Hey guys! we meet again! I'm sorry that I haven't been updating for a long time... *guilty look.

But here is a new chapter!

Enjoy!

Crunch…

"So what song should we sing?" I bore my eyes into the notebook, a pen in my hand. "We've got to think of a song that'll send everyone edging off their seats."

Luka stared at the palms on her lap. "Perhaps an upbeat one might sound nice."

Crunch…

"Upbeat huh?" I continued to gaze at the blank piece of paper, "that sounds pretty good to me."

"Or maybe we should do a depressing yet romantic song." Luka tapped her chin in contemplation. "What do you think?"

Crunch… and swallow

"Romantic?" I reiterated, "It might be not be such a bad idea. I kind of like romantic songs."

Uncontrollable coughing and splattering…

A pair of sea blue eyes snapped up from a munched apple. "You? Singing a romantic song?" Kaito slacked his jaw, shooting a dubious look towards me, "I can imagine this aggressive gorilla girl being anything but romantic."

My eyebrows furrowed down into a frown. "Excuse me? If you think this idea is horrible, why don't you actually give us some advice instead of chewing on your apple for the past few hours?"

It was Saturday morning, and Luka and I were busying deciding the song to sing for the school competition. We had been working fine, and suggested different kinds of popular songs. But, we never managed to be satisfied with one song. It was lacking a vital thing. After, a certain someone barged and lounged on the sofa. He criticised on every single song we listed, saying how it was not suitable. At the end, we – ok, I admit it, it's 'I' –simply tore the paper out of the notebook and threw it in the bin. Now, we wasted approximately 2 hours, trying to suggest a song Kaito approves of.

Kaito shrugged, munching on his apple core before tossing it into the rubbish bin. Then he shoved threw fingers in front of my face. "I've got three wonderful reasons why I don't have to do that."

"And what are they?" I snorted.

"First," He held out his pointing finger, his sea blue eyes gleaming with dullness, "I'm not the one who is in this whole –I've-got-to-kick-those-asshole's-butt situation."

My expression darkened a few shades. I didn't really want to admit it, but he was right. If I did not provoke that group of girls in the beginning, I may have escaped this pit I hurled myself into. It would certainly have been a timesaver as I could have been adjusting to the new environment, making new friends and be aiming for my dream goal right now. But…I just couldn't leave them gossiping like that… I mean… how could anyone ignore that? …it was simply…

Hurtful… to hear them say those vulgar things…

"Second, I don't want to help." Kaito smirked. "I'm too lazy right now."

Veins popped out under my skin. Okay, screw about him being right earlier.

"And lastly but not the last," there was a perceptible pause, "It's entertaining how you're struggling so pathetically."

The innocent pen in my hands immediately snapped in half, crying out with a crack. My eyes began twitching. Not good.

"Oh Kaito~" I sang in the most melodica way possible, "how utterly kind of you to say that to me."

Kaito gesticulated and bowed in a courteous way. "Thank you, I try."

"In return, why don't I kindly…" a warm sickly smile curved on my lips, dripping with thick honey, "…wring that fat neck of yours and send you to your early grave?"

Kaito returned the same innocent smile, like the twinge on an angel's lips. "Gorilla girl, you're too generous to me. I can't possibly accept that offer."

My eye twitched. Twice. "But I insist."

"No, I cannot possibly disappoint the people out there who love me dearly." He cocked his head sideways. Smugly.

Oh how I wished I could tear that smile off his face.

"Come here," I said.

"I beg your pardon?" Kaito blinked.

"Come here so that I can do you a favour," the smile on my lips crumbled down into thin lines, "and MURDER YOU FOR THE GOODNESS OF THIS WORLD!"

I lunged for him, and we both ended up rolling on the floor. Again.

"Assaulting me for the 6th time? You're really eager today!" Kaito screamed out as he grabbed my collar.

"Oh yes, I'm really eager," I struggled against his firm grip, "I'm doing the world a favour by taking you down."

"Oh, so you want to ride me huh?" He arched an eyebrow. "You want to be at the top?"

I splattered. Almost.

"That thought isn't very pleasing to one's mind, is it?" Kaito shuddered.

"S-shut up!"

We fought more, though we never managed to throw punches and kicks to each other. We always simply just wrestled, like sumo wrestlers… ok, that wasn't a very good description. Last time he won three rounds, but the victory of the previous ones we had not too long ago was claimed by me. Even though his strength dominated mine, however, my flexibility and techniques balanced it out. That was why we never managed to settle the scores with a loser and winner.

Luka, sitting on the other side of the room, shook her head slowly. "They're at it again…" She sighed. How much do they need to fight a day? Like 20 times?

"We're never going to win at this rate…" she massaged her temples, "I can pretty much see the results now…"

After a few minutes, Luka finally tore me away from Kaito. I was so close into claiming victory, but we were stopped at the end. The day ended with us finally settling with a popular song called 'Magnet'. It had been hitting the red lights of fame lately on the internet, and the melody engaged many. It was a song of love – cough, more like lust. Luka and I were satisfied with it; however, a certain blue headed was not.

