Ali: Hey!

Bubba: Are you gonna say the disclaimer.

Ali: Um... no!

Bubba: *pulls out ax* Really?

Ali: *pales* I own nothing but the plot.

Chapter Two:

How the Angel Surprises the Demon

How the Demon Surprises the Angel

Adarian was in the student center, sitting away from practically everyone. Sure, he was popular, but he preferred to be alone, though that rarely happened. His blue eyes were on his journal to "study" for some stupid test. He had to get decent grades, he felt, in order to fall into the role. He heard someone walking over, but didn't pay attention to them, thinking it was someone else wanting to talk to him. He noticed that they stopped in front of him and shifted for a second.

"Hello," a familiar voice said, making him lift his head. "I wanted thank you again for saving me."

He closed his journal and shifted, his stomach churning as he stared at the beautiful blond. "Um... it's alright. Do you... do you wanna sit?"

Cherise smiled and sat down beside him. "Thanks. What were you looking at?"

Why am I like this? the Malachi wondered as he nervously opened his notes. "Oh... um, it's notes for the history test. I was going over it."

She nodded. "Do you get it?"

"I think so." They spent the rest of breakfast with each other talking and studying. When it was time to leave he grabbed her bag and his. "I'll walk you to class."

"That's so sweet," she said with a genuine smile that made his insides melt. "Thank you. But what about your class?"

"I'll run," he assured.

He walked her to class and then handed her her books. She thanked him and then he literally ran to his class which was on the other side of the school. He managed to get to class on time, but all throughout the class he couldn't get his mind of of Cherise Gautier. She was beautiful, amazing, smart, innocent (and he wanted to be the one to take that innocence, or at least some of it)... she was perfect. As soon as the bell rang he ran to her classroom once again and skidded to a halt in front of her, a nervous grin on his face.

"Well, well, you're a gentleman," she said.

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Well... I just thought... well... Want me to carry your bag again?"

She giggled and handed him her bag and walked beside him towards her next class. He didn't know why he was puddy in her hands, but it was a... pleasant surprise, really. She took her bag and then he went to his class, which at least was closer. They managed to do this the entire day until the end of the day and he ended up walking her home.

"Hey, Cherise?" he asked when she got near her door.

"Yes Adarian?"

"Stay inside at night... and here's my number if you need anything... and I mean anything okay?"

She clutched the piece of paper in her hands and nodded, a dazed look on her face. "Okay."

"I'll pick you up tomorrow for school... do this again?"

She looked in complete and total shock, starstruck even. "S-sure."

Adarian flashed her a winning smile, something he usually didn't do, and turned and walked away. He didn't get too far away until he heard something and spun around, glaring. Demons were everywhere and wanted to kill him before he could even begin to control his powers. He resisted making a flame in his hand and chunking it at the nearest person, but he couldn't do anything yet. He breathed deeply and continued to walk all the way to his home, but sadly people wanted to jump him and he easily took them out.

When are they going to learn? There's no beating me, he wondered.

He entered his apartment and felt hollow. There was no one to say, "I'm home" to. He dropped his bag and collapsed on the couch and almost cried. He hated the world for taking his parents from him, for making him live alone at all. He hated everything... except Cherise. She was the one thing that he didn't hate with everything in him.

Ali: I know, I'm rushing it, but I'm in a rush to get to the other things, give me a minute!
