Antonio smiled as he saw Arthur staring at his hand so pensively. He felt that whatever higher beings were out there were on his smiling down on him. He held Arthur's hand the entire ride without being called names or beaten, though that may have something to do with his presence in the driver's seat. Of course, it's more likely that it was because Arthur hadn't noticed at first which meant he was just that comfortable around Antonio. He shook his head comically, most likely to clear his mind. This scenario has played itself out twice before, firstly, while they were still together, next, in Antonio's dreams (which count as one despite their frequent occurrence). Honestly, The Spaniard did not like waking up from those dreams, and he was determined not to wake up this time. With Antonio, the very moment they first clashed at sea, he had fallen, and fallen hard, so it pained him to fight his Brit. He swore to make it up to him when those days ended which they did soon enough. Although they were fun, those pirate days did hurt, make no mistake about that. Those days, prior to his civil war were his best and his worst. Before their relationship, to have Britain so bloody close, it was torture. Just like putting a child's favourite ice cream (with sprinkles and whipped cream) before them and not allowing them to eat it. After, though was so much worse. He'd had a taste of that ice cream, but was forbidden from it once again. One thing he was certain of was, he was going to get Arthur back. The date was more than what Antonio could have asked for so soon. Toni was nothing if not patient in waiting for his love to return. It was the best fun he'd had in decades, and Antonio could not stop smiling. In the car, he just wanted to enjoy himself and take savour the moment, so he didn't strike up a conversation with Arthur no matter how tempted he was to do so. He wanted to speak and hear Arthur's voice, but it was so amusing to watch him. The Briton would start to say something, but quickly change his mind, probably because he didn't want to tire out everything he had to talk about. Antonio, on the other hand, didn't think he would ever run out of topics to talk to Arthur about. Antonio pulled open the door of the café, "After you, amigo." Arthur just walked in silently mentally kicking himself for being so discourteous. He was the one who invited Antonio, and Antonio was the one holding doors and driving. How very rude. He was not in a very good mood; he was only afraid he'd lose his temper and make things worse rather than apologising. They ordered and sat down. At their table, a storm cloud was hanging over Arthur's head. Antonio tried speaking to him, but the Briton was so far gone, even Toni couldn't manage to keep up a conversation with him. When their drinks came, his mood only worsened. All Antonio could make out from under Arthur's breath was "…damn Spanish tea…" even then, the Spaniard kept his spirits high. Then Arthur received a text message, and Toni being the sweetheart he is, motioned from him to check his mobile. That made all the difference. When he looked at his phone, he instantly began to smile. Norway sent him a photo with his magical friends. Of course, Spain was oblivious to the contents or sender of the message. Nevertheless, he became extremely jealous of whoever was on the other line. Arthur was, by a single text message, comfortable enough to keep up a conversation with Antonio. Antonio tried to look at the positive and take advantage of the good mood Arthur was in, but he felt this curiosity and envy burning up inside him. He missed the right opportunity to ask about the text, though, so he couldn't ask without making things awkward again. Antonio received an opportunity to ask a few minutes later when Arthur got another text, but this time it wasn't Norway, it was Prussia. Arthur hadn't even read the message when Toni asked, "Arturo, I can't help but feeling you're much more interested in your mobile than me," Spain whined, "who are you talking to?" "Sorry," Arthur cleared his throat. "What were we talking about?" He glanced down again to reply, and let Gil know he was busy. Toni started to speak again when Arthur burst out into hysterics. When he tried to figure out what was going on, all he could catch was something about pinwheels, dye, darts, and Power Puff Girls costumes (you can take that however you'd like). Antonio was hopelessly lost (as am I) until he heard Gilbert's name slip through the Briton's lips. Why Gil would interrupt their date like that was a mystery to him. He was fuming for some time, but then put his anger off until later. He didn't need to take out his frustration on Arthur because then he wouldn't be able to fully enjoy the rare sight of Arthur laughing, but he did have a certain Prussian to talk to later.
