his mother's fingers graced Emma's lower arm. Emma gave her a smile. Henry rolled his eyes, grabbed his backpack and left. Regina sighed saying, "I do hope you know you are not out of the woods yet."
"I know I am not," said Emma with a nod.
"You are lucky you are this cute," said Regina, giving her a peck on the cheek, grabbing a pancake, spreading some sugar on it, before she started to eat. Emma blushed slightly. She smiled at Regina grabbing a pancake as well. As Regina sometime after finished up she said, "I hope you realize you have to clean up before leaving."
"I...of course," the blonde nodded, slowly starting on the task, Regina smiled, shaking her head, slowly walking towards the hallway to leave.
"Delivery for you Madam Mayor," she heard her secretary say as she poked her head through the door. It seemed like for the last week Emma had in the process of winning Regina over sent deliveries to her office. Regina made a hand-gesture for the secretary to bring it in. A square box this time. Regina frowned jewellery, surely Emma could not have bought that for her. She wouldn't have been able to afford it. Still eager fingers removed the purple paper finding a box inside. She opened it finding a silver chain, with a sword pendant. The savior, her savior. She smiled, putting it on.
Even if the gesture was king of silly she found it cute, and Regina was not the one to turn down jewelry given to her out of love. She smiled, texting Emma saying, "I love it, thank you so much. Dinner at your place tonight?"
"Sure thing, come by at 7, I'll wrangle up something," it came back.
Regina frowned, also a way of putting it. She shook her head and opened another document on her computer, wondering if Emma would get her parents out of the house or not. Henry was set to spend the evening with his father, he was going to teach him how to fix an engine Regina had got it.
7 PM Snow and Charming was walking towards the door and Snow said, "You know we could have stayed, we would not have been in the way."
"Mooom!" Emma sounded like a frustrated teenager, speeding around the kitchen, clearly stressed.
"Come on, Snow," her father shoot in, dragging his wife out of the door. She just shook her head slightly following him. On the way down they ran into Regina, they gave a polite nod. She did the same and walked pass them to their apartment. She nervously rang the doorbell, not quite knowing why she was actually nervous. Then it came to her, this was her first real date since she was very young and her mother tried setting her up with prince's and royalty around to find her a perfect match. Not to mention this was someone she actually cared about. She frowned as Emma open, wearing a apron, baby pink with a a royal crown beneath it it said carry on cooking. It was not completely clean. Emma saw her frown and said, "Mom's it was between that, the one with apples, or dad's saying chef of the year."
"You actually cooked?" Regina seemed gladly surprised as she walked inside, and hang her red blazer on one of the hooks in the hallway. She followed Emma inside the apartment she had set the table quite nicely, she had even used napkins, Regina didn't why but she was impressed.
"I did, I can cook, maybe not as well as you, but I still can," said Emma with a smile, going over to the stove to tend to whatever it was she was making.
"Well I had years of practice, twenty-eight years to be more exact," said Regina with a heavy sigh.
"Guess you had to do something to make time pass in this town," Emma said in a sympathetic tone.
"I did yes, that and gardening," said Regina with a nod.
"Yeah that reminds me of something I have been wondering about, you said time stood still for twenty-eight years, did the season do so as well?" asked Emma, looking at her with wondering eyes, taking a casserole of the stove and pouring water of the pasta and putting the pasta into a bowl. She then found a bowl of salad in the fridge, putting both bowls on the table. When she was done with that she added a bowl of cheese, some with meat-souse and a basket with garlic bread, and motioned for Regina to sit, which she did.
As Emma served her some white wine Regina said, "Amazingly enough the seasons came and went and we did even celebrate Christmas, I decorated the whole town, I do so every year."
"Some strange system, then I came along and make your system a mess," said Emma with a slight laugh, helping herself with some bread.
"That you did, which I am now very thankful for," said Regina with a smile.
"Awwwe Regina, you say the sweetest things," said Emma, blushing slightly.
"I try, now if you would like to share some light on your past I would be very greatful," said Regina, making the blonde sigh and nod. She knew she couldn't deny her that or anything else.
It was close to midnight when the Charming's returned only to find Emma and Regina sleeping on the couch, the television still on. Regina curled up close to Emma, her legs curled up underneath her, her head resting against Emma's chest. Emma's arm around her, head resting on top of the brunettes.
"I never thought I would say this, but Regina is cute when she is sleeping," said Charming shaking his head.
