I've always had a weakness for this relationship and I have no idea why! And not in a romance setting but just in a bestie setting. :-) I hope you guys enjoy this little Scully/Reyes conversation. (And yes it's a clean one)

Girl Talk

"Oh hey Dana, wasn't expecting you today…what's up?" Reyes was deep into grammatical corrections of Doggett's report. It wasn't often she did this for him but it was needed to make the work look at least somewhat credible.

"I was actually looking for Agent Doggett, he had me do an autopsy and I needed to give him the final paperwork."

"John is actually out sick today…" Reyes rolled her eyes slightly, "…we did a bit too much drinking last night, I guess I win on tequila shots, I knew there was a reason I was always proud of my Hispanic heritage." Reyes smiled at Scully and laughed.

"Wow, I'm impressed Agent Reyes…" Scully couldn't suppress a smile in her friends' direction. "…you guys finally—umm—together?"

"If you want to call it that…we've still not had sex if that's what you are implying…" Reyes lowered her head and went back to fixing paperwork. "He's not ballsy enough for me you know?" she explained her head still down. "I'm the type of girl to not take it slow; to just go with what feels right, John is not that way…" She looked up at Scully and eyed her carefully. "…What about you, obviously I know Mulder is gone for the time being, how are you holding up in that department?" Scully couldn't help but blush with Reyes thinking about her and Mulder coupling.

"We went almost 7 years with barely a kiss…I think this would be nothing…but honestly, it's been so hard." She plopped down in the chair across from the desk and looked at Reyes. "I miss his presence mainly, the cocky stubborn Mulder…and even though we didn't have a lot of time in the intimacy department—God I miss it. William keeps my mind plenty occupied though." She smiled lightly thinking of her son.

"Yeah I can't imagine how normal families do it…sex with kids around has got to be complicated in general." Reyes laughed thinking about it, she knew the day would come where she'd want to settle down and have somewhat of a normal life, husband, kids, dogs, etc. but for now, work was her priority.

"So what were you guys celebrating last night?" Scully inquired casually trying to move the conversation forward.

"Oh, um, I don't know, I uhh—I think we were just going to have a drink or two then it turned into shots and the rest was history. I tend to turn into quite the instigator when I've had too many tequila shots. So he took everyone I had as a challenge and—"she couldn't help but motion the vomiting portion and laughed thinking about it.

"Was it that bad?" Scully grimaced lightly thinking about a few drunken college nights from her past and Reyes couldn't help but giggle thinking about how she had to get Doggett into his bed at least, bucket at his side in case he ended up vomiting more.

"There goes my night of trying to take advantage of him…" she winked at Scully, "…if it's the only way I can get it, I'll take it." Scully nodded, remembering that she was indeed the one that took advantage of Mulder their first time.

"Yeah I know that feeling…if I had to wait for Mulder it would have never happened. Why do people think I'm such an Ice Queen?" She huffed lightly thinking about the damn nickname she had developed

"You took advantage of him?" Reyes was slightly shocked but thinking about it for a moment not really surprised, "…who the hell calls you an Ice Queen?"

"I'm assuming it's just the façade I put up…I'm not easy, I didn't have to sleep my way to the top but I know how to take what I want that's for sure."

"I'm finding it hard to believe that people actually thought of you that way Dana…" Reyes looked at her with raised eyebrows. "You are a fine example of an extremely strong, independent and hard to resist woman." Scully blushed she couldn't help the color coming up her chest and to her cheeks as her colleague gushed about her. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to catch you off guard—I guess—I uhh—," Reyes shrugged it off turning back to her paperwork momentarily. Scully felt slightly flattered that her friend thought she was good looking; it made her proud in her own way.

"Did you uhh—did you happen to ever hear any of the rumors about Mulder and I?" Scully cleared her throat and Reyes couldn't help but grin, still looking down on her paperwork.

"I wasn't one to believe in rumors or stories; it wasn't ever really my scene." She still was writing and looking down.

"You didn't answer my question." Scully was very matter of fact and was right at the moment; Reyes dodged the question like a professional and looked up at the accusing red head, whose eyes were imploring.

"Dana—people are cruel, you realize that? I mean—obviously I was in New Orleans but with some of the things I'd be investigating, I started hearing things like, 'better call FBI headquarters and tell Mulder we've found a better partner for him…' or 'man she'd give Agent Scully a run for Mulder's heart.' My least favorite, 'oh brunette and leggy, right up ol' spooky's ally.' Trust me I was the black sheep as much as you two."

"You were never attracted to Mulder were you?" Scully became slightly suspicious.

"Don't get me wrong he's a good looking man but I knew he was yours all along. I wasn't going to get involved in that cat fight." Reyes laughed slightly at the image of her and Scully fighting over Mulder. "Can you imagine you and me, fighting over a guy? Come on Dana! When I first learned of your pregnancy I knew it was no miracle child…well maybe in a way…but I knew he was Mulder's. The only thing I knew was to not get too close to Mulder…I heard of your wicked temper and jealousy around other women." Reyes went back to writing again, avoiding eye contact with Scully.

"Wait, wait, you can't leave me hanging on that one…" Scully was all ears and wanted to know what others had said about her temper.

"Come on, you've been known to be very territorial around Mulder even from the beginning. Spiteful and jealous when other women, police or victims—if they even got close to him your mood would change drastically."

"Who told you that?" Scully's attitude changed drastically within a few seconds, bitter and upset that someone had said something along those lines and Reyes had made her point.

"That is exactly what I'm talking about. I didn't even have to give an example and you are on the defensive." Reyes smiled at her, "relax; I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. I actually don't have specifics, all I needed was to imply and you got completely defensive."

Scully stood up quickly, hands on her hips, pacing around the office slowly. Reyes could tell her mind was fuming a little bit by her teasing alone. Scully still paced and kept her lips tightly pursed, not really sure what she wanted to divulge to Reyes.

"If you knew how hot-headed I could be why did you push me?" Scully was blaming now, taking the attention off of herself and pointing the finger the other direction.

"I have to admit you do well under pressure, I wondered how for so many years you let Mulder get away with it, the nagging at your science with his science fiction?" Reyes looked at her, seeing Scully's firm gaze fade.

"I didn't, I was still firm on my stance—I still am." Scully started shifting in her position, fidgeting in place as Reyes put her in her place. It felt oddly good to be put in place by her, she noted to herself.

"But in the end who was right most of the time. I read the reports Dana…I know what's written in those files. Not science…" Reyes raised her brows waiting for Scully's defense but none came. Scully was in shock, she didn't even have a retort, Reyes had put her in her place and she, for once was ok with another woman telling her how it is.

"You know what's funny Agent Reyes…you are probably the only woman besides my mother that I'd let talk to me that way." Scully couldn't help but smile slightly, "…I knew I liked you for some reason." She quickly turned on her heels and left, leaving Reyes feeling quite unsure but proud of herself.
