Blue's PoV
I'm gonna kill her.
"Blue, I don't think that's doing anything…"
Next time she shows her annoyingly peppy face, I'm gonna whack her into next week. I'm dead serious. I'm gonna make her sorry she ever messed with the great Link!
"Blue, I really think you should calm down."
"You're wasting precious energy, boy. I suggest you stop acting like a maniac and help us figure a way out of this mess."
"To hell with that! If I want to bash away with my hammer on this godforsaken wall, by Goddess, I'm gonna do it! I've got to save Zelda!", I yelled.
"What's the use saving Pink if you're too tired to move?"
I stopped, my hammer still on the wall where I had been hitting and slumped against it. The pipsqueak was right, as much as I hated to admit. My hammer had hardly made a dent in the vine-covered stone. Huffing from my outburst, I glared at Minish. "What other ideas do you have, huh? I don't see any doors here!"
The room was nothing but a stone box, except for the open ceiling, which only seemed more treacherous by the pitch black sky. Vines covered every inch of the walls, but their thorns made them impossible to climb. The only other thing in the room was a petrified tree stump that was rotted out on the top. It seemed out of place, but it appeared completely useless. It was firm in the ground and had nothing hidden inside. Yet, strangely, the bird hat seemed interested in it and directed Minish's attention towards the stump. Looking at it, the boy smiled and proclaimed, "It's a Minish Portal!"
Walking over to him, I looked at the stump in confusion. "Uh, that's a stump, Minish."
"Yeah, but look!" He pointed at the jagged crack in the center of the stump, "That makes it a Portal."
I looked at him, an eyebrow raised. Did I really get stuck with the crazy one? Minish could tell I didn't believe him and huffed, climbing on top of the stump. "Watch, with Ezlo's magic, I can shrink to the size of a Picori!" I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. I would amuse the kid, but once this little whack job was done embarrassing himself, I would go back to my original plan: beat the heck out of the wall.
Ezlo raises his head and starts chanting some gibberish. Strange glowing symbols appear and start rotating around him and Minish. Surprised, I stepped back, a little weirded out when suddenly Minish disappears! I blink, stunned, trying to realize what just happened. I stepped up to the stump and peered through the hole. Sure enough, a mite-sized Minish is waving at me from the ground.
"What…the hell?"
Minish runs towards tiny opening in the side of the stump, so I move to meet him at the other end. As soon as he's out, I pick him up by the back of his shirt. I hear him shriek in surprise at being manhandled as I carefully bring him up before my face. "No way. You actually shrunk!" Minish stops his squirming to smirk at me. "And you thought I was crazy," he boasts. I feel tempted to drop him just to spite him, but I decide against it.
"Great, so you can shrink yourself. How is this supposed to help us?"
Minish pointed towards the wall I was bashing. "Set me down over there. I'll see if I can find an opening somewhere."
Nodding, I walked over to the wall. It seemed this guy was smarter then he looks. Either that or the cap told him what to do. Despite his wacky appearance, Ezlo looked like someone who thought things through. I could tell because the look in his eyes reminded me of Vio.
After I set Minish down in front of the wall, the miniscule boy went straight to work, running along the side to try and find a hole to squeeze through. I quickly got bored and settled down on the ground, taking the time to check the condition of my hammer. As always, it looked as perfect as when I first obtained it. It was as if I had never used it, even though I definitely have. Vio had said something about it being imbued with the power of Force, but it doesn't matter to me why it's so durable. All I care about is how convenient it is to be able to hit as hard as I want and never have to worry about buying a new weapon.
I glanced up to see if Minish found anything, but I couldn't see him. I looked closely along the wall, but I saw no sign of him. "Minish? Where'd you go?" When I got no response I had a dreadful realization. What if I had stepped on him? The thought made me sick, but I had to check. Nervously, I checked my right shoe.
Nothing there.
Swallowing, I put my foot down. I started to raise my left foot…
Suddenly there was a loud rumbling, causing me to fall back on my rear in surprise. I looked up at the wall, pieces of dust and plant falling from the trembling wall. It was moving! Slowly, the wall dragged itself aside, revealing a long stone corridor beyond. Once it finally stopped moving, and the ground stopped shaking, I shakily rose to my feet.
What just happened? I think my ears are still ringing…
Wait a minute.
"Blue, down here!" said a tiny voice.
I looked down to see Minish waving his arms over his head at me from the ground. He was alright!
"Minish? What the hell, man?! Why didn't you tell me you had gone ahead? I thought I'd squashed you!" I was furious. I hated when people did that. The feeling of worry doesn't fit me, but that kid was my ticket out. I would've gone crazy if I had to be stuck in that stupid room for a minute longer!
Minish winced. "S-Sorry! As soon as I found the opening, I got so excited, I didn't think about it." It was hard to tell because of his size, but he seemed sincere. I was still mad, but at least he wasn't being sarcastic or questioning my manliness.
I sighed and crouched down, picking him up by his shirt again. He hardly squirmed. "Whatever. Just turn yourself big so we can get going," I said monotonously. He nodded and I took him back to the tree stump, where he ran inside and soon emerged at regular size. He smiled as he hopped down from the stump.
"Alright, let's go," he said, walking on ahead. I followed, quickly taking the lead with my hammer propped over my shoulder. No way was I letting a shrinking pipsqueak with a talking hat call the shots.
A/N: I seem to have a habit of making short chapters _ grr, oh well. anyways, to get this thing rolling faster, I'm going combine the next two chapters. Maybe even throw the third one in there as well.
Keep reading and don't forget to leave me a review! :D
