I'll just come out and say it. I am an awful, awful human being. I have become the fanfiction writer I loathe the most. I. AM. SO. SORRY. It's been since... NOVEMBER. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH. I still really, really, really want to finish this story, I just- am kinda at a bit of a writer's block with this particular chapter?

So, to apologize for my disappearance for the last 5 months, I am giving you the first half of this chapter. It is short, as it is only halfway completed, but this is better than nothing?

Dave shut the bathroom door and swallowed down a bit of the bile that threatened to rise from the back of his throat during Jade's retching. He could deal with blood, gore, and hard alcohol (thanks to his Bro) but when it came to the barf business, he was a total wuss. He'd thrown up one too many times as a kid because of his training sessions with his bro, which left him with a light stomach to anything barf- related. Shaking off the queasy feeling, he entered the half-kitchen in the apartment and looked in the fridge for any breakfast food. Luckily, there was some frozen Eggo waffles in the freezer, syrup in the pantry, and some AJ in the fridge. Dave got out a package of waffles and threw four in the toaster before going to grab the plates from the cluttered cupboard. Settling the plates in the crook of his arm, he grabbed the silverware and cups in the other, before making his way over to the small table. After setting down the dishes with a clatter, he quickly arranged them in a breakfast- ready formation. The ticking of the toaster echoed in the kitchen as he finished setting the table. He looked up from the wood to see Jade creeping out from the hallway, ghosting the walls as she made her way to the table.

"Do you need help?"

"I'm okay-"

The toaster dinged, interrupting Jade's reply, and distracted Dave's attention for a moment before he turned back to her.

"I'm really ok. I feel better, really."

He looked at her a moment longer, deliberating her answer before turning to get the waffles. The warm, crispy breakfast food filled the air with their sweet buttery scent as Dave removed them from the toaster and placed them on a plate. Pivoting around, he swung open the fridge and grabbed the bottle of apple juice from the door drawer. Dave kicked the door closed and walked over to the table just as Jade sat down in front of a plate.

"One order of Eggo Deluxe, hot and ready to eat." He said as he placed the plate down.

Jade gazed at the small pile and grimaced.

"Thank you."

"Welcome. Hang on. I'll see if I can find the syrup."

Dave got up from the table and went to the cupboard.

"Sh*t's gotta be somewhere…." He mumbled as he shoved other items aside.

After a few minutes of searching, he gave up and returned to the table.

"Hey, I couldn't find the syrup, so we're gonna have to tough it and eat these suckers dry I guess."

The waffles were left undisturbed as Dave sat down across from Jade. His brow furrowed slightly as he observed his silent dining partner. Something seemed to be off with Jade. He cleared his throat.

"Uh, you didn't have to wait for me or anything… here-"

A sharp sob cut him off, and the girl across from him collapsed into tears.
