The story is back to present day with Verian looking upon Earth.

Verian POV

As we gear up to depart for Earth, I sit in my room, on my starship, upon a mat with a view of North America. The fleet of war ships is stationed

just beyond the outer atmosphere. I sit here wondering what my life would have been like if Skylar had not found me. Where would I be?

Skylar.

Just saying her name makes me feel safe, makes me feel at home. Even now with her not far away, I begin to wonder if we can win this war. The

Council has instructed me not to tell anyone of the threat until the right time. Not even Skylar. She knows I am hiding something, but orders are

orders for a soldier. But then again, I'm not a soldier.

I stand and walk over to my weapons closet. I step inside and close the door behind me. I pull on combat pants and a shirt before strapping on my

combat boots. I throw my cloak over my back. I strap on my short swords, making an X across my back. I tuck my hidden swords into the cloak,

and pull on my fingerless gauntlets. The undersides of the wrists have knives that can protrude out for stealth attacks. I tuck three throwing knives

into my belt. Desert Eagles are holstered on each thigh, with twin M1911 strapped to my chest. Two plasma pistols hand backwards of my belt.

One ten inch combat knife strapped to my left shoulder upside down. Twin devil knives tucked into my boots. My long sword Reaper completes my

arsenal. My entire rig is black to keep me hidden in stealth situations. Might I say, this is my lightweight rig.

I step out of the closet to see Skylar still sleeping peacefully on our bed. I decided to let her sleep and I step out of our flat on the ship. I walk the

corridors to the lifts, and head to the bridge.

As I step onto the bridge, I hear an officer call out:

"Assassin on deck."

"At ease, boys you know that is not necessary."

I keep walking until I reach a double set of doors displayed as "War Room." I step through the doors to find our main strike team, Admiral

Tuck, General Teige, and the other ships captains standing around a war table with projected screens all around them. Officers are running around

shouting orders. As I move to the table, I pull my hood down off the skull cap on my head, and remove my tinted glasses that allow me to see out

but no one to see in. Admiral Tuck notices me first and proclaims:

"Assassin on deck."

"At ease, Tuck what is the situation."

"Olympus is in Chaos, Othyrus has been rebuilt again, and monsters are attacking both camps."

"Delta, do you or your squad have anything to report."

Boss leans in and says, "Both Gaea and Kronos have risen and are at full strength, our spies report her council is in session as we speak. She plans

on taking New York and the two camps down at the same time."

General Teige speaks up, "My scout is in her inner circle, she says that Gaea is only attacking New York and hopes to keep the two camps separated

from the city."

I observe the map of New York City, mulling over the information I have received and what I already know. This coming war could cover all of the

United States and possibly Canada and Mexico. Not much can be certain with the Primordial's.

"I want our ground/air base set up on Mount Olympus in Greece, Have the forward operating base touch down in Washington D.C., and the Scouting

Stronghold built in Alaska. The main troop base is in New York City. I want the ground troops stationed in D.C., Boston, Louisiana, Miami, Denver,

Chicago, and St. Louis. Create a safety ring of ten miles around Manhattan. I want a wall built and the bridges rigged with explosives, and patrol

boats in the water and battleships stationed of the coast. Contact all those cities mentioned, tell them to evacuate the city. People we are at

Defcon 2. Are my orders clear?"

The people around the table shake heads and give a few 'yes sirs' before the doors are opened behind me. Alistair and Nightshade walk in all

dressed for war.

"You didn't think you could keep us out of the party did you?" Alistair proclaims.

"No, you two will be joining Delta, Skylar and I on Olympus. Boss, take your squad to San Diego. You are our forward scout team. General Teige,

visit our lovely friend in D.C., you're the diplomat with the mortals. Admiral, hold here and coordinate the fleet in sea, air and space. I want boots

on the ground in forty-eight hours. Delta, Alistair, and Nightshade, Meet me on my ship in twenty-four hours. Those are your orders until further

notice."

I turn on my heel, and walk back to my room to find Skylar awake on the bed. As I remove my weapons and cloak, leaving me in a black

shirt, combat pants, I walk to the bed and lay down next to her.

"How did the meeting go?"

I sigh, "Fine, but he Olympians are fighting themselves rather than get ready for the war. Their children are more prepared."

She rolls onto my lap and stares down at me saying, "That's ok, we will put them in line tomorrow. I suppose you already gave everyone orders?"

"Of course, milady."

She smiles down at me, "You were always a cheeky fellow. I suppose that is why I fell in love with you."

We fall asleep after a couple more hours of chatting, and other stuff . . . but there was no talk of the war. If this was the last time I would

be able to talk soft with her for a while I was going to make the most of it.

Tomorrow we will get the Olympians and their children ready for war, then I can do what I do best. Reap souls.