"That song is not appropriate for you guys," Kaito said as we strode down the hallway to get to dinner.

I raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't contain any swear words in it."

"I don't mean that." Kaito rolled his eyes. "It's just that it doesn't make the two of you stand out from others."

"What do you mean?" I furrowed my eyebrows. "We just need to sing the song correctly, get every single note right and we'll be fine," I turned towards Luka, "Right, Luka?"

Luka didn't answer. She simply gazed into the distance.

"Um, Luka?" I waved a hand in front of her face. "Are you ok?"

She snapped out of her daze and blinked twice. "Hm? What?"

I frowned.

Glancing into the distance, I caught a glimpse of a purple headed figure with striking physique. His polite smile greeted the students as they hurried past him with admiring faces. Many girls huddled in corners, occasionally sneaking a peek at him from behind before turning away, blushing, as their gazes were noticed by the purple male. On one occasion, a brave girl stepped up and approached him in attempt to start a conversation. She was gleaming with hope, only to face hard pan failure when he gave a small smile and directed her the way to the diner hall while saying, "Mistress, the dinner awaits."

He appeared familiar… where had I seen him before?... oh right… he's name was Gaku—

"Gakupo…" Luka murmured. She stiffened subtly. But it didn't go unnoticed. Especially by the name of the person she was whispering about.

Gakupo twitched his head up. His eyes widening for a fleeting moment as something flashed in his expression. But he returned to his courteous self, bowing and smiling, before I could determine any of it.

Luka's expression hardened, lips trembling to contain the sudden wave of emotions – Jealousy…agony… pain…

….yearn…

We passed him as he bowed with his left arm crossing over his chest. Luka strode by without casting a single glance, though she still glimpsed back when we were a few metres away. I tried to make her forget about this, asking her questions about her day and random stuff. She only smiled gratefully in return.

It was the least I could do…

"Hey Gorilla girl, are you listening to me?" Kaito tugged on one of my ponytails and I shrieked.

"What the – don't just pull a girl's hair!" I shot daggers at him with my eyes, "Don't you know any manners?"

"I don't need manners in front of you, Gorilla." He smirked, shrugging his shoulders. "You're not a girl to me."

"Y-Y-You—" The finger I jabbed in the air trembled.

He snickered, grinning with that grin which annoyed me to death. "Anyway, take my advice," His tone turned solemn, "you will not win with that 'Magnet' song."

I folded my arms across my chest. "How do you know?" I cocked my head sideways.

"Because I'm a genius," he replied.

I eyed him evenly, "…very funny."

He let out a sigh of exasperation, as if talking to me was drawing out a lot of effort in him. "Don't you understand?" His hands ruffled through those strands of silky blue hair, "It's missing the most important component that makes a song alive."

"And what's that?" My frown deepened. "That song's lyrics are meaningful, the melody is catchy, it's not too fast to sing and not too slow," a breath was inhaled, "also it matches well with our voices."

He looked at me with utter disbelief. "You've got to be kidding me, you want to be a singer but you don't understand the soul thing that makes a song beautiful?"

That comment offended me. Greatly. "What are you talking about –"

"Screw this," He threw his hands in the air, "until you understand what that thing is, you…" He eyes hardened, a glaze of distaste gleamed over his face. "You will never become a singer."

My defensive side started to nag me. "Fine then, tell me what it is." I stood firm on my ground. "What is the most important thing in a song?"

Kaito rolled his eyes. "I'm not going to tell you." He started to walk away. "Unless you find out that it is, you'll never win against those other girls." He halted in his steps, turning towards us. "You will never."

For a second, coldness crept up my neck, prickling the hair up in alert.

"Fine, I'll find it out, and when I do and win this competition, I'm going to make you eat those words." I gulped, unconsciously stepping back from his hard stare.

He snorted. "Good luck on finding 'that' out, Gorilla girl," he tapped his chin, "and also making me eat my words as well."

Then he sauntered off, leaving me with the dazed Luka.

My hands clenched into a ball of fist on my sides. I gritted my teeth. What was Kaito talking about? What could possibly be that 'important thing' in a song?

As much as I don't care about boys, his cold words stung. After all, he was previously my dream idol. I was willing to do anything to become like him in the past, before I knew he was a girl. It was my dream goal to become the greatest, most popular singer in the country. Sometimes, even though I did not want to admit, I wanted him to respect me, to treat me with equal stands, not like this, not him seeing me as a pathetic and ignorant girl who does not understand the necessity to become a singer.

Whatever that 'important thing' is, I am definitely going to find it out and make Kaito eat his words, I decided as I stormed to dinner.

That determination became one of my goals for the next week.

So guys! I'll see ya next time~~ And please do read and review! A review is an author's energy boost! *wink XD
