Katy's POV
Six years later
"Mommy, Mommy! Look at the ducks!" Aaliyah said pointing towards the ducks in the pond.
"Yea, don't get too close to them or they'll peck you," I say poking her.
She giggles, "Okay Mommy."
Then she runs off playing with the water in the pond. It has been six years since I found out that I was pregnant and that Daemon left. I was torn but I tried to stay strong. I love Aaliyah with all my heart and wouldn't have it any other way. I have decided, after Aaliyah was born, that I wanted to get a degree in business so I could open up my own book store.
Since Aaliyah was born I didn't have any free time for my blog so I had to end it. We moved to Colorado a few weeks ago, after I found out I received a scholarship to go to school here. We've only just moved into our new apartment. It was a little small but it was fine for just Aaliyah and me. The apartment had only two rooms and one bathroom. The kitchen was also right next to the living room area. So far the move has been great. I got worried that Aaliyah might not have taken the move well in the beginning but she was actually very excited. Although she said that, she was a little sad that she had to leave her friends behind but I assured her that she would make new ones. I drift off to a moment in time when Daemon talked about us coming here together at one point. Coming back to reality I ask Aaliyah if she wants go play in the playground so she wouldn't get wet anymore.
She smiles and nods her head. Taking my hand we walk to the playground where all the children are running around playing games. I sit down on one of the benches just like the other mothers are when they come here and take my book that I've started reading. Putting a pause to my reading I check on Aaliyah. She was playing in the sand box. This girl really likes to get dirty. I have to make a mental note to bath her when we get home. Going back to my reading I hear a voice I know too well. A voice I thought I would never here again.
"Katy?!"
I turn around and sure enough it was her, Ash Thomas. How? What is she doing here?
"Ash?!" I say surprised. What was she doing here?!
"I wasn't sure if was you when I passed by but now I know for sure it is you."
"I…," I couldn't speak.
"What are you doing here Katy?" she says harshly.
"I just moved here for school. What are you doing here?"
"I live here."
Then there was an awkward moment.
"Is everyone here?" I ask curiously.
"Yes" Then she starts asking me. "What brings you here to the Great state of Colorado? And especially this particular city"
"I got a scholarship to the University here."
"Good for you but you could've picked another school."
"Same old Ash I see."
"Not really. I have changed some of my ways since…" But she gets cut off by Aaliyah calling me. Oh no Ash will see her.
"Mommy Mommy, I got a boo boo," she says tearfully. I look up and see Ash's reaction. She has a shocked expression.
"Aw, will a kiss make it better?"
She nods her head as a yes.
I kiss her boo boo and take her little hand into mine.
"Well I think it's time for lunch isn't it Aaliyah?" Hopefully she agrees so I can get out of here.
"Yup, I'm starving Mommy," she says.
"Okay, well lets go on home I guess," I say urgently but before I can leave Ash stands in front of me preventing me from leaving.
"Who is this Mommy?" Aaliyah asks.
"Um, this is an old friend from Mommy's past."
She looks up at Ash and gives her signature smile.
"Hi, I'm Aaliyah."
"Well I'm Ash, nice to meet you," Ash says holding out her hand so Aaliyah can shake it.
Later Ash asks Aaliyah if she can go to the playground for just a few minutes so she can have a little chat with me. Crap!
"Okay Mommy's friend," Aaliyah says the runs to the playground once more.
"You have a daughter now?" she asks, shocked that I had a daughter.
"Yes," I could see her turning her head towards where Aaliyah was, studying her. I hope she doesn't notice she was Daemon's. Even though she looked like me she had Daemons bright green eyes.
"Who's the father," she asks questioningly.
"No one you know. I met him a year after you guys left." I lied.
"How old is she?" God what is it with all these questions?
"She is four but turning five in a few months." That's another lie. She is actually turning six but Ash can't know that or she might figure out who her dad is.
"Oh." Then she says, "Is she going to school here?"
"Yeah she's going to AlansGroveElementary school."
We each look back at Aaliyah. She is playing with the sand throwing it everywhere. Then unexpectedly the sand she threw in the air stays there. Sometimes that happens. Aaliyah hasn't gotten the hang of when she is supposed to use her powers. I see Ash staring wide eye at what Aaliyah just did.
"Aaliyah," I call out.
The sand falls to the ground and Aaliyah comes over to me.
"What was that?" Ash just asks. I don't answer her.
"Come on honey let's go home and get you a snack," I say.
"Okay Mommy."
"Bye, Ash."
Ash POV
I can't believe Katy is here. After we left it broke Daemons heart. And now she has a daughter. He would sure go crumbling down. Her daughter's eyes look very similar to Daemon eyes. I take out my cell phone and make an important call. "Hey Dee it's Ash. I got to tell you something important." Then I pause. I take a deep breath before I say anything to her. "Katy is here."