"They both are," Snow walked over and turned of the TV and lay a blanket over both of them. She hated to admit that it was something of the cuter she had seen. She of course had seen the brunette sleeping when she raised her once upon a time in the past. However that was ages ago. She smiled as she dragged Charming to bed, not to wake them.
"You okay?" Regina asked worried, looking at Emma, she was throwing up again. Forth morning that week. In addition she was tired and pale, she seemed to better by evening, but not by much.
"Probably just stomach flu," the blonde said, giving her a vague smile.
"Sure you haven't gotten pregnant from the thing with Neal?" Regina asked, frowning, after all it did happen about a month ago.
"I'm sure I couldn't be," said Emma with a heavy sigh.
"I rather know if that should happen to be the case, so I know what to expect," said Regina with a heavy sigh. Even if she was not crazy about the thought of that, she knew that it was most likely the case.
Emma nodded saying, "If that is the case I will not go through with it."
"Let us find out first, I'll call Dr. Whale and make sure he has an appointment ready," she said, reaching for the phone on the nightstand before the blonde could react. She obviously soon got him as she said, "Dr. Whale I need you to fit in the Sheriff this morning, it is urgent, yes, no, yes, alright, thanks."
"I could have done that myself you know," said Emma, frowning at her.
"Could have yes I am sure, would no, make sure to be there at ten, come to my office after," said Regina, putting on a pair of black boots. As she hurried out of the bedroom, Emma called after her, "Regina wait!"
"I have a meeting and I am already late. I suspect you will be there when you are done," she lied through her teeth. She simply needed air. She had feared something like this could happen and now that it might be a fact she wasn't sure how to deal with it.
"Regina!" Emma yelled after her, hearing the door slam shut behind her. She sighed looking at Henry that was looking out of the door saying, "What did you do now?"
"Nothing Henry, nothing, would you please get ready you have school," she said with a heavy sigh. He rolled his eyes saying, "Please don't hurt her again."
"I don't plan to, hurry up you need to eat before leaving," she said, hurrying down the stairs. She knew Regina would not approve of him going to school without eating. She on the other hand didn't care too much. Still she made two bowls of cereal with milk and waited for him to come down.
Regina was in her office as she said, were else would she really be; only she had cancelled every meeting she had all day. She groaned, she truly hated this. One thing was trying to get pass what Emma and Neal had done, it was quite another to have a baby as a constant reminder of that. She sighed heavily knowing her son was not planned either, why Emma had put him up for adoption, only she had been young and in love then. She didn't have to tell her, the brunette already knew.
Now on the other hand, she should have known better even being under the influence. And Neal, he was right he should have stayed off. She just wanted to be happy with Emma, but now… A million thoughts were running through her mind. The last moth everything had been so perfect, they had starting to get back to where she wanted to be. She wasn't sure if she could take another fall, she didn't wish to either.
The thing was that Regina wouldn't have minded to have more siblings for Henry or for Emma to carry them. After all she was unable to conceive, which was why she had been so overjoyed when she could adopt Henry. She loved him more than she thought she could ever love anyone. And she loved Emma partly because she created him.
Tears running down her cheek as Emma entered and said, "You okay?"
She sucked it up she had to. Better to get it over with, she nodded vaguely asking, "So?"
"You were right," said Emma, looking down. She didn't want this not at all, not now when she had finally started to mend fences with Regina. Lately she had done everything for her, showed her how much she meant to her by giving her gifts, notes and other small things.
"So what do you wish to do? Keep it not keep it, tell Neal or not?" Regina made it sound like it to her was no big deal, when that in fact was not so.
"I don't know, the timing could not be worse and so maybe it is better not to keep it," she said, sighing heavily.
"You should know I am not happy with this, however if you choose to have it I will support you as well as I can. I don't want to lose you," she said, sighing heavily. She couldn't afford to do that, it would be like losing the love of her life all over again. Because she knew for a fact that Emma was just that.
"You really think you can do this, raise another child of mine?" Emma asked, a bit surprised by her statement. She really had to love her she figured.
"I could raise one hundred of your children, it is not the child I am against it is the circumstance under which it is made," she said truthfully. She slowly got up and walked over to Emma which hugged her tight and said, "Will we be okay if I go through with this?"
"Yes," Regina said, again her tears started to fall and she started to sob. Emma held her tighter whispering, "I got you and I am not letting you go."
"And for that I am very thankful," Regina got out between her sobs. Emma just let her cry, truth to be told she did not mind, knowing this had to be hard on her queen.
