'We have to go back! We can't leave him there!' Crystal begged demanding across the sky at the others attached to their flying Pokémon. 'Crystal he will be fine! I'm sure he's not too far behind us' Blue re-assured her. 'No I'm going back!' Crystal He swiftly turned around shooting down towards Crystal, ordering Charizard to hold her in his arms. 'AAAAAH LET ME GO!' she screamed 'Don't try to argue Crystal' Green yelled over Crystals voice as she continued to scream in protest
'Red, do you think something's wrong with Crystal? She's usually more tactical and logical than this... and quieter' Yellow noted watching Crystal screaming and kicking in the arms of Charizard.
'Either Gold has rubbed off on her or the lab work is really getting to her' Red replied with worry in his voice, urging her to hold on tighter as they picked up speed on his Aerodactyl.
They stopped in Goldenrod city, once Crystal was released she frantically tried to call Gold but he didn't answer. 'He's probably flying back right now Crystal' Yellow happily tried to comfort her. She nodded at the blonde silently agreeing.
'We need to think of a plan' Red suggested as they returned all their Pokémon to their balls. 'What do you know about their motives Blue?'
'From what I heard there plan was to eliminate us before moving onto something else, they did mention Goldenrod so I thought it would be wise of us to stop here' Blue noted
'Should one of us go back for Gold?' Red asked 'No. They used Crystal and Yellow as bait they will do the same with him if he didn't escape' She warned.
Crystal slumped down on the ground and held her head on her knees Yellow gave her a re-assuring pat on the shoulder as she sat down beside her.
'This is our fault Yellow and Crystal were kidnapped' Green announced, getting the groups attention. 'They knew who each of spend our time with, we've made our weaknesses too obvious. I think it's time we... split up for a while' he finished on a serious note giving Blue a quick glance.
'Green this isn't going to help anyone!' Blue protested 'We're better off sticking together!'
'Give it a rest Blue' Green breathed putting a hand up at her urging her to stop.
'I was the reason you all got out back there, I won't make the same mistake for someone so ungrateful' without another word Blue released her wiggly tuff and ascended up and over the tall towers through the city.
'Oh dear' Yellow squeaked
Crystal and Red starred at Green dumbfounded while Yellow watched the little pink ball disappear into the distance.
'Red, you and I will search the underground for anything. Yellow and Crystal, go to the Radio Tower lookout and see if you find anything from up there' Green ordered releasing his Charizard.
Red followed his lead releasing his Aerodactyl. Crystal began walking on foot towards the tower while Green and Red took off into the sky.
'What's going on Crystal' Yellow asked. I don't know Yellow, Team Rocket must have a plan- 'No I mean what's going on with you! Why are you so fired up lately!? Yellow stopped and starred at Crystal with worry. Crystal was shocked by Yellows sudden change. 'I-I'm sorry, it's just that you don't usually act like this. Is something going on?'
'I'm fine Yellow I really am' Crystal reassured her as they continued their walk. It's just this whole situation is really...Weird. We've never been this unprepared, and I really am worried about Gold'
'I can understand that, I'm worried about him too. The radio tower is just across the street let's hurry' they quickened their pace as they approached the main entrance.
...
'Doesn't this place usually have people battling down here?' Red observed looking around at the deserted hallway.
'Something's up' Green noted releasing his Golduck, Red followed his lead releasing Pika.
'Go have a look around' Red whispered to Pika on his shoulder, the electric mouse quickly jumped off and scurried down the hall.
Pika reached the end of the hallway, signaling that it was safe. Green and Red cautiously made their way towards the end of the hallway.
'That leads to the basement, I wonder if it's unlocked' Red pointed down another hallway which revealed a door. Green nodded as their two Pokémon lead the way.
Golduck put its head to the door, hearing a soft noise. Pika sniffed at the door detecting something behind it, but before it could call out to its trainer the door flew open, knocking Golduck off its feet. A set of vines emerged from inside wrapping around the small Pokémon and attempted to drag it in.
'PIKA!' Red cried out rushing forward. 'Red stop!' Green snapped trying to grab the boy by the collar but lost his grip. 'Charizard ember!' he commanded releasing his Pokémon behind Red. Green didn't take into consideration the height and width of the hallway, Charizard quickly collapsed unable to stand in the confined space. Red planted both feet on either side of the door trying to pry Pika from the vines. Green returned Charizard to his ball and ran towards Red and Golduck. Green reached for Red but he was too late as Red and Pika were engulfed by the vines and went flying through the doorway. The heavy steel door made a crashing bang as it slammed shut behind them.
'DAMMIT!' Green growled punching the floor, Golduck returned to his trainer's side wondering what they were going to do next.
...
The two girls climbed what seemed like an infinite amount of stairs until they reached the lookout.
'Of all the days for the elevator to be out of order' Yellow breathed heavily collapsing onto the floor. They were a short set of stairs from the lookout.
We'll rest for a moment, it's a good thing that they're doing maintenance work on the tower in case team rocket is here' Crystal sat down beside Yellow offering some water from her bag. 'Thank you' Yellow quickly gulped down the water and steadied her breathing.
'What happens if Team Rocket is up there?' Yellow asked wiping the sweat from her forehead. 'I think it's best if we call Green and Red if they are there, I've only got Xatee so we won't be able to do too much'
Yellow nodded in silent agreement following Crystal up the stairs cautiously. The glass windows lined the entire lookout letting the orange afternoon sun light the room. Yellow stood next to Crystal and gasped at the figure in front of them. Leaning against a pair of binoculars was Gold, tapping his pool cue on an adjacent pair of binoculars.
'Super Serious Gal! Yellow! You came to rescue me' He laughed cocking his head to the side. 'Gold!' Yellow called out to the boy but Crystal grabbed her wrist. 'That's not Gold'
the bluenette breathed keeping her eye on him.
'What?'
'Run Yellow!'
Yellow couldn't make sense of what Crystal was saying before they were jumping down the sets of stairs.
'Crys what's wrong? It's me!' Golds voice echoed a set of stairs or so above as he chased after them.
'Crystal what are you doing?!' Yellow panted trying to keep up. 'That's not him Yellow trust me' She kept her eyes on the path ahead.
'But how do you know? He has his pool cue!'
Yes and I know Gold would never smack it around like that!'
They reached the bottom floor and sprinted for the exit. Crystal ran a few meters from the Radio tower and collapsed onto the concrete.
'We made it Yellow' she breathed
'...Yellow? Yellow where are you?' Crystal stood up and spun around as the small blonde girl was nowhere to be seen.
'No no no no no!' she pleaded with herself running back to the Tower only to find the front door locked.
Crystal walked out into the middle of the street fumbling around with her pokegear frantically looking for Greens number.
'Crystal!'
'Green?' She spun around violently before she felt a hand on her shoulder. 'Yellows stuck in there!'
'Yes, something got Red in the underground' Green swiftly looked through his contacts to call Blue. Before he could begin dialing, the same Murkrow that visited New Bark Town came back.
'What's this?'Crystal held her arm up as the crow-like Pokémon dropped a small note in her hand before flying off.
'Department Store Basement'
